Extract fan cleaning for sites in Padworth

Extract fan cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Padworth

Any fan serving a kitchen in Padworth is cleaned the same careful way as anywhere else: isolated first, then opened, scraped and degreased. Your report shows the impeller as we found it and as we left it. The work covers axial fans, centrifugal fans and roof-mounted fans, and people most often call us about a fan that hums, whines or rumbles and a fan shaking on its mounts.

In a village or hamlet like Padworth, the kitchens that need extract cleaning are usually a pub, a school, a care home or a hall kitchen, wherever there is one. Each still has a canopy and duct that collect grease.

We are CHAS and SafeContractor accredited, we hold ISO 9001 and we’re fully insured. We’re also a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we’ve been trading since 2009.

The process

Night work is normal for us. A lot of visits happen overnight or at weekends, so a kitchen or building can carry on as usual the next day. The visit itself takes an hour or two for most single fans. Seeing the system in pictures first means the trip to Padworth can be planned properly.

  1. We start by checking where the fan sits and how to isolate it.
  2. With the fan isolated, the housing is opened.
  3. The impeller and the housing around it are scraped clean.
  4. Blades, housing and the area around the motor are degreased with care.
  5. It’s closed up, run and checked, and pictures go into your report.

How to prepare

  • Allow time for equipment near the work to be turned off and cool down
  • Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, plant rooms, ceilings or locked areas
  • Have your last certificate or report to hand

For landlords and multi-site operators

Landlords, managing agents and facilities managers book us, not only the businesses that use the systems. Shared systems, like a riser serving several units, need a clear agreement on who books the work, and we can quote for the whole system.

For anyone managing more than one site, we can plan visits across the whole estate and price them together. Every building has its own written report, so each one has its own record.

Part by part

Roof-mounted fans

Roof fans also discharge grease onto the roof around them and we check the area around the outlet. Heavy staining is noted on the report.

Fan housings and motors

Some fans use a belt drive. We clean around them and note any wear for your records.

Padworth kitchens: local notes

About 44 miles out from central London, Padworth is part of the South East area we work across. Evening, overnight and weekend visits are all possible. In Padworth, food businesses are inspected by environmental health officers from West Berkshire council. They look at how clean the premises and equipment are, and the kitchen extract is part of that. A dated certificate in the maintenance file answers the question before it’s asked.

A hall kitchen that only cooks for events, whether near Church of St John the Baptist or elsewhere in Padworth, still needs its extract cleaned, just less often. For schools such as Sulhamstead and Ufton Nervet School, kitchen extract cleaning is usually booked for the holidays, when the canteen is closed.

Padworth is about 3 miles north-east of Tadley, in West Berkshire. Padworth gets the same approach as every site we work on: a survey first, a fixed quote, work timed around your hours and a report with photos. Our West Berkshire coverage runs to 155 places, and Padworth is one of them. Our Reading page covers sites nearby, about 7 miles away.

Extract fan cleaning in RG7 follows the same survey, fixed quote and written report as everywhere else we cover. We cover sites on School Road, Silver Lane and Sopers Lane and nearby roads. Nearby, we also carry out extract fan cleaning in Padworth Common (1 mile south), Old Warren (1 mile south), Aldermaston Soke (2 miles south), Aldermaston (2 miles west) and Pamber Heath (2 miles south). Larger places within reach include Newbury (9 miles west), Thatcham (6 miles west), Speenhamland (9 miles west), Spencers Wood (6 miles east), Calcot (4 miles north-east) and Shaw (9 miles west).

How we price extract fan cleaning

We quote each job individually. These are the things that affect it:

  • Whether several sites go on one quote
  • The size of the system
  • A single visit or a regular plan
  • Site rules, permits and inductions

Working hours, access and the scale of the site can all change the price. Each of those is built into the quote and give you a fixed price before we start.

What we need to know

You don’t need the technical terms. It helps if you can send:

  • The site address and the type of premises
  • Any previous report or certificate
  • Close-ups of filters, grilles, hatches or access panels
  • How we’d reach plant on a roof or in a plant room

Every quote begins with a look at the system, from your pictures and details or, where that isn’t enough, a survey on site. After that, you get a fixed price for the work so you know the cost before any work starts.

Honest limits

In fairness, there are a few things this work will not fix:

  • A failed motor or worn bearings (that needs a fan repair or replacement)
  • An undersized fan that can’t cope
  • A faulty speed controller or isolator

If in doubt, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or email photos and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Parts of the system we cover

  • Centrifugal fans
  • Fan housings
  • Axial fans
  • In-line fans
  • Discharge points
  • Roof-mounted fans

Looking after it afterwards

Aftercare is simple, and it helps at the next visit:

  • Watch for grease marks around the outlet
  • Notice when the fan starts to sound different
  • Leave a clear route to the fan
  • Keep each photo report with the maintenance log

The area around the fan is left clean, with waste grease removed. On a roof or outside wall, we leave the surrounding area tidy.

A change in how the fan sounds is worth noting. Rattles, hums or shaking can be early signs of build-up or wear and early action can save a repair.

FAQs for Padworth

Do you cover smaller places like Padworth?

Yes. Villages and rural sites across the South East are part of our work, Padworth included. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

Do you work overnight in Padworth?

Yes, nights and weekends are routine for us. Your customers, staff or residents in Padworth needn’t be disturbed. Tell us your opening hours when you ask for a quote.

Do you have a 24/7 line?

Yes. There’s a 24/7 emergency line, for problems that can’t wait. Ring any time and tell us what’s happened.

Is the fan isolated during cleaning?

We always isolate the fan first, so it can’t start while we work. That means the extract is off, so we clean while the kitchen is closed.

What paperwork do I get after a fan clean?

A photo report, including the fan’s condition and the next clean date. File it with your other extract records.

What happens if you can’t reach some of it?

They’re marked on the report. In ductwork, new access panels are often the answer, and we can fit those.

Is TR19 a legal requirement?

Not in itself. TR19® is the benchmark insurers, fire officers and EHOs check against, and many insurers ask for proof of cleaning to it. The legal duty sits in the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, which applies in England and Wales.

What’s the cleaning interval for an extract fan?

It’s cleaned with the whole extract, from every 3 months for 12 to 16 hours of cooking a day to every 12 months for 2 to 6 hours. Grease readings and the fan’s condition can show it needs more.

In-house cleaning or a specialist?

Day-to-day cleaning is something your team can do: wiping down canopy surfaces, cleaning filters and keeping a simple log. What they can’t safely do is clean inside the ductwork, the fan or the risers, and that is where we come in.

Logging matters as much as cleaning. A simple log of filter washes, wipe-downs and checks helps show that the system is managed between specialist visits, next to our reports.
