Ductwork cleaning for sites in Chute Forest

Do you need ductwork cleaning in Chute Forest?

Many ducts do not have enough access panels. Stretches with no way in may never have been touched, and the grease there keeps building out of sight.

Look out for these warning signs:

  • Fat dripping from the ductwork
  • Thick deposits at the bottom of a vertical duct
  • Sections of duct with no access panels
  • Ductwork that has never been cleaned

Volunteers running a hall kitchen near St Mary's Church, or anywhere in Chute Forest, may not know when the extract was last cleaned, and a grease test settles it.

Questions to ask before booking

  • Whether the quote shows VAT
  • Whether they’re fully insured
  • Exactly which parts of the system are covered
  • Whether they recommend a next date

Choosing a duct cleaning contractor

Ductwork cleaning in Chute Forest, done properly

We’ve been trading since 2009, working across London and the South East. We’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and our certificates are issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal. We are often asked to deal with grease leaking from duct joints and years of grease along the duct floor, on attenuators, horizontal duct runs and bends and junctions.

Somewhere as small as Chute Forest, commercial kitchens are few: perhaps a pub, a school or care home kitchen, or a hall used for events. Each still has a canopy and duct that collect grease.

We are CHAS and SafeContractor accredited, we hold ISO 9001 and we’re fully insured. On top of that, we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, trading since 2009.

What ductwork cleaning cannot fix

A few issues sit outside what this work can do:

  • Undersized or badly laid-out ducts
  • Duct sections that need replacing
  • A damper stuck open in the duct

If in doubt, call us on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we will say what we think.

Parts of the system we cover

  • Bends and junctions
  • Vertical risers
  • Horizontal duct runs
  • Access panels
  • Attenuators
  • Multi-storey ducts

Different parts, different methods

Multi-storey and shared buildings

Ducts in taller or shared buildings often run past other occupiers. Access is planned with the building’s managers, so the clean is done safely and quietly.

Access panels

Access panels are the doors that let us into the duct. Where there are none, those sections cannot be cleaned, and TR19 expects them to be recorded.

What we do, step by step

Your staff don’t need to do much on the day. A contact on site lets us in at the agreed time and points us to the system, and we take it from there. Afterwards, the area is left tidy and the written report follows. If the van will struggle with a lane or gateway near Chute Forest, let us know and we will plan around it.

  1. We start by working out how the duct runs and where it can be opened.
  2. Grease readings are taken at set points along the duct.
  3. Through the access panels, thick grease is removed by hand first.
  4. The duct is degreased with the method that suits the grease, from degreasers to hot water or steam.
  5. Readings and photos are repeated and any section we couldn’t reach is recorded.

How to prepare

  • Let us know about parking and loading
  • Agree a time when the area can be out of use
  • Make sure equipment near the work can be switched off and left to cool

Advice

Between visits

Simple habits between visits make a real difference. We recommend:

  • Ask us about extra access panels where sections cannot be reached
  • Make sure filters are seated properly
  • File each certificate and photo report in the maintenance log
  • Book the next clean before the recommended date

Every panel we open is refitted when we finish, and the area around them is cleaned down. Grease and dirty water are contained and removed.

Book the next duct clean before the date passes. If the kitchen starts cooking longer hours, the interval may need to shorten, and grease thickness testing will show it.

What affects the cost of ductwork cleaning

A fixed price needs a few facts first. We look at:

  • How many systems or sites are involved
  • Access, including roofs, risers and ceiling voids
  • Working hours and out-of-hours timing
  • Any permits to work or inductions

One small site or a whole estate, we price it on the same basis: the work involved, the access and the timing. You will have a fixed price before any work starts.

Asking for a quote

When you call or email, it’s useful to have:

  • Anything you’ve noticed, such as smells, noise, drips or poor airflow
  • Your opening hours and when the area is out of use
  • Photos showing the whole system and its surroundings
  • The postcode and the type of business

Want a quote for ductwork cleaning? Please give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or email us and tell us about the site. We will talk you through the work and send you a fixed quote before you commit to anything.

Questions from Chute Forest

Can you come to Chute Forest after we close?

Yes, we can come after you close and finish before you open. It means the site in Chute Forest keeps running as normal. Your opening times are the first thing we ask for.

Will you come out to Chute Forest?

Yes. Chute Forest is within the area we cover across London and the South East. A survey first, from pictures or a visit, means we arrive with the right kit.

Do you survey before quoting?

Yes. Photos often do the job, while bigger or harder-to-see systems are surveyed on site.

Where does the waste go?

We take it away at the end of the visit. While we work, it’s kept contained so the area stays clean.

What information do you need?

Just the basics: where it is, what kind of site, when it’s open and the access. Photos and the last report help too. Then call 0345 646 2711, or send details by email.

Do you have a 24/7 line?

Yes, any time. For anything urgent, such as a fan failure or damage after a fire, ring the 24/7 line and we’ll talk you through the next steps.

Will I get a report after the ducts are cleaned?

When the duct is cleaned as part of a full TR19 clean, you get a TR19 certificate and a photo report. It includes readings, pictures and any unreachable sections.

Which accreditations do you hold?

We hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. The Vent Hygiene Elite scheme is run by BESCA and audited independently.

Staff cleaning versus specialist work

For ventilation and air handling systems, in-house care is mostly about checks: keeping grilles clear, noting unusual noise or smells and logging filter changes. Cleaning inside ducts and units is specialist work.

Your own staff can handle the daily basics: wiping canopies, washing grease filters and recording it in a log. Inside the ducts, risers and fan is specialist work, which is where we come in.

Kitchen extracts in Chute Forest

Kitchens in Chute Forest get their food hygiene inspections from Test Valley council. They look at how clean the premises and equipment are, and the kitchen extract is part of that. Before-and-after photos from each clean are a simple way to show the extract is in hand. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service covers Chute Forest. Fire and rescue authorities enforce the Fire Safety Order in most non-domestic premises, and in a kitchen that fire risk includes the grease in the extract.

If you run catering at a healthcare site, such as a hospital like Andover War Memorial Hospital about 4.3 miles south-east, the extract may need cleaning more often than a part-time kitchen.

Chute Forest is about 5 miles north-west of Andover, in Hampshire. We provide ductwork cleaning for businesses, landlords and public buildings in Chute Forest and the rest of Hampshire.
