Hampshire · Ductwork cleaning
Duct cleaning in Ramsdell
One call covers cleaning of kitchen extract ductwork, horizontal runs and vertical risers through access panels in Ramsdell: survey, fixed quote, work and sign-off. Fully insured, with CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001.
- Grease pooling at the foot of the riser
- Gaps where access panels were never fitted
- Proof of duct cleaning for the insurer
What staff can safely do
If your staff spot something between visits, like drips, unusual noise, smells or damaged filters, they should report it rather than try to fix it. We will take a look and send you a fixed quote.
For ventilation and air handling systems, in-house care is mostly about checks: clear grilles, a log of filter changes and reporting anything odd. Cleaning inside ducts and units is specialist work.
Ductwork cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Ramsdell
Many ducts were installed with too few access doors. Where a section cannot be reached, TR19 expects it to be recorded on the report, and we can fit new access panels so it’s cleaned next time. It’s better to know than to assume. We’re often asked to deal with proof of duct cleaning for the insurer and a rancid smell from the extract duct, on attenuators, horizontal duct runs and vertical risers.
For a kitchen in or near Ramsdell, the visit is planned around opening hours and the journey, and the clean itself is the same full TR19® job as in any town: canopy to discharge, then a TR19® certificate and a photo report.
A written report with photos follows every visit, so you have a record of what was done and when. Where the work is a TR19® Grease clean, the certificate is issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.

What the work involves, part by part
Attenuators and discharge
The discharge is where the duct ends and air leaves the building. Grease can collect there and stain the area around it, so it’s cleaned as far as safe access allows.
Access panels
Every section of duct is cleaned through an access panel. Where there are none, those sections cannot be cleaned, and TR19 expects them to be recorded.
Aftercare tips
Think of this as the after-treatment advice, in brief:
- Never cook with a filter missing
- Ask for a grease thickness test if the kitchen gets busier
- Flag drips from the duct right away
- Get panels fitted where the duct couldn’t be cleaned
After the clean, the same points are tested again, so the report shows the before and after figures. Photos of each section go alongside them.
Keep to the cleaning interval on the report. If the kitchen starts cooking longer hours, the interval may need to shorten, and grease thickness testing will show it.
Managing agents and facilities teams in Ramsdell
Where a tenant occupies the premises but the landlord owns the building, it’s worth checking the lease for who maintains the systems. We can quote either party and send the paperwork to whoever needs it.
We also work for facilities teams across offices, schools and healthcare across Hampshire. Work can be phased by floor, building or site around the people who use them.

What else we do in Ramsdell
How the visit works
Night work is normal for us. A lot of visits happen overnight or at weekends, so the site can open as normal afterwards. The visit itself takes a shift or more, depending on the length of the runs and the number of access points. In a small place like Ramsdell, the journey is planned ahead and the visit arranged around the site’s hours.
- First we diagnose: the route, the access and the grease levels.
- You get a fixed price before work starts.
- Each section is cleaned in turn through its access panel.
- Bends, risers and the base of each riser get extra attention.
- Readings, pictures and a recommended next clean date complete the job.
How to prepare
- Arrange a key holder or contact on site
- Dig out any earlier paperwork for the system
- Move anything stored near the system
How to get a quote
The quickest way to a quote is to send photos: the system from a couple of angles, plus any access panels or hatches. Add the site type and your opening hours, and we can price many jobs without a visit.

How we price ductwork cleaning
Every site gets its own quote. These are the things that affect it:
- The number of sites or systems
- What state the system is in
- How big the system is
- Site rules, permits and inductions
When the work has to happen, how we reach it and how big the site is can all change the price. We take each of them into account and give you a fixed price before we start.
What to send for a quote
Before you ask for a quote, gather:
- Problems your staff have spotted
- Wide photos of the system and the area around it
- Your last certificate, test record or report
- When the site is open and when it’s quiet
To get a fixed quote, call 0345 646 2711, or send details by email with the site type, your trading hours and a short description of the system. A few pictures and your last certificate or report help a lot. We usually come back within one working day.
What happens if it’s left?
Grease left in a duct in Ramsdell hardens over time. Heat and age turn it into a thick, stubborn crust, so the later the clean, the bigger the job. If the system at a site near Ramsdell fails, there may be nowhere nearby to move to.
What you pay depends on the size of the system, what state it’s in and how easy it is to reach. You get a fixed price before any work starts, so you know where you stand.

What ductwork cleaning looks like in Ramsdell
At about 47 miles from central London, Ramsdell sits well inside the area we cover. We work evenings, overnight and at weekends, so the visit fits around the site. Kitchens in Ramsdell get their food hygiene inspections from Basingstoke and Deane council. Extraction counts as kitchen equipment, so its condition can come up on the day. Before-and-after pictures from each clean are a simple way to show the extract is in hand.
Healthcare kitchens, like those at hospitals such as Park Prewett Hospital (about 2.7 miles south-east), often cook for long hours, which puts them in BESA’s heavier-use bands. If you look after a school kitchen, at a school such as The Priory Primary School or anywhere near Ramsdell, the holidays are the usual time for a TR19® clean. Volunteers running a hall kitchen near Christ Church, or anywhere in Ramsdell, may not know when the extract was last cleaned, and a grease test settles it.
Ramsdell is about 3 miles south of Tadley, in Hampshire. Questions from Ramsdell
Can you come to Ramsdell after we close?
Yes, nights and weekends are routine for us. That way a site in Ramsdell does not have to lose a day’s trading. When you call us on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line, mention when the site is quiet.
Can school kitchens in Ramsdell be cleaned in the holidays?
Yes, and it’s the easiest time to do it. With about 2 schools and colleges on the FSA’s register within roughly a mile and a half of Ramsdell, it pays to plan holiday dates ahead. You can call 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line with the dates the site is empty.
What paperwork do you give after a duct clean?
When the duct is cleaned as part of a full TR19 clean, you get a TR19 certificate and a photo report. It includes readings, pictures and any unreachable sections.
Who is responsible for fire safety on the premises?
In the words of the Fire Safety Order 2005, it’s the responsible person. That’s generally the employer or the person in control of the premises, and where several people have control, each can have duties. Your lease and fire risk assessment should make it clear.
What do you do with what you remove?
It’s contained and taken away. Grease, debris and waste water are collected as the work goes on, so it does not spread.
Which sectors do you work in?
Restaurants and pubs, hotels, schools and colleges, hospitals and care homes, offices and retail, as well as food production and leisure sites.
Can you look after several sites?
Yes. You deal with one contact for every site in our area, and visits can be set on a regular cycle.
How do you clean inside the ductwork?
After a survey and grease readings, the duct is opened up through its access panels. We clean the runs and risers section by section, then the readings are repeated.
