Ductwork cleaning for sites in Goosey

What happens if it’s left?

There’s no law that names TR19. The Fire Safety Order 2005 makes the responsible person assess and reduce fire risk, including the grease inside the extract ductwork. In a small place like Goosey, a system that fails can take a site out of use.

The price reflects the work, not guesswork. That is why we survey first, from photos or on site, and the price is agreed before work begins.

About our ductwork cleaning in Goosey

We treat ductwork like a doctor treats arteries: diagnose where grease has built up, clear it and confirm the result. Grease readings before and after give you the evidence, alongside before and after pictures. The work covers access panels, horizontal duct runs and multi-storey ducts, and people most often call us about hardened, baked-on grease in long horizontal runs and a duct clean needed for an insurer.

In a small place like Goosey, kitchens are often in older or extended buildings, with long single-storey duct runs, and those horizontal sections are where grease settles. Access, parking and timings are agreed before the day.

Nothing is signed off by word of mouth: a dated report with photos of the work, and for TR19® Grease cleans, a certificate issued through the BESCA VHE portal. Any parts we couldn’t reach are recorded on it too.

The process

We work around your opening hours, not the other way round. Most visits are booked for when the area is out of use, such as evenings, overnight, early mornings or weekends. Once we’re in, the area is sheeted and anything that has to be off is turned off and cooled, and the job takes a shift or more, depending on the length of the runs and the number of access points. Pictures of the system and its access let us plan the work in Goosey before we set off.

  1. First the duct route is traced and every access point noted.
  2. Set points along the runs are tested for grease.
  3. We open the panels and scrape out the heaviest grease.
  4. Horizontal runs and risers are then degreased by the method that suits the deposit.
  5. We test again, take photos and note any part that couldn’t be reached.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Dig out any earlier paperwork for the system
  • Name a contact who can let us in at the agreed time
  • Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, plant rooms, ceilings or locked areas

  • A duct that’s too small or badly routed for the kitchen (a design issue)

Not sure which it is? You can call 0345 646 2711, or send details by email and we’ll tell you honestly.

Grease, kitchens and Goosey

Goosey sits within the area of Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service. In most workplaces, including commercial kitchens, it’s the fire and rescue authority that enforces the Fire Safety Order. Food hygiene inspections in Goosey are the job of Vale of White Horse council’s environmental health team. The cleanliness of the kitchen and its equipment, extraction included, is part of what they check. A dated certificate in the maintenance file answers the question before it’s asked.

A hospital like Longworth Hospital, about 4.8 miles north-west, is the kind of site where a kitchen may cook for patients, staff and visitors all day.

What we’re called out for in Goosey

Wherever the kitchen is, in Goosey or elsewhere, the duct fills in the same way: daily cooking hours, the menu and the state of the filters. BESA guidance sets minimum intervals of 3, 6 or 12 months depending on daily use.

Most sites get in touch after spotting something like this:

  • Fat dripping from the ductwork
  • Stale grease odours from the duct
  • Readings above 200 microns from a grease thickness test
  • Duct runs that can’t be reached

If you run a church or community hall kitchen, near Church of All Saints or elsewhere in Goosey, its extract still collects grease from every lunch and event.

Our hiring checklist

Common questions in Goosey

Do you work in villages like Goosey?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Photos of the system and directions to the site help us plan the visit.

Can you work in Goosey outside opening hours?

Yes. We work evenings, overnight and at weekends. That way a site in Goosey doesn’t have to lose a day’s trading. Your opening times are the first thing we ask for.

What do you need from me for a quote?

Where the site is, what it is and when it’s open, plus photos of the system and your last certificate or report if you have one.

Do you offer maintenance contracts?

Yes, of course. Tell us what you have and how it’s used, and we’ll suggest a schedule and quote for it.

Is TR19 a legal requirement?

No. TR19® itself is not law; it’s a BESA specification. The legal duty comes from the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005: the responsible person must assess and reduce fire risk, and TR19® is the benchmark for showing that grease in the extract is under control.

Where does the waste go?

It’s contained and taken away. We collect grease, debris and waste water as we go rather than letting it spread.

How much notice do you need?

Book as early as you can for planned work, especially if the next clean or test is due soon. For emergencies, we take calls 24/7.

Do you offer emergency callouts?

Yes, day and night, every day of the year. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm, with the emergency line covering every other hour.

Landlords, agents and facilities managers

For anyone managing more than one site, we can plan visits across the whole estate and price them together. Every building has its own written report, so records stay tidy.

Facilities teams in offices, schools and healthcare sites book us too in Goosey and across Oxfordshire. Larger estates can be phased building by building to keep disruption down.

What staff can safely do

When your team notices a problem between visits, like drips, unusual noise, smells or damaged filters, they should report it rather than try to fix it. We can diagnose it and quote.

Logging matters as much as cleaning. A simple log of filter washes, wipe-downs and checks shows an inspector that the system is looked after between visits, alongside our reports.

What the work involves, part by part

Access panels

After cleaning, every panel is closed and sealed so the duct stays tight. We will tell you if any panel needs replacing.

Bends and transitions

Grease tends to pile up at elbows. We clean it back by hand and with degreaser, and readings are taken there before and after.
