Grease filter exchange for kitchens and businesses in Charlbury

The filters in the canopy are the first thing cooking vapour meets. Their job is to stop grease getting further into the system and they do it best when they’re clean. Our grease filter exchange service swaps dirty filters for clean ones on a schedule. If you have drips falling from the filters onto equipment and grease left in baffles after washing, we can put it right.

In a smaller place like Charlbury, many kitchens sit in older buildings or later extensions, with the duct running through a roof space or up an outside wall. Flat runs collect grease and need proper access to clean.

We have been trading since 2009, and we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured.

Aftercare tips

Simple habits between visits make a real difference. We recommend:

  • Clear anything stored on or near the canopy
  • Never leave gaps in the filter bank
  • Tell us if a filter is bent or damaged
  • Book full TR19 cleans alongside filter changes

There’s no waiting: the canopy is ready as soon as the clean set is fitted. We take the greasy filters with us for cleaning.

Bent or missing filters let grease straight past. Replacing them early protects the plenum and ductwork.

What grease filter exchange can’t fix

To be straight with you, there are a few things this work will not fix:

  • A canopy that does not capture the vapour properly
  • A heavily greased plenum or canopy, which needs cleaning to TR19
  • Cooking smells reaching neighbours, which need odour control

If in doubt, call 0345 646 2711, or email photos and we’ll say what we think before booking.

How the visit works

We are used to working while the site is closed. Evenings, nights and weekends are when much of our work happens, so a kitchen or building can carry on as usual the next day. The visit itself takes anything from a few minutes to an hour or so, depending on the number of filters. For a site near Charlbury, the work is booked around your opening hours, evenings and weekends included.

  1. We start by noting how many filters you have and what type they are.
  2. We agree a schedule that suits how much the kitchen cooks.
  3. On each visit, the dirty filters come out of the canopy.
  4. Clean, dry filters are fitted in their place, with no gaps left between them.
  5. If a filter is damaged or the plenum needs attention, we tell you.

How to prepare

  • Mention any parking or loading restrictions
  • Dig out any earlier paperwork for the system
  • Name a contact who can let us in at the agreed time

Photos are enough for some jobs, while others need a look on site. Larger sites, and anything hidden behind walls, ceilings or floors, are normally surveyed first. Either way, the quote is fixed before any work is booked.

Common questions in Charlbury

Can you work in Charlbury outside opening hours?

Yes, we can come after you close and finish before you open. Your customers, staff or residents in Charlbury needn’t be disturbed. Your opening times are the first thing we ask for.

Will you come out to Charlbury?

Yes, we work in villages as well as towns, and Charlbury is covered. A survey first, from photos or a visit, means we arrive with the right kit.

Which kinds of sites do you work on?

All kinds of commercial and public premises: kitchens, offices, schools, healthcare, retail, leisure and food production. Work is timed around how each site runs.

Is filter exchange enough instead of a full extract clean?

No. Clean filters help keep grease down, but the ducts and plenum still need cleaning at an interval set by risk assessment.

What is TR19?

BESA’s ventilation hygiene specification in two main parts: TR19® Grease for kitchen extract systems and TR19® Air for general ventilation. It isn’t legislation, but it’s the standard people check against.

Are you insured?

Yes. We carry full insurance and have been trading since 2009.

Who is the responsible person?

It depends on the building. The Fire Safety Order 2005 puts the duty on the responsible person, which can be the employer, the owner, a landlord, an FM or a managing agent.

What happens if you cannot reach some of it?

They’re marked on the report. In ductwork, new access panels are often the answer, which we can install.

Landlords, agents and facilities managers

For anyone managing more than one site, we can plan visits across the whole estate and price them together. Every building has its own written report, so records stay tidy.

We also work for facilities teams across offices, schools and healthcare in Charlbury and across Oxfordshire. Larger estates can be phased building by building to keep disruption down.

Signs you need grease filter exchange in Charlbury

Hand-washed filters often come back still greasy. Grease hides in the folds of a baffle or the layers of a mesh and a sink wash rarely reaches it.

Most sites get in touch when they notice one of these:

  • Damaged filters letting grease past
  • Filters so greasy the air can barely pass
  • Grease building up behind the canopy filters
  • Smoke and heat lingering under the hood

Commuter trade near Charlbury station can mean long cooking hours, and long hours put a kitchen into BESA’s more frequent cleaning bands.

What your quote should include

  • What paperwork you get at the end
  • Whether the price is fixed
  • Which accreditations they hold, and whether you can check them
  • Whether they’re fully insured

What affects the quote in Charlbury

A fixed price needs a few facts first. We look at:

  • How easy every part is to reach
  • Where the site is and how we reach it
  • The number of sites or systems
  • The condition of the system

When the work has to happen, how we reach it and how big the site is all affect the cost. We take each of them into account and give you a fixed price before any work starts.

Helping us quote

When you contact us, it’s useful to have:

  • Problems your staff have spotted
  • Any access panels or hatches you can see
  • How we’d reach plant on a roof or in a plant room
  • The site address and the type of premises

Quoting starts with a diagnosis, from your photos and details or, where that isn’t enough, a survey on site. Then we send a fixed price so you know the cost before we start.

Why act early in Charlbury

Grease-loaded filters are a fire risk in their own right. Flames from the range can be drawn up into the canopy and grease in the duct can carry a fire further. Clean filters mean less fuel in the canopy. When a site near Charlbury shuts unexpectedly, the people who rely on it notice at once.

Whatever the type of site, the quote works the same way: the size of the job, access, condition and working hours. Ask for a fixed quote and we will explain each part.
