Need extract fan cleaning in Rushden?

What a clean will not put right

A few issues sit outside what this work can do:

  • An impeller that’s bent or split
  • A failed motor or worn bearings (that needs a fan repair or replacement)
  • A fan that’s too small for the system (a design question)

Not sure which it is? You can call 0345 646 2711, or send details by email and we’ll tell you honestly.

What we work on in Rushden

Extract fan cleaning in Rushden, done properly

Cleaning removes grease, not wear. Anything that looks worn or damaged goes on the report, and we also repair and replace extract fans. You get an honest view of the fan’s condition. If you are dealing with thick grease on the impeller and casing and a noisy fan that has got louder over time, we can put it right, from centrifugal fans, roof-mounted fans and axial fans onwards.

Rural kitchens often have long, low duct runs through a roof space or along an outside wall, and those horizontal sections are where grease settles. We agree access and timings in advance.

A written report with pictures follows each visit, so you have a record of what was done and when. Kitchen extract cleaning to TR19® Grease is certificated through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.

How the visit works

On the day, we arrive at the time agreed with you, which is often after service, overnight or at a weekend. Equipment that has to be off is switched off and allowed to cool first, and floors and nearby surfaces are sheeted. On site, it takes a few hours where there are several fans or heavy deposits. We agree a date with you, plan the drive to Rushden and turn up when the site is quiet.

  1. Diagnosis first: we look for grease, noise and vibration.
  2. With the fan isolated, the housing is opened.
  3. The impeller is cleaned blade by blade so it runs balanced.
  4. Housing, outlet and the area around the motor are cleaned.
  5. We run the fan and note its condition in the photo report.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Clear the space around the work
  • Tell us the best time to work, such as after service or at a weekend
  • Make sure equipment near the work can be switched off and left to cool

Some systems can be priced from pictures; others need a survey. Larger sites, and anything hidden behind walls, ceilings or floors, are normally surveyed first. Either way, the quote is fixed before any work is booked.

Advice

Signs you need extract fan cleaning in Rushden

A fan collects more grease when the filters let more through. Missing, damaged or badly fitted filters let grease travel the whole system, so the fan takes far more than it should.

Look out for any of the following:

  • Less air being pulled from the kitchen
  • A smell of hot grease from the extract
  • Grease around the motor and its mounts
  • An extract fan that vibrates or rattles

A hall kitchen that only cooks for events, whether near Church of St Mary or elsewhere in Rushden, still needs its extract cleaned, just less often.

Our hiring checklist

For landlords and multi-site operators

Multi-site operators often want one contractor and one number. We cover South East England and London, so visits at different addresses can be planned together and kept to a regular schedule.

From a single site to a large estate, you get the same standard: the system surveyed, the price fixed, the visit fitted around trading and everything written up afterwards.

Aftercare tips

So the system stays in good health:

  • Do not turn the fan off mid-service
  • Tell us if the extract feels weaker
  • Make sure the fan is included each time
  • Check filters are seated before cooking

The photo report shows the fan before and after cleaning. It lists what was cleaned and anything we couldn’t reach, along with the recommended next clean date.

Don’t run the kitchen with the extract off. Grease settles faster when the air stops moving, so keeping it running helps keep it clean.

Staff cleaning versus specialist work

Away from the kitchen, the in-house job is mainly checking: clear grilles, a log of filter changes and reporting anything odd. The inside of ducts and units needs a specialist.

Good housekeeping makes our visits easier, not unnecessary. Clean filters and tidy surfaces slow the build-up, but the parts you can’t see still need a specialist at the right interval.

FAQs for Rushden

Who inspects food businesses in Rushden?

The local authority for Rushden is North Hertfordshire council, and its environmental health team does the inspecting. How often a business is inspected depends on the risk rating the council gives it, so it’s worth staying ready all year.

Can the work in Rushden be done at night or at weekends?

Yes, out-of-hours work is a big part of what we do. The work in Rushden can fit around your hours. Your opening times are the first thing we ask for.

What accreditations do you have?

Duct Doctor is a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured.

Is the fan isolated during cleaning?

We always isolate the fan first, so it cannot run during the clean. That means the extract is off, so we clean while the kitchen is closed.

Do you offer extract fan cleaning separately?

Yes, we do. The report will make clear that only the fan was cleaned, so your TR19 records stay accurate. The whole system still needs cleaning at the intervals in BESA guidance.

Is Rushden in your area?

Yes. We work across Greater London, Surrey, Kent, Sussex, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire and Essex, and that includes Rushden.

How much notice should we give?

Book as early as you can for planned work, particularly if your next visit is nearly due. Emergencies are different, because our line is open 24/7.

What is TR19?

TR19® is the BESA specification for keeping ventilation systems clean. TR19® Grease, a standalone specification since 2019, covers grease in kitchen extract systems, and TR19® Air covers general supply and extract systems.

What extract fan cleaning looks like in Rushden

Rushden is about 32 miles from central London, well within the area we cover across London and the South East. We work evenings, overnight and at weekends, so the visit fits around the site. Environmental health officers from North Hertfordshire council inspect food businesses in Rushden. An officer looking round a kitchen will see the canopy, and grease there is hard to miss. Keeping each certificate and photo report on file helps show the extract is looked after.

If you run catering at a healthcare site, such as a hospital like Lister Hospital about 5.7 miles south-west, the extract may need cleaning more often than a part-time kitchen.

What affects the cost of extract fan cleaning

Before we fix a price, we need to know a few things. We check:

  • Whether we need access equipment or extra panels
  • The number of sites or systems
  • The scale of the work
  • A single visit or a regular plan

Whatever the type of site, the quote works the same way: the size of the job, access, condition and working hours. Call for a fixed quote and we’ll go through it with you.

What we need to know

Photos and a few facts are often enough to price the work. Send what you can of the following:

  • Your last certificate, test record or report
  • Any symptoms, from odd noises to smells or leaks
  • Your opening hours and when the area is out of use
  • The postcode and the type of business

Here’s what helps us quote: the address, the type of site and when it’s open, a few photos and any previous report or certificate. Then phone us on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form.
