Ductwork cleaning for kitchens and businesses in East Cholderton

We’ve been trading since 2009, working across London and the South East. We are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and our certificates are issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal. We’re often asked to deal with heavy grease at the base of a riser and years of grease along the duct floor, across access panels, vertical risers and attenuators.

In a small place like East Cholderton, kitchens are often in older or extended buildings, with long single-storey duct runs, and those horizontal sections are where grease settles. Access, parking and timings are agreed before the day.

For insurers and inspectors, the record counts. So every job comes with a written report and pictures, plus a TR19® certificate through the BESCA VHE portal where the work is a TR19® Grease clean.

Multi-site and managed buildings

Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the responsible person must assess and reduce fire risk, which may be the employer, owner, landlord, FM or managing agent. Where responsibility is shared, records matter even more.

Facilities teams in offices, schools and healthcare sites book us too across Hampshire. Work can be phased by floor, building or site around the people who use them.

Looking after it afterwards

No system stays clean for ever, but care slows the build-up. Our tips:

  • Keep grease filters clean and fitted whenever you cook
  • Get panels fitted where the duct couldn’t be cleaned
  • Keep your cleaning records together
  • Don’t block access panels with shelving or stock

When the duct is cleaned as part of a full TR19® Grease clean, a TR19 certificate is issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal. It shows when and where the clean was done and by whom.

The less grease gets past the canopy, the cleaner the duct stays. Clean, properly seated filters are the duct’s best protection.

What your team can do, and what needs us

Some jobs should never be done in-house: entering ducts, working on fans, testing dampers and taking grease readings need training, the right equipment and safe access. Leave those to us.

Good housekeeping makes our visits easier, not unnecessary. Clean filters and tidy surfaces slow the build-up, but the parts you cannot see still need a specialist at the right interval.

How the job changes from site to site

Access panels

Every section of duct is cleaned through an access panel. Where there are none, those sections cannot be cleaned and the report has to say so.

Bends and transitions

Bends, elbows and changes of size are where grease collects most. The air slows and drops its load, so we clean these points carefully.

Fixed quotes for ductwork cleaning in East Cholderton

There’s no set price list, because no two systems are the same. What we look at:

  • The number of sites or systems
  • The size of the system
  • Whether it’s a one-off visit or part of a schedule
  • How easy every part is to reach

When the work has to happen, how we reach it and how big the site is can all change the price. We take each of them into account and give you a fixed price before work begins.

Asking for a quote

There’s no need for technical detail. Just send:

  • Detail shots of panels, filters and grilles
  • Wide photos of the system and the area around it
  • The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it
  • The postcode and the type of business

For a fixed quote, ring 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line with the site type, your trading hours and a short description of the system. Photos and the last report, if you have one, make the quote quicker. You’ll usually have a quote within one working day.

Questions from East Cholderton

Who inspects food businesses in East Cholderton?

Food hygiene inspections in East Cholderton are carried out by Test Valley council. Have your latest TR19® certificate and photo report to hand, as an officer may ask how the extract is maintained.

Do you work at weekends in East Cholderton?

Yes, nights and weekends are routine for us. It means the site in East Cholderton keeps running as normal. When you call us on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email, mention when the site is quiet.

What happens if there aren’t enough access panels?

Sections out of reach are written down on the report, in line with TR19. New panels can be fitted to reach them in future.

Can extra access doors be added to the duct?

Yes, extra panels can be fitted. It means more of the duct can be cleaned next time, and the report will show where they’re needed.

What shows that the ducts need a clean?

Start with the date of the last clean. No record, or a passed date, means it’s due, and grease readings will confirm how urgent it is.

How often does extract ductwork need cleaning?

At least as often as BESA guidance sets for your cooking hours. Kitchens cooking 12 to 16 hours a day need it at least every 3 months, while lighter use can go longer.

Are you fully insured?

Yes, we are fully insured. We also hold CHAS and SafeContractor, for sites that check contractor safety.

What does TR19 mean?

It’s the industry benchmark for cleaning ventilation and kitchen extract systems, written by BESA. It covers how systems are inspected, cleaned and checked, and it takes a risk-based approach.

What ductwork cleaning cannot fix

A few issues sit outside what this work can do:

  • An extract fan that has stopped working
  • Parts of the duct with no way in
  • Ductwork that was poorly designed

Not sure which it is? You can call 0345 646 2711 or email us and we will tell you honestly.

Parts of the system we cover

  • Attenuators
  • Multi-storey ducts
  • Bends and junctions
  • Horizontal duct runs
  • Vertical risers
  • Access panels

The process

A visit follows the same order every time: sheeting and protection first, isolate whatever needs isolating, do the work, tidy up and hand over the paperwork. On site, the work takes anything from a few hours to several visits, depending on the length of duct. We agree a date with you, plan the drive to East Cholderton and turn up when the site is quiet.

  1. We trace the duct and find every way in.
  2. We take grease readings along the route.
  3. Once the kitchen has closed, we protect the area and open the panels.
  4. Heavy deposits come out by hand, then each section is degreased.
  5. We close up, re-test, photograph and record anything out of reach.

Preparing for the visit

  • Make sure equipment near the work can be switched off and left to cool
  • Have your last certificate or report to hand
  • Arrange a key holder or contact on site
