Extract fan cleaning in Sunningdale

What affects the cost of extract fan cleaning

There’s no set price list, because sites vary so much. What we look at:

  • Travel, parking and unloading
  • When the work can happen, such as evenings, overnight or weekends
  • Site requirements such as sign-in and permits
  • How many systems or sites are involved

Putting the work off seldom saves money. Problems in a system tend to grow, which can make the next visit longer. If you are not sure what’s needed, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email for straight advice and a fixed quote.

Helping us quote

To speed up the quote, please include:

  • Where the plant sits or the system leaves the building, such as a roof or outside wall
  • The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it
  • Detail shots of panels, filters and grilles
  • A few general shots of the system

Getting a quote doesn’t take long. Send a few details and pictures, and we usually reply with a fixed quote within one working day. If we need to see the system first, we book a survey around your hours.

Extract fan cleaning in Sunningdale, done properly

In Sunningdale, as everywhere we work, the fan follows a set routine: we isolate it, open the housing, scrape the impeller and degrease the lot. The result is photographed for your records. If you have weak extraction at the canopy and a fan shaking on its mounts, we can help.

Size does not change the work: a kitchen in a place like Sunningdale gets the whole system cleaned, canopy to discharge. The visit is booked around your opening hours, and the journey is planned ahead.

Good records are part of the job. You get a written report with pictures after each visit, covering the work done, any areas we couldn’t access and a recommended next date. Keep it with your fire safety records so it’s ready for an insurer, fire officer or EHO.

Common questions in Sunningdale

Who would carry out a food hygiene inspection at a kitchen in Sunningdale?

Food hygiene inspections in Sunningdale are carried out by Windsor and Maidenhead council. Have your latest TR19® certificate and photo report to hand, as an officer may ask how the extract is maintained.

Is Sunningdale within the area you cover?

Yes. Sunningdale is within the area we cover across London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

What paperwork do I get after a fan clean?

Photos, notes on condition and a recommended next date. File it with your other extract records.

Which sectors do you work in?

Commercial premises of every kind: kitchens, offices, schools, healthcare, retail, leisure and food production. Work is timed around how each site runs.

How often should the extract fan be cleaned?

It depends on how many hours the kitchen cooks in BESA guidance. At the extremes, that’s 3-monthly for heavy use and 12-monthly for light use, fan included.

What do you do with what you remove?

Waste is contained during the work and removed when we leave, from grease and debris to used cleaning water. We don’t leave it behind.

Can you set up regular visits?

Yes. Scheduled maintenance plans are part of what we do, with visits at the interval your system needs. Each report recommends when the next visit should be.

Are you insured?

Yes, fully. CHAS and SafeContractor accreditation sit alongside it, for sites that check contractor safety.

Landlords, agents and facilities managers

We work for landlords, managing agents and facilities managers as well as the people running the site. Shared systems, like a riser serving several units, need a clear agreement on who books the work, and we can quote for the whole system.

Running several sites is easier with one contractor. We work across London and the South East, so a run of sites can go into one programme and kept on a regular cycle.

Grease in a kitchen extract is a recognised fire risk, and the fire authority enforces the law on managing it in most commercial premises. Environmental health officers from Windsor and Maidenhead council inspect food businesses in Sunningdale. They look at how clean the premises and equipment are, and the kitchen extract is part of that. Keeping each certificate and photo report on file helps show the extract is looked after.

What happens if it’s left?

A fan that sounds rough in Sunningdale is often telling you the extract needs a clean. Grease on the fan means grease in the duct before it so a full TR19 clean may be due. Even a site near Sunningdale that’s only busy part of the week needs its system checked on a schedule.

How the visit works

We turn up at the time agreed with you, which is often after service, overnight or at a weekend. Anything that needs to be off for the work is switched off and left to cool before we start, and the area around the work is covered and protected. The work itself takes a couple of hours per fan, depending on its size and the build-up. Tell us about any gates, ladders or locked plant areas at your site near Sunningdale when you book.

  1. First we locate the fan and agree how it’s safely isolated.
  2. Power to the fan is isolated before anyone touches it.
  3. Grease is scraped from the impeller blades and the inside of the housing.
  4. Blades, housing and the area around the motor are degreased with care.
  5. It’s closed up, run and checked, and photos go into your report.

Preparing for the visit

  • Make sure equipment near the work can be switched off and left to cool
  • Move anything stored near the system
  • Name a contact who can let us in at the agreed time

Getting a quote

Quoting starts with a diagnosis, from your photos and details or, where that is not enough, a survey on site. Then we send a fixed price, before work begins.

Advice

When it’s something else

We’d rather tell you now than book work that won’t help, so here are the limits:

  • Grease in the duct and canopy before the fan (those need a full TR19 clean)
  • An impeller that’s bent or split
  • A failed motor or worn bearings (that needs a fan repair or replacement)

If in doubt, ring 0345 646 2711 or email us and we’ll say what we think before you book.

What the work covers

  • Discharge points
  • Axial fans
  • In-line fans
  • Fan housings
  • Roof-mounted fans
  • Centrifugal fans

What your team can do, and what needs us

Good housekeeping makes our visits easier, not unnecessary. Clean filters and tidy surfaces slow the build-up, but the parts you cannot see still need a specialist at the right interval.

Away from the kitchen, the in-house job is mainly checking: keeping grilles clear, noting unusual noise or smells and logging filter changes. The inside of ducts and units needs a specialist.

What the work involves, part by part

Inline duct fans

Some fans are built into the duct itself. We get to them through the duct or casing after isolating them.

Kitchens with long cooking hours

Kitchens that cook 12 to 16 hours a day put the most grease through their fans. Under BESA guidance, heavy use means cleaning at least every 3 months, fan included.
