Ductwork cleaning in Iden Green
Many ducts were installed with too few access doors. Where a section can’t be reached, TR19 expects it to be recorded on the report, and new panels can be fitted to reach it in future. An honest report beats a guess. Typical jobs include ductwork that has never been cleaned and grease leaking from duct joints, on multi-storey ducts, vertical risers and attenuators.
Rural kitchens often have long, low duct runs through a roof space or along an outside wall, and those horizontal sections are where grease settles. Access, parking and timings are agreed before the day.
Insurers, fire officers and environmental health officers all look at records. So every job comes with a written report and pictures, and grease extract cleans come with a TR19® certificate issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.

Iden Green questions
Is Iden Green within the area you cover?
Yes. Villages and rural sites across the South East are part of our work, Iden Green included. A survey first, from pictures or a visit, means we arrive with the right kit.
Do you work overnight in Iden Green?
Yes, nights and weekends are routine for us. It means the site in Iden Green keeps running as normal. When you give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or email us, mention when the site is quiet.
Can you fit access panels in our ductwork?
Yes, extra panels can be fitted. That lets the next clean reach sections that were missed, and the report will show where they’re needed.
Do you offer emergency callouts?
Yes. For anything urgent, such as a fan failure or damage after a fire, ring the 24/7 line, and we’ll advise on what to do next.
Is there a survey before the work?
Yes. Every job is surveyed first, from your pictures and details, or with a visit where necessary. A fixed quote follows.
Can you price the work without visiting?
In many cases, yes. Photos of the system and the access, plus your opening hours and last report, are often enough. Where we cannot see enough, we arrange a survey.
Who is responsible for fire safety on the premises?
In the words of the Fire Safety Order 2005, it’s the responsible person. It’s normally the employer, or whoever controls the building, and where several people have control, each can have duties. Your lease and fire risk assessment should make it clear.
How much notice should we give?
Earlier is better, particularly for night and weekend visits. Quotes normally come back within one working day, and emergencies are covered by our 24/7 line.
Kitchen extracts in Iden Green
The fire and rescue service for Iden Green is Kent Fire and Rescue Service. Its fire safety officers can audit commercial kitchens, and grease in the extract is part of a kitchen’s fire risk. Iden Green is about 42 miles from central London, well within the area we cover across London and the South East. Visits are booked around your hours, evenings and weekends included.
Older buildings often hide long, awkward duct runs, and if you run a kitchen at a historic venue in the area (Great Dixter is about 4.2 miles south), access may need planning. Term dates shape school work: for a school like Benenden Church of England Primary School, an extract clean fits neatly into a half-term or summer break. A hall kitchen that only cooks for events, whether near Church of St George or elsewhere in Iden Green, still needs its extract cleaned, just less often.
Iden Green is about 13 miles north of Hastings, in Kent. We carry out ductwork cleaning for businesses, landlords and public buildings in Iden Green and the rest of Kent. Across Kent, we cover 922 places, and Iden Green is one of them. There’s also a page for Maidstone, about 15 miles away.
We work across TN17 for ductwork cleaning and the streets around it. Local streets include Coldharbour Road, Chapel Lane and Iden Green Road, all of which we cover for ductwork cleaning. Close by, we work in Benenden (1 mile north), Four Throws (2 miles south-west), Pipsden (2 miles south-west), Sandhurst (2 miles south) and Linkhill (2 miles south). Why deal with it now?
Under BESA guidance, the mean grease level should stay at or below 200 microns between cleans. A reading of 500 microns or more at any point means a spot clean right away. Putting off the clean only pushes readings higher. Planning a trip to Iden Green ahead is easier for everyone than a rushed one.
Every site is different, so each one gets its own fixed quote. Size, access, the condition of the system and when we can work all play a part.

What the work involves, part by part
Bends and transitions
Transitions from the canopy spigot into the duct catch a lot of grease. We clean it from the canopy side or through a nearby panel.
Attenuators and discharge
The discharge is where the duct ends and air leaves the building. Grease can collect there and stain the area around it, so it’s cleaned as far as safe access allows.
In-house cleaning or a specialist?
For ventilation and air handling systems, in-house care is mostly about checks: keeping grilles clear, noting unusual noise or smells and logging filter changes. The inside of ducts and units needs a specialist.
Good housekeeping makes our visits easier, not unnecessary. Clean filters and tidy surfaces slow the build-up, but the parts you can’t see still need a specialist at the right interval.
How the visit works
Each visit runs to the same pattern: sheeting and protection first, make the system safe, do the work, clear away and hand over the paperwork. The visit itself takes from a few hours to more than one visit, depending on duct length and access. The timing of a visit to Iden Green is set by you, and the travel is our side of the planning.
- First the duct route is traced and every access point noted.
- Set points along the runs are tested for grease.
- Through the access panels, thick grease is removed by hand first.
- The duct is degreased with the method that suits the grease, from degreasers to hot water or steam.
- Post-clean readings and pictures go into the report, with any unreachable section listed.
Preparing for the visit
- Dig out any earlier paperwork for the system
- Arrange a key holder or contact on site
- Make sure equipment near the work can be switched off and left to cool
Ask for a quote
The quickest way to a quote is to send photos: wide shots of the system, close-ups of anything that worries you and how we’d get to it. Tell us what kind of site it is and when it’s open, and many jobs can be priced from that alone.

Landlords, agents and facilities managers
Records are where multi-site compliance often slips. Every visit ends with a dated report and photos, ready to show insurers, fire officers or EHOs.
Facilities teams in offices, schools and healthcare sites book us too across Kent. Larger estates can be phased building by building to keep disruption down.
Honest limits
Not every problem is solved by ductwork cleaning, and we’d rather say so up front. It won’t put right:
- Fire dampers that don’t close (they need testing and remedials)
- Undersized or badly laid-out ducts
- A worn-out fan that needs replacing
If you’re not sure, just give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Keeping the system healthy
Results last longer with the right care. We suggest:
- Book the next clean before the recommended date
- Tell us if grease leaks from the ductwork
- Do not block access panels with shelving or stock
- Consider fitting panels where the report shows gaps
The report names every part of the duct that couldn’t be reached, with the reason. We can fit access panels so those sections are cleaned next time.
Run the extract the whole time the kitchen is cooking. When the air stops, grease settles in the duct, so switching off early adds to the build-up.
