Ductwork cleaning near Little Chelsea

About our ductwork cleaning in Little Chelsea

We’ve been trading since 2009, working across London and the South East. As a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, our duct cleaning is done to BESA TR19® Grease, with each certificate issued through the BESCA portal. If you are dealing with thick deposits at the bottom of a vertical duct and a rancid smell from the extract duct, we can help.

In a London area like Little Chelsea, a kitchen extract often passes through shared space on its way out: a riser, a service void, the floors above. A duct fire there can reach parts of the building far from the range, which is why keeping it clean to TR19® matters.

The paperwork matters as much as the work. You get a written report with photos after each visit, listing what was done, anything we couldn’t reach and when the next visit is due. File it in your maintenance log so it’s ready for an insurer, fire officer or EHO.

Between visits

Once we’ve finished, these simple steps help:

  • Keep to the interval on the report
  • Run the extract fan throughout service
  • Ask us about extra access panels where sections can’t be reached
  • Report any grease dripping from duct joints

When the duct is cleaned as part of a full TR19® Grease clean, a TR19 certificate is issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal. It records the date, the location and the technician.

Have access panels fitted where sections cannot be reached. It doesn’t stop grease forming, but it stops it building unseen.

Why act early in Little Chelsea

Fire inside a duct is out of sight and out of reach. It can travel through the ductwork to other parts of the building, which is why the duct matters as much as the canopy. Leaving it on a busy London site only adds to the work.

Putting the work off seldom saves money. Problems in a system tend to grow, which can make the next visit longer. If you are not sure what’s needed, call 0345 646 2711, or email photos and we will give you an honest view and a fixed quote.

How the visit works

Before we leave, we walk the area with whoever is on site. We point out anything that couldn’t be reached or needs a follow-up, and the same goes into the written report. The visit takes from a few hours to more than one visit, depending on duct length and access. If your building in Little Chelsea has sign-in rules, permits or key holders, mention them when you book.

  1. First we diagnose: the route, the access and the grease levels.
  2. A fixed quote follows, based on what we found.
  3. Each section is cleaned in turn through its access panel.
  4. We take extra care at bends and at the foot of risers.
  5. Readings, photos and a recommended next clean date complete the job.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention any locked doors, roof access or ceiling voids
  • Let us know when the site is closed or quiet
  • Tell us about site rules, permits or sign-in

Get a fixed quote

Photos are enough for some jobs, while others need a look on site. Larger sites, and anything hidden behind walls, ceilings or floors, are normally surveyed first. Either way, the quote is fixed before any work is booked.

Ductwork cleaning in Little Chelsea: the local picture

The FSA’s food hygiene register shows about 1,144 restaurants, cafés and works canteens and about 133 sandwich bars and takeaways across Little Chelsea and its immediate surroundings (about a mile and a half). Where they cook under a canopy, grease doesn’t stop at the filters: it settles along the duct and up the riser. Kitchens in Little Chelsea get their food hygiene inspections from Kensington and Chelsea council. The cleanliness of the kitchen and its equipment, extraction included, is part of what they check. Our report lists what was cleaned and when, which is useful to have ready. Night work suits London kitchens, and roads and loading bays tend to be quieter too.

Where a hall near Church of St Andrew, or anywhere in Little Chelsea, hosts lunch clubs or events, its extract gathers grease just as a café’s does. For kitchens close to Imperial Wharf station, where the day often starts early and ends late, the extract can be cleaned overnight. If you run catering at a healthcare site, such as a hospital like Chelsea and Westminster Hospital about within half a mile west, the extract may need cleaning more often than a part-time kitchen.

What your team can do, and what needs us

When your team notices a problem between visits, like drips, unusual noise, smells or damaged filters, they should report it rather than try to fix it. We can diagnose it and quote.

Keep a record of what your team does. A dated log of in-house cleaning and checks shows an inspector that the system is looked after between visits, next to our reports.

What affects the quote in Little Chelsea

We do not publish a price list, because no two systems are the same. The quote depends on:

  • The times the site is available
  • How many systems or sites are involved
  • One-off work versus a regular cycle
  • The scale of the work

No two sites are the same, so each one gets its own fixed quote. The size of the job, how we reach it, its condition and the working hours all play a part.

Asking for a quote

You do not need the technical terms. It helps if you can send:

  • Detail shots of panels, filters and grilles
  • Where the site is and what kind of site it is
  • Your opening hours and when the area is out of use
  • Wide pictures of the system and the area around it

Getting a quote doesn’t take long. Call or email with a few details and you’ll normally have a fixed price within one working day. If we need to see the system first, we book a survey around your hours.

Questions from Little Chelsea

What do you need to know about parking in Little Chelsea?

A loading bay, a visitor permit or off-street space near the site in Little Chelsea makes the visit easier to plan. Working overnight, as we often do in London, normally makes it simpler.

Who enforces fire safety at workplaces in Little Chelsea?

Little Chelsea is in the area of London Fire Brigade. TR19® isn’t law, but it’s the benchmark many fire officers and insurers look to when they ask how often the extract is cleaned.

What happens if there are not enough access panels?

Every reachable section is cleaned and the rest recorded. Fitting extra access panels is the usual answer, and we can do that for you.

Can we book visits on a schedule?

Yes. We run scheduled maintenance contracts, set at the interval the system needs. Each report recommends when the next visit should be.

How often does extract ductwork need cleaning?

The duct is cleaned as part of the whole system, at intervals set by BESA guidance, from every 3 months for heavy use to every 12 months for light use. Readings tell you if it needs to be more often.

What happens if you cannot reach some of it?

They’re listed in the report, never skipped quietly. The report says which parts couldn’t be reached and why, along with a quote to put access in.

How long will the duct clean take?

Short runs are quick, while long ducts and tall risers can need more than one visit. We plan the work around your kitchen.

What’s involved in cleaning extract ducts?

After a survey and grease readings, the duct is opened up through its access panels. Each run and riser is scraped and degreased, then the readings are repeated.

Landlords, agents and facilities managers

Landlords, managing agents and facilities managers book us, not only the businesses that use the systems. Shared systems, like a riser serving several units, need a clear agreement on who books the work, and we can quote for the whole system.

Records are where multi-site compliance often slips. Each visit produces a dated report with photos, so you can show an insurer or inspector what was done at each site.

How the job changes from site to site

Horizontal duct runs

Grease settles on the floor of a flat duct run. We scrape out the heavy layer first, then the walls and roof are cleaned too.

Bends and transitions

Bends, elbows and changes of size are where grease collects most. The air slows and drops its load, so we clean these points carefully.
