What your team can do, and what needs us

Keep a record of what your team does. A simple log of filter washes, wipe-downs and checks shows an inspector that the system is looked after between visits, next to our reports.

Day-to-day cleaning is something your team can do: wiping canopies, washing grease filters and recording it in a log. What they cannot safely do is clean inside the ductwork, the fan or the risers, which is where we come in.

Ductwork cleaning in Loosley Row

Grease in a duct is hidden, which is exactly why it’s dangerous. Flames pulled in from the cooking line can ignite it, and fire can then run along the ductwork to other parts of the building. Removing it is the whole point. The work covers attenuators, access panels and horizontal duct runs, and people most often call us about thick crusts of old grease along the duct and an insurer asking for TR19 evidence.

Rural kitchens often have long, low duct runs through a roof space or along an outside wall, where grease settles in the flat sections. Access, parking and timings are agreed before the day.

Accreditations are easy to claim and worth checking. Ours are BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, plus CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, with full insurance on top.

Grease, kitchens and Loosley Row

Food Standards Agency data counts about 5 restaurants, cafés and canteens within roughly a mile and a half of the centre of Loosley Row. The duct above a busy canopy coats itself in grease long before anyone sees it. It’s Buckinghamshire council that sends environmental health officers to food businesses in Loosley Row. The cleanliness of the kitchen and its equipment, extraction included, is part of what they check. Before-and-after photos from each clean are a simple way to show the extract is in hand. The fire and rescue service for Loosley Row is Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service. The Fire Safety Order puts the duty on whoever runs a kitchen to control its fire risk, and a greasy duct is fuel.

Bursars and site managers at schools such as St John's Church of England Primary School tend to book extract cleaning for when the kitchen is empty. If your kitchen is in a listed or historic building, like the houses around Loosley Row (West Wycombe Park House is about 3.9 miles south), fitting access panels needs care. Volunteers running a hall kitchen near Church of St John the Evangelist, or anywhere in Loosley Row, may not know when the extract was last cleaned, and a grease test settles it.

Loosley Row questions

Is Loosley Row within the area you cover?

Yes. Villages and rural sites across the South East are part of our work, Loosley Row included. A survey first, from photos or a visit, means we arrive with the right kit.

Which council inspects kitchens in Loosley Row?

Food hygiene inspections in Loosley Row are carried out by Buckinghamshire council. It helps to keep the extract cleaning records with your food safety paperwork, so they’re ready if asked for.

What if parts of the system cannot be reached?

The report shows them clearly. In ductwork, new access panels are often the answer, which we can install.

Do you have a 24/7 line?

Yes, 24/7. Our office is open from 8am to 6pm on weekdays, with the emergency line covering every other hour.

How long does it take to clean extract ducts?

A short duct can be cleaned in a few hours, but long or complex ducts may take several visits. Visits are planned out of hours.

Can you fit access panels in our ductwork?

Yes. The survey or clean shows where sections couldn’t be reached, and fitting them means future cleans are more complete.

Are you accredited?

We hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. The Vent Hygiene Elite scheme is run by BESCA and audited independently.

What’s involved in cleaning extract ducts?

Through access panels along the duct. Thick deposits are removed by hand before degreasing, such as degreasers, hot water or steam.

What a clean will not put right

Ductwork cleaning can’t fix everything, and we’ll tell you before any work starts. It will not put right:

  • Sections that can’t be reached safely without new access (those are recorded, and panels can be fitted)
  • An extract fan that has stopped working
  • Ductwork that’s corroded, split or holed (that needs a ductwork contractor)

Not sure which it is? You can ring 0345 646 2711, or send details by email and we will tell you honestly.

What we work on in Loosley Row

  • Bends and junctions
  • Attenuators
  • Access panels
  • Vertical risers
  • Horizontal duct runs
  • Multi-storey ducts

Aftercare tips

Looking after the system between visits is straightforward, and it helps at the next visit:

  • Have the grease measured if cooking hours go up
  • Make sure filters are seated properly
  • Store the certificate with the fire risk assessment
  • Leave a way through to the access panels

The report gives a recommended next clean date, worked out from the grease we found and how long you cook each day, in line with BESA guidance.

Some signs mean the duct needs attention sooner: grease leaking from duct joints, smells, or a fan that sounds rough. Testing will show whether any section has reached 500 microns.

Multi-site and managed buildings

Keeping records across a portfolio is half the battle. Each visit produces a dated report with pictures, ready to show insurers, fire officers or EHOs.

When the building owner and the occupier are different, it’s worth checking the lease for who maintains the systems. We can quote either party, and the report can go to both.

Why act early in Loosley Row

Under BESA guidance, the mean grease level should stay at or below 200 microns between cleans. A reading of 500 microns or more at any point means a spot clean right away. Leaving the duct makes those limits harder to keep to. Our emergency line runs 24/7, but a planned visit to Loosley Row is calmer for everyone.

One small site or a whole estate, the quote is built the same way: the work involved, the access and the timing. You will have a fixed price before we start.

What you get with us

What we do, step by step

The visit has three parts: getting the area ready, doing the work and signing it off. Getting ready means protecting surfaces and switching off what needs to be off, while signing off means the written report and photos. Most of the time goes on the work itself, which takes from a few hours to more than one visit, depending on duct length and access. Rural roads and tight entrances are worth telling us about before a visit to Loosley Row.

  1. First the duct route is traced and every access point noted.
  2. Grease readings are taken at set points along the duct.
  3. Access panels are opened and heavy deposits scraped out by hand.
  4. Horizontal runs and risers are then degreased by the method that suits the deposit.
  5. We test again, take photos and note any part that couldn’t be reached.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us the best time to work, such as after service or at a weekend
  • Plan for cooking equipment or plant to be off before we arrive
  • Have your last certificate or report to hand

How we price ductwork cleaning

The survey tells us what the work involves. We look at:

  • The number of sites or systems
  • The size of the system
  • One-off work versus a regular cycle
  • Whether we need access equipment or extra panels

Kitchens, offices, schools and hospitals are all priced the same way: how much there is, how we reach it, what state it’s in and when we can work. Ask for a fixed quote and we will explain each part.

Helping us quote

Many jobs can be priced from pictures and some basics. Send what you can of the following:

  • The site address and the type of premises
  • Your opening hours and when the area is out of use
  • A few general shots of the system
  • Any symptoms, from odd noises to smells or leaks

We don’t publish a price list, because no two systems are the same. We look at your system first, from photos or on a visit, then send a fixed quote. To get going, ring 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line.
