How we handle ductwork cleaning in Southcourt
We’ve been trading since 2009, working across London and the South East. We’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and our certificates are issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal. We are often asked to deal with a rancid smell from the extract duct and a duct nobody has opened in years, on attenuators, multi-storey ducts and vertical risers.
For a smaller kitchen near Southcourt, a TR19® clean is the same job as anywhere: canopy, filters, plenum, duct, fan and discharge. We plan the visit around your hours, with the journey sorted in advance.
We’re CHAS and SafeContractor accredited, we hold ISO 9001 and we’re fully insured. On top of that, we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we have been trading since 2009.

What we do, step by step
Your trading hours come first. We book the visit for a time the area is closed, whether that’s an evening, overnight or a weekend. Once we’re in, the area is sheeted and anything that has to be off is turned off and cooled, and the work takes a few hours for a short run, longer for long runs and tall risers. Getting to the system matters more than parking in a place like Southcourt, so let us know how to reach it.
- We trace the duct and find every way in.
- Grease thickness is measured at set points.
- Once the kitchen has closed, we protect the area and open the panels.
- Thick grease is scraped out, then the runs and risers are degreased.
- We close up, re-test, photograph and record anything out of reach.
Getting ready for the visit
- Clear loose items from the work area
- Find the previous report, if there is one
- Mention any sign-in, permit or induction we need

When to call us in Southcourt
Grease in a duct running from a kitchen in Southcourt is as much a fire risk as in any building. Once it lights, fire can spread along the duct and into other areas, which is why the responsible person needs it under control.
Look out for any of the following:
- Thick deposits at the bottom of a vertical duct
- Fat dripping from the ductwork
- An insurer asking for TR19 evidence
- Hardened, baked-on grease in long horizontal runs
Where a hall near Church of the Good Shepherd, or anywhere in Southcourt, hosts lunch clubs or events, its extract gathers grease just as a café’s does.
What your quote should include
- Whether the price is fixed
- Whether they’re fully insured
- Whether a written report and photos are included
- Whether VAT is included
Managing agents and facilities teams in Southcourt
If you look after several sites, we can schedule visits across all of them on one quote. Each site gets its own report and pictures, so each one has its own record.
The Fire Safety Order 2005 puts the duty to manage fire risk on the responsible person, and that can be the employer, the owner, a landlord, a facilities manager or a managing agent. With shared responsibility, good records help everyone.
Southcourt kitchens: local notes
Food Standards Agency data counts about 91 restaurants, cafés and canteens and about 52 takeaways within roughly a mile and a half of the centre of Southcourt. Each kitchen that cooks under a canopy sends grease-laden air into a duct, where it cools and settles. Fire safety in Southcourt falls to Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service. Its fire safety officers can audit commercial kitchens, and grease in the extract is part of a kitchen’s fire risk. Kitchens in Southcourt get their food hygiene inspections from Buckinghamshire council. A greasy canopy or dripping filters are the sort of thing an inspection can pick up. A dated certificate in the maintenance file answers the question before it’s asked.
Commuter trade near Aylesbury station can mean long cooking hours, and long hours put a kitchen into BESA’s more frequent cleaning bands. If you run catering at a healthcare site, such as a hospital like Stoke Mandeville Hospital about 0.8 miles south-east, the extract may need cleaning more often than a part-time kitchen.
Southcourt is about 1 mile south of Aylesbury, in Buckinghamshire. Southcourt gets the same approach as every site we work on: diagnosis first, a fixed price, out-of-hours working where necessary and a written report with pictures. We cover 263 places across Buckinghamshire, from busy centres to quieter spots. Milton Keynes is in our area too, around 16 miles away.

Leave it or put it right?
A fire in a greasy duct is hard to reach and hard to stop. The duct can carry it to rooms, floors or roof spaces well away from the kitchen, which is why the duct matters as much as the canopy. A planned visit to Southcourt fits your hours; an emergency does not.
Working hours, access and the scale of the site can all change the price. Each of those is built into the quote, and the price is fixed before we start.

Southcourt questions
Which environmental health team covers Southcourt?
Food hygiene inspections in Southcourt are carried out by Buckinghamshire council. Ratings are published by the Food Standards Agency, so a clean extract and good records are worth keeping up.
Which fire and rescue service is responsible for Southcourt?
Southcourt is in the area of Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service. It’s worth keeping your fire risk assessment, TR19® certificates and photo reports together, ready to show.
What happens to the waste?
We take it away when we go. While we work, it’s kept contained so the area stays clean.
How often should kitchen ducts be cleaned?
At least as often as BESA guidance sets for your cooking hours. Kitchens cooking 12 to 16 hours a day need it at least every 3 months, while lighter use can go longer.
Which accreditations do you hold?
We’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 are in place too, and we carry full insurance.
What’s TR19?
It’s the industry benchmark for cleaning ventilation and kitchen extract systems, written by BESA. It sets out inspection, cleaning and record keeping, and it takes a risk-based approach.
What happens if you cannot reach some of it?
They’re marked on the report. In ductwork, new access panels are often the answer, and we can fit those.
How do you know if the ductwork needs cleaning?
Signs include grease dripping from joints, smells and a fan working harder, but measuring is the reliable way to know. A WFTT or DTT reading gives a clear answer.
When it’s something else
Before you book, it helps to know what’s not included:
- Fire dampers that do not close (they need testing and remedials)
- A worn-out fan that needs replacing
- Parts of the duct with no way in
If in doubt, call 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we will say what we think before you book.
Parts of the system we cover
- Vertical risers
- Multi-storey ducts
- Access panels
- Bends and junctions
- Horizontal duct runs
- Attenuators
Between visits
After the visit, a few habits help the work last:
- Run the extract fan throughout service
- Keep grease filters clean and fitted whenever you cook
- Do not block access panels with shelving or stock
- File each certificate and photo report in the maintenance log
You will have a recommended date for the next clean, worked out from the grease we found and how long you cook each day, in line with BESA guidance.
Run the extract the whole time the kitchen is cooking. When the air stops, grease settles in the duct, so switching off early adds to the build-up.
Fixed quotes for ductwork cleaning in Southcourt
Before we fix a price, we need to know a few things. We look at:
- Whether several sites go on one quote
- How big the system is
- When the work can happen, such as evenings, overnight or weekends
- The condition we find in the survey
Putting the work off seldom saves money. Build-up, wear and faults tend to get worse, not better, which can make the next visit longer. If you’re unsure, call 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form for straight advice and a fixed quote.
Asking for a quote
Before you ask for a quote, gather:
- Anything you’ve noticed, such as smells, noise, drips or poor airflow
- The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it
- The site address and the type of premises
- Detail shots of panels, filters and grilles
We do not publish a price list, because every site is different. Instead, we look at your site first, from pictures or a survey, and then give you a fixed quote. To get going, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email.
