Need extract fan cleaning in Chackmore?

Extract fan cleaning in Chackmore, done properly

Every TR19® Grease clean includes the extract fan, but a fan can also need attention on its own, for example when it’s noisy or vibrating. A fan-only clean is recorded as exactly that. If you’re dealing with rough running from the extract fan and hot, greasy smells near the fan, we can help, from roof-mounted fans, centrifugal fans and in-line fans onwards.

In a small place like Chackmore, kitchens are often in older or extended buildings, with long single-storey duct runs, and those horizontal sections are where grease settles. We agree access and timings in advance.

Duct Doctor has been trading since 2009, and we are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we carry full insurance.

What we do, step by step

Your trading hours come first. We book the visit for a time the area is closed, whether that’s an evening, overnight or a weekend. Once we’re in, the area is sheeted and anything that has to be off is turned off and cooled, and the work takes an hour or two for most single fans. If you can send pictures, we can arrive in Chackmore knowing what to expect.

  1. First we check the fan’s condition and how it sounds.
  2. Once isolated, we open the fan up.
  3. The impeller is cleaned blade by blade so it runs balanced.
  4. Housing, outlet and the area around the motor are cleaned.
  5. The fan goes back into service with a report on its condition.

Before we arrive

  • Name a contact who can let us in at the agreed time
  • Have your last certificate or report to hand
  • Tell us the best time to work, such as after service or at a weekend

Why deal with it now?

Grease on a roof fan can also escape outside. It marks the area around the outlet and leaves more fuel outside, which is one more reason to keep it clean. It’s worth booking a check, because nobody sees inside a duct day to day.

Working hours, access and the scale of the site can all change the price. Each of those is built into the quote and give you a fixed price before any work starts.

Why us?

When to call us in Chackmore

Grease on a fan is a fire risk, in Chackmore as anywhere. If grease in the duct catches, the fan and its housing can feed the fire and an overworked motor runs hotter.

Any of these means the system needs a check-up:

  • A fan that no longer moves enough air
  • Thick grease on the impeller and casing
  • An extract fan with no cleaning record
  • A noisy fan that has got louder over time

Stowe House, about 1.2 miles north-west, is one of the historic houses near Chackmore; if you run event catering at a venue like that, cleans can be booked between functions.

Questions to ask before you book

  • Whether the quote is based on a survey or photos
  • What hours they’ll be on site
  • Whether VAT is included
  • What paperwork you get at the end

How to choose an extract cleaning contractor

Landlords, agents and facilities managers

We regularly work with managing agents. Send the address, what’s needed and how access works and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

Running several sites is easier with one contractor. We work across London and the South East, so a run of sites can go into one programme and kept on a regular cycle.

Extract fan cleaning around Chackmore

There are about 26 restaurants, cafés and works canteens and about 9 takeaways and sandwich shops in and around Chackmore, up to about a mile and a half out, according to the Food Standards Agency’s register. Any of those kitchens with a canopy relies on a fan that gathers grease as it runs. Chackmore is covered by Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service. In most workplaces, including commercial kitchens, it’s the fire and rescue authority that enforces the Fire Safety Order. Food hygiene inspections in Chackmore are the job of Buckinghamshire council’s environmental health team. The cleanliness of the kitchen and its equipment, extraction included, is part of what they check. Before-and-after pictures from each clean are a simple way to show the extract is in hand.

Healthcare kitchens, like those at hospitals such as Buckingham Community Hospital (about 1.2 miles south-east), often cook for long hours, which puts them in BESA’s heavier-use bands. For schools such as St James and St John CofE Primary School, kitchen extract cleaning is typically booked for the holidays, when the canteen is closed.

Your questions about extract fan cleaning in Chackmore

Do you cover smaller places like Chackmore?

Yes. Chackmore is within the area we cover across London and the South East. A survey first, from photos or a visit, means we arrive with the right kit.

Do you clean school canteen extracts around Chackmore out of term?

Yes. Half-terms and the summer break are the natural time for school work. Around Chackmore, the Food Standards Agency lists about 7 schools and colleges with registered kitchens within a mile and a half or so. Tell us your holiday dates and we will book the visit for when the site is empty.

Should the extract fan be cleaned as part of TR19?

Yes, it should be. The whole system is cleaned, from the canopy to the discharge, and the fan sits right in that path, so it’s cleaned too.

Can you clean the fan on its own?

Yes, a fan can be cleaned on its own. That helps when the fan needs attention before the next full clean, but it does not replace a full TR19 clean.

Which accreditations do you hold?

Our accreditations are CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, alongside BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. Vent Hygiene Elite is run by BESCA and independently audited.

Do you have a 24/7 line?

Yes, any time. For anything urgent, such as a fan failure or damage after a fire, ring the 24/7 line, and we’ll advise on what to do next.

What happens to the waste?

It’s contained and taken away. Grease, debris and waste water are collected as the work goes on, so it doesn’t spread.

Who is responsible for fire safety on the premises?

Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, it’s the responsible person: normally the employer or whoever controls the premises. Landlords, facilities managers and managing agents can also hold responsibility.

What staff can safely do

Day-to-day cleaning is something your team can do: wiping canopies, washing grease filters and recording it in a log. What they cannot safely do is clean inside the ductwork, the fan or the risers, which is where we come in.

Logging matters as much as cleaning. A simple log of filter washes, wipe-downs and checks shows an inspector that the system is looked after between visits, alongside our reports.

When it’s something else

An honest diagnosis matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what this work cannot put right:

  • A fan that will not start
  • A fan that’s too small for the system (a design question)
  • Damaged fan blades

If you are not sure, just call 0345 646 2711, or email photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

Parts of the system we cover

  • Centrifugal fans
  • Axial fans
  • Discharge points
  • Roof-mounted fans
  • In-line fans
  • Fan housings

Part by part

Kitchens with long cooking hours

When a busy kitchen’s fan fails, cooking stops. A clean fan is less likely to strain, and our 24/7 emergency callout is there if it happens anyway.

Inline duct fans

Inline fans sit within the duct run, often above a ceiling. They’re reached through access panels or by opening the casing, once they’re isolated.
