Extract fan cleaning in Hambledon, done properly
A clean fan isn’t a repaired fan. Anything that looks worn or damaged goes on the report and fan repair or replacement is something we also do. You will know whether the fan just needed cleaning or something more. Typical jobs include a fan that has never been cleaned and a fan shaking on its mounts, on roof-mounted fans, centrifugal fans and axial fans.
In a village or hamlet like Hambledon, the kitchens that need extract cleaning are normally a pub, a school, a care home or a hall kitchen, wherever there is one. Every one of them still needs its extract kept clear of grease, whatever the size of the place.
Our accreditations include CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are fully insured. We’re also a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we have been trading since 2009.

What the work involves, part by part
Fan housings and motors
We clean around the motor without soaking its electrics, and the fan is isolated throughout. Grease on and around the motor can trap heat, so we clean what we safely can.
Impellers and blades
While the impeller is clean, we can see its condition: cracks, bent blades or wear. Anything we see goes on the report.
The process
Everything the job needs comes with us, from protective sheeting to tools and access equipment. All we need from you is clear access and the right equipment switched off. On site, the work takes an hour or two for most single fans. If you can send pictures, we can arrive in Hambledon knowing what to expect.
- The fan is found and its type, access and isolation checked.
- It’s isolated so it cannot run while we work.
- Grease is scraped off the impeller blades and casing.
- The fan is degreased, taking care around the motor.
- We reassemble, run and photograph the fan.
How to prepare
- Tell us the best time to work, such as after service or at a weekend
- Mention any sign-in, permit or induction we need
- Dig out any earlier paperwork for the system

Advice
Hambledon kitchens: local notes
Hambledon, about 58 miles from central London, is within our usual area. A survey and a fixed quote come first, then the visit at a time that suits you. Food hygiene inspections in Hambledon are the job of Winchester City council’s environmental health team. An officer looking round a kitchen will see the canopy, and grease there is hard to miss. A TR19® certificate and photo report after each clean gives you a record to show an inspector.
If you run catering at a healthcare site, such as a hospital like Queen Alexandra Hospital about 5.5 miles south, the extract may need cleaning more often than a part-time kitchen. Volunteers running a hall kitchen near Church of St Peter and St Paul, or anywhere in Hambledon, may not know when the extract was last cleaned, and a grease test settles it. School kitchens, at schools like Hambledon Primary School for example, are normally cleaned in the holidays so no lunches are lost.
Hambledon is about 4 miles north-west of Horndean, in Hampshire. Sites in Hambledon get the same service as everywhere we cover: diagnosis first, a fixed price, out-of-hours working where needed and a written report with pictures. Hambledon is one of 683 places in Hampshire we cover for commercial clients. You can also see our page for Portsmouth, about 8 miles away.
We work across the PO7 postcode area for extract fan cleaning and the streets around it. Streets in the area include High Street, West Street and The Maltings, and we cover them all for extract fan cleaning. We also cover the places around Hambledon: Anthill Common (1 mile south), Denmead (2 miles south-east), Anmore (3 miles south-east), Lovedean (3 miles south-east) and Wecock Farm (3 miles south-east). Larger places within reach include Winchester (13 miles north-west), Gosport (9 miles south), Havant (6 miles south-east), Eastleigh (12 miles west), Fareham (7 miles south-west) and Horndean (4 miles south-east).

What affects the quote in Hambledon
Before we fix a price, we need to know a few things. We look at:
- Parking and loading at the site
- Access, including roofs, risers and ceiling voids
- Any permits to work or inductions
- How many systems or sites are involved
Kitchens, offices, schools and hospitals are all priced the same way: how much there is, how we reach it, what state it’s in and when we can work. Call for a fixed quote and we will explain each part.
What to send for a quote
The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. With your enquiry, please include:
- Where the plant sits or the system leaves the building, such as a roof or outside wall
- Photos showing the whole system and its surroundings
- The times we could work without disrupting the site
- Problems your staff have spotted
The quickest way to a quote is to send photos: the system from a couple of angles, plus any access panels or hatches. Add the site type and your opening hours, and we can price many jobs without a visit.
What extract fan cleaning cannot fix
To be straight with you, there are a few things this work will not fix:
- A fan that’s too small for the system (a design question)
- A dirty duct upstream of the fan
- An impeller that is bent or split
If you’re not sure, just phone us on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Leave it or put it right?
A greasy fan has to work harder to move the same air. Less air is pulled from the kitchen, so heat and smoke linger and the motor works harder. Our emergency line runs 24/7, but a planned visit to Hambledon is calmer for everyone.
What you pay depends on the size of the system, the condition it’s in and how easy it is to reach. We give you a fixed price before we start, so you know where you stand.

Hambledon: your questions answered
Which fire authority looks after Hambledon?
It’s Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, which covers Hambledon. If a fire safety officer visits a commercial kitchen, they may ask about the fire risk assessment and how the extract is kept clean.
Do you work at weekends in Hambledon?
Yes. We work evenings, overnight and at weekends. That way a site in Hambledon does not have to lose a day’s trading. Just ring 0345 646 2711, or email photos with your opening times and we will plan around them.
Do you cover Hambledon?
Yes. We work across Greater London, Surrey, Kent, Sussex, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire and Essex, and that includes Hambledon.
Can one contract cover all our sites?
Yes. Tell us the addresses and what each needs and you’ll get one fixed quote.
Which kinds of sites do you work on?
Restaurants and pubs, hotels, schools and colleges, hospitals and care homes, offices and retail, plus food production and leisure sites.
What is TR19?
A BESA specification, with two parts that matter most here: TR19® Grease for kitchen extract systems and TR19® Air for general ventilation. It is not legislation, but it’s the standard people check against.
Can the fan be cleaned between full cleans?
Yes, where it makes sense. We’ll often suggest checking the duct too, as a greasy fan usually means a greasy duct, but the choice is yours.
What happens to the waste?
Anything we remove is contained as we work and taken away with us, including grease, debris and dirty water. None of it is left on site.
In-house cleaning or a specialist?
If your staff spot something between visits, such as dripping grease, a noisy fan, a smell or a filter that won’t come clean, they should report it rather than try to fix it. We’ll take a look and send you a fixed quote.
Keep a record of what your team does. A simple log of filter washes, wipe-downs and checks shows an inspector that the system is looked after between visits, next to our reports.
Between visits
Results last longer with the right care. We suggest:
- Book the fan into every full TR19 clean
- Don’t store items in front of the fan’s access point
- Keep the fan on whenever the range is lit
- Keep records of every fan clean
If the fan needs more than a clean, we will say so plainly. We also repair and replace extract fans, so you have one point of contact.
Listen to the fan. Rattles, hums or shaking can be early signs of build-up or wear and early action can save a repair.
