Ductwork cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Micklefield

Duct Doctor has cleaned kitchen extract ductwork since 2009, working across London and the South East. We are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and our certificates are issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal. The work covers horizontal duct runs, access panels and multi-storey ducts, and common reasons people get in touch are a rancid smell from the extract duct and proof of duct cleaning for the insurer.

In a smaller place like Micklefield, many kitchens sit in older buildings or later extensions, where the duct may cross a roof void or climb an outside wall. Flat runs collect grease and need proper access to clean.

The report is your system’s health record: a dated account with photos of everything we did. For TR19® Grease cleans, the certificate comes through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal and sits alongside the report.

Why it’s worth doing now in Micklefield

A fire in a greasy duct is hard to reach and hard to stop. The duct can carry it to rooms, floors or roof spaces well away from the kitchen, which is why the duct matters as much as the canopy. You choose the date of a planned visit, and a breakdown never asks.

When the work has to happen, how we reach it and how big the site is all affect the cost. Each of those is built into the quote, and the price is fixed before any work starts.

Why book with us

  • Photo reports with every job
  • One contact for all your sites in London and the South East
  • Survey first, then a fixed quote
  • A fixed price before any work starts

In-house cleaning or a specialist?

If your staff spot something between visits, such as dripping grease, a noisy fan, a smell or a filter that won’t come clean, they should report it rather than try to fix it. We can diagnose it and quote.

In-house cleaning and specialist cleaning do different jobs. Wiping filters daily and washing them weekly keeps the visible parts in order, but they don’t reach the grease that builds up further in. Reaching it takes a specialist with the right equipment.

Managing agents and facilities teams in Micklefield

We regularly work with managing agents. Tell us the site, the work and the access arrangements, and we will send a fixed quote.

We work for landlords, managing agents and facilities managers as well as the people running the site. Where a system serves more than one tenant, such as a shared riser, it helps to agree who arranges the work, and we can quote for the whole system.

Fixed quotes for ductwork cleaning in Micklefield

The price is fixed before any work begins. It takes into account:

  • One-off work versus a regular cycle
  • The condition of the system
  • Any permits to work or inductions
  • The size of the system

What you pay depends on the size of the system, what state it’s in and access to every part of it. You get a fixed price before we start, so you know where you stand.

Helping us quote

A few details help us quote accurately. With your enquiry, please include:

  • Any access panels or hatches you can see
  • The site address and the type of premises
  • Anything you’ve noticed, such as smells, noise, drips or poor airflow
  • Any previous report or certificate

Quotes are quick. Send a few details and photos, and we normally reply with a fixed quote within one working day. If we need to see the system first, we book a survey around your hours.

Looking after it afterwards

Looking after the system between visits is straightforward, and it helps at the next visit:

  • Diarise the next duct clean
  • Get panels fitted where the duct couldn’t be cleaned
  • Report any grease dripping from duct joints
  • Run the extract fan throughout service

When the duct is cleaned as part of a full TR19® Grease clean, a TR19 certificate is issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal. It records the date, the location and the technician.

Some signs mean the duct needs attention sooner: grease leaking from duct joints, smells, or a fan that sounds rough. Testing will show whether any section has reached 500 microns.

Ductwork cleaning around Micklefield

Food Standards Agency records include about 27 pubs, bars and clubs and about 3 hotels and B&Bs in Micklefield and the streets around it, up to about 1.5 miles out. Breakfasts, bar meals and functions all put grease into the extract wherever they’re cooked. In Micklefield, food businesses are inspected by environmental health officers from Buckinghamshire council. An officer looking round a kitchen will see the canopy, and grease there is hard to miss. Before-and-after photos from each clean are a simple way to show the extract is in hand. Micklefield is covered by Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service. Grease in a kitchen extract is a recognised fire risk, and the fire authority enforces the law on managing it in most commercial premises.

Healthcare kitchens cannot easily close, so their extracts are cleaned overnight or between meal services; the nearest hospital to Micklefield is Hospital of St John the Baptist, about 1.2 miles west. Volunteers running a hall kitchen near St Andrew's Church, or anywhere in Micklefield, may not know when the extract was last cleaned, and a grease test settles it. If you run catering at a historic house or estate in the area (Hughenden Manor is about 2.3 miles north-west), event kitchens in older buildings often have awkward duct runs that need planning.

Your questions about ductwork cleaning in Micklefield

Do you work at weekends in Micklefield?

Yes, nights and weekends are routine for us. The site is handed back ready to open. Your opening times are the first thing we ask for.

Is Micklefield within the area you cover?

Yes. Villages and rural sites across the South East are part of our work, Micklefield included. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the site when you book.

What do you do with what you remove?

Waste is contained during the work and removed when we leave, from grease and debris to used cleaning water. None of it is left on site.

Will we have to shut during the visit?

Not normally. Booking the work out of hours means the site can carry on as normal. Larger jobs can be phased over several visits to keep things running.

Can you quote from photos?

In many cases, yes. With good pictures, the site type and your last report, we can price many jobs. Larger or hidden systems need a survey on site first.

What does TR19 mean?

TR19® is the BESA specification for keeping ventilation systems clean. TR19® Grease, a standalone specification since 2019, covers grease in kitchen extract systems, while TR19® Air covers other supply and extract ductwork.

What types of premises do you cover?

Any site with a kitchen or a ventilation system to look after, from a small pub to a hospital. Hotels, schools, care homes, offices, shops and leisure sites are all part of our work.

Can you clean ductwork with no access panels?

Without a way in, a section can’t be cleaned properly. Those parts are listed, and we can install panels so they’re reached next time.

How it works

Your trading hours come first. We book the visit for a time the area is closed, whether that is an evening, overnight or a weekend. Once we are in, the area is sheeted and anything that has to be off is turned off and cooled, and the job takes anything from a few hours to several visits, depending on the length of duct. Because the survey comes first, a visit to Micklefield can normally be finished without a second trip.

  1. We map the duct route and check where the access panels are.
  2. Grease readings are taken at set points along the duct.
  3. Access panels are opened and heavy deposits scraped out by hand.
  4. The duct is degreased with the method that suits the grease, from degreasers to hot water or steam.
  5. We test again, take photos and note any part that couldn’t be reached.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Tell us the best time to work, such as after service or at a weekend
  • Clear the space around the work
  • Tell us where we can park and unload
