Extract fan cleaning across Greatstone-on-Sea

Extract fan cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Greatstone-on-Sea

We’ve been trading since 2009. We’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we are fully insured, with CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001. If you are dealing with a motor area thick with grease and a fan that hums, whines or rumbles, we can help, from roof-mounted fans, axial fans and centrifugal fans onwards.

Somewhere as small as Greatstone-on-Sea, commercial kitchens are few: perhaps a pub, a school or care home kitchen, or a hall used for events. Each still has a canopy and duct that collect grease, whatever the size of the place.

Insurers, fire officers and environmental health officers all look at records. So every job comes with a written report and pictures, and grease extract cleans come with a TR19® certificate issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.

For landlords and multi-site operators

Landlords, managing agents and facilities managers book us, not only the businesses that use the systems. Where a system serves more than one tenant, such as a shared riser, it helps to agree who arranges the work, and we are happy to quote for all of it.

We also work for facilities teams across offices, schools and healthcare across Kent. Larger estates can be phased building by building to keep disruption down.

FAQs for Greatstone-on-Sea

Who carries out food hygiene inspections in Greatstone-on-Sea?

That’s Folkestone and Hythe council, whose environmental health officers carry out food hygiene inspections in Greatstone-on-Sea. An officer may look up into the canopy, so clean filters on the day and a recent certificate on file both help.

Can you come to Greatstone-on-Sea after we close?

Yes. We work evenings, overnight and at weekends. That way a site in Greatstone-on-Sea does not have to lose a day’s trading. Tell us your opening hours when you ask for a quote.

How do you keep the site clean during the work?

Protection goes down first: floor sheeting and covers over nearby surfaces and equipment. We tidy up and take our waste away before we leave.

Is TR19 cleaning required by law?

No. The law sets the duty; TR19® is the benchmark used to show it’s met. Under the Fire Safety Order 2005, the responsible person must reduce fire risk, and many insurers can refuse or reduce a claim without proof of cleaning.

What should I send you?

The site address, the type of premises and your opening hours, along with a few photos and any previous report.

What happens to the waste?

We take it away when we go. During the work, it’s contained to keep the area clean.

What is TR19?

BESA’s ventilation hygiene specification in two main parts: TR19® Grease for kitchen extracts and TR19® Air for supply and extract systems. It isn’t law, but it’s the benchmark.

What paperwork do I get after a fan clean?

Before and after pictures go into a report, along with notes on the fan’s condition. For a full TR19 clean, you also get a certificate through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.

The process

We turn up at the time agreed with you, which is often after service, overnight or at a weekend. Anything that needs to be off for the work is switched off and left to cool before we start, and the area around the work is covered and protected. On site, it takes a couple of hours per fan, depending on its size and the build-up. In a small place like Greatstone-on-Sea, the journey is planned ahead and the visit arranged around the site’s hours.

  1. The fan is found and its type, access and isolation checked.
  2. It’s isolated so it can’t run while we work.
  3. We scrape the heavy grease from the blades and housing.
  4. The fan is degreased, taking care around the motor.
  5. It’s closed up, run, checked and photographed for the report.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know when the site is closed or quiet
  • Clear the space around the work
  • Mention any locked doors, roof access or ceiling voids

Fixed quotes for extract fan cleaning in Greatstone-on-Sea

We do not publish a price list, because sites vary so much. The quote depends on:

  • Whether we need access equipment or extra panels
  • Where the site is and how we reach it
  • Whether several sites go on one quote
  • When the work can happen, such as evenings, overnight or weekends

Combining work into one visit or one programme often makes better use of the time. Mention every system or site you need covered and we will price it together.

Asking for a quote

When you contact us, it’s useful to have:

  • Any symptoms, from odd noises to smells or leaks
  • Close-ups of filters, grilles, hatches or access panels
  • A few general shots of the system
  • How we’d reach plant on a roof or in a plant room

Some systems can be priced from pictures; others need a survey. Larger sites, and anything hidden behind walls, ceilings or floors, are normally surveyed first. Either way, the quote is fixed before any work is booked.

Aftercare tips

Looking after the system between visits is straightforward, and it helps at the next visit:

  • Book the fan into every full TR19 clean
  • Note any drop in extraction at the canopy
  • Report rattles or humming early
  • Keep the fan on whenever the range is lit

File the photo report with your other extract records. It gives a dated record of the fan’s condition, which helps if anything changes later.

Make sure the fan is reachable. A fan that can be reached safely is a fan that gets cleaned, whether it’s on a roof, in a ceiling or on a wall.

When something else is needed

We’d rather tell you now than book work that won’t help, so here are the limits:

  • A fan that won’t start
  • Wiring faults to the fan
  • An impeller that’s bent or split

If in doubt, ring 0345 646 2711, or email photos and we will say what we think before booking.

Parts of the system we cover

  • Axial fans
  • In-line fans
  • Fan housings
  • Roof-mounted fans
  • Centrifugal fans
  • Discharge points

What happens if it’s left?

A greasy fan at the discharge can spread grease onto the roof or wall around it. That stains surfaces and can add to the fire risk outside the building, which is one more reason to keep it clean. A fault that closes a site in a village like Greatstone-on-Sea affects everyone who depends on it.

A single site or a whole portfolio, the quote is built the same way: what needs doing, how we get to it and when. You’ll have a fixed price before we start.

Part by part

Impellers and blades

A clean impeller shows any damage: cracks, bent blades or wear. Anything we see goes on the report.

Inline duct fans

Hidden in a ceiling void, an inline fan is easily missed. The survey makes sure it’s part of the clean.
