About our ductwork cleaning in Jordans
Many ducts were installed with too few access doors. TR19 calls for any section we couldn’t reach to be recorded, and we can fit new access panels so it’s cleaned next time. It’s better to know than to assume. If you’re dealing with a grease test showing the duct is overdue and gaps where access panels were never fitted, we can put it right, from attenuators, horizontal duct runs and bends and junctions onwards.
For a kitchen in or near Jordans, the visit is planned around opening hours and the journey, and the clean covers the whole system, as it would anywhere: canopy, filters, duct, fan and discharge, with a certificate and photo report at the end.
Think of the report as the system’s health record: a dated account with photos of everything we did. For TR19® Grease cleans, the certificate comes through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal, ready for your insurer.

What a clean won’t put right
A few issues sit outside what this work can do:
- A duct that is too small or badly routed for the kitchen (a design issue)
- Duct sections that need replacing
- Duct sealed behind fixed ceilings or walls
If in doubt, call us on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we will say what we think before booking.
What the work covers

What your team can do, and what needs us
Staff cleaning and specialist work aren’t the same thing. Wiping filters daily and washing them weekly keeps the visible parts in order, but they do not reach the grease that builds up further in. Reaching it takes a specialist with the right equipment.
Your own staff can handle the daily basics: wiping down canopy surfaces, cleaning filters and keeping a simple log. Inside the ducts, risers and fan is specialist work, which is where we come in.
The process
There are three stages on the day: set-up, the treatment itself and the sign-off. Getting ready means protecting surfaces and switching off what needs to be off, while signing off means the written report and photos. The middle part takes longest, which takes anything from a few hours to several visits, depending on the length of duct. Photos of the system and how to reach it help us plan a visit to Jordans.
- We trace the duct and find every way in.
- We take grease readings along the route.
- Out of hours, the area is protected and the access panels opened.
- Heavy deposits come out by hand, then each section is degreased.
- We close up, re-test, photograph and record anything out of reach.
Preparing for the visit
- Clear loose items from the work area
- Plan for cooking equipment or plant to be off before we arrive
- Tell us the best time to work, such as after service or at a weekend

Advice
Grease, kitchens and Jordans
Look up Jordans on the FSA’s food hygiene register and you’ll find about 3 restaurants, cafés and works canteens in Jordans and the streets around it, up to about 1.5 miles out. Where they cook under a canopy, grease doesn’t stop at the filters: it settles along the duct and up the riser. It’s Buckinghamshire council that sends environmental health officers to food businesses in Jordans. They look at how clean the premises and equipment are, and the kitchen extract is part of that. Before-and-after photos from each clean are a simple way to show the extract is in hand. Fire safety in Jordans falls to Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service. Its fire safety officers can audit commercial kitchens, and grease in the extract is part of a kitchen’s fire risk.
Healthcare kitchens, like those at hospitals such as Chalfonts and Gerrards Cross Hospital (about 1.5 miles east), often cook for long hours, which puts them in BESA’s heavier-use bands. Church and community hall kitchens, near Church of Holy Trinity or anywhere around Jordans, are easy to forget, but their extracts collect grease like any other. Term dates shape school work: for a school like Jordans School, an extract clean fits neatly into a half-term or summer break.

Managing agents and facilities teams in Jordans
Keeping records across a portfolio is half the battle. Each visit ends with a dated report and photos, so you can show an insurer or inspector what was done at each site.
Running several sites is easier with one contractor. We work across London and the South East, so a run of sites can go into one programme and kept to a regular schedule.
Why deal with it now?
Fire inside a duct is out of sight and out of reach. The duct can carry it to rooms, floors or roof spaces well away from the kitchen, which is why the duct matters as much as the canopy. Out of sight is the usual reason a rural system goes too long without attention.
You won’t find a price list here, because each job is priced on what it involves. Call for a fixed quote, and we will talk you through it.

Looking after it afterwards
How long the results last depends on use and care. Here’s what we suggest:
- Keep to the interval on the report
- Consider fitting panels where the report shows gaps
- Flag drips from the duct straight away
- Keep the fan on while anything is cooking
Access panels are closed and sealed back up after cleaning, and the area around them is cleaned down. Grease and dirty water are contained and removed.
Some signs mean the duct needs attention sooner: drips from the ductwork, stale smells or a noisy fan. Testing will show whether any section has reached 500 microns.
Fixed quotes for ductwork cleaning in Jordans
The survey tells us what the work involves. The main factors are:
- Site requirements such as sign-in and permits
- When the work can happen, such as evenings, overnight or weekends
- The size of the system
- Whether it’s a one-off visit or part of a schedule
Kitchens, offices, schools and hospitals are all priced the same way: the size of the job, access, condition and working hours. Ask for a fixed quote and we will explain each part.
What we need to know
Many jobs can be priced from pictures and some basics. Send what you can of the following:
- Photos showing the whole system and its surroundings
- Any access panels or hatches you can see
- The postcode and the type of business
- The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it
Quoting starts with a diagnosis, either from pictures and details you send or from a site visit. After that, you get a fixed price for the work so you know the cost before work begins.
Jordans: your questions answered
Do you work in villages like Jordans?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. The journey is planned ahead, so a few details about the route help.
Can school kitchens in Jordans be cleaned in the holidays?
Yes, and it’s the easiest time to do it. Food Standards Agency records list about 7 schools, colleges and universities with registered kitchens within about a mile and a half of Jordans. Send us your term dates when you call us on 0345 646 2711, or email photos, and we will fit the work in.
What if part of the duct cannot be reached?
Any section we can’t reach is recorded on the report, in line with TR19. We can fit new access panels so they’re cleaned next time.
What do you do with what you remove?
We contain it and take it with us. We collect grease, debris and waste water as we go, so it doesn’t spread.
Do you look at the system first?
Yes. For many sites, pictures and a few details are enough, and larger or hidden systems get a visit.
Can you set up regular visits?
Yes. We run scheduled maintenance contracts, with visits at the interval your system needs. Each report recommends when the next visit should be.
Do you have insurance?
Yes. Full insurance covers our work and have been trading since 2009.
Do you install duct access panels?
Yes. We will point out where panels are needed, and fitting them means future cleans are more complete.
