- Thick crusts of old grease along the duct
- Duct runs with no cleaning record
How we handle ductwork cleaning in Blackmore
Many ducts were installed with too few access doors. Where a section cannot be reached, TR19 expects it to be recorded on the report, and we can fit new access panels so it’s cleaned next time. An honest report beats a guess. If you have a rancid smell from the extract duct and a duct clean needed for an insurer, we can help, from multi-storey ducts, bends and junctions and horizontal duct runs onwards.
Somewhere as small as Blackmore, commercial kitchens are few: perhaps a pub, a school or care home kitchen, or a hall used for events. Every one of them still needs its extract kept clear of grease.
The sign-off is always in writing: a written report, dated and illustrated with photos, and for TR19® Grease cleans, a certificate issued through the BESCA VHE portal. Any parts we couldn’t reach are recorded on it too.

FAQs for Blackmore
Can you work in Blackmore outside opening hours?
Yes. We work evenings, overnight and at weekends. It means the site in Blackmore keeps running as normal. Your opening times are the first thing we ask for.
Who carries out food hygiene inspections in Blackmore?
That is Brentwood council, whose environmental health officers carry out food hygiene inspections in Blackmore. Ratings are published by the Food Standards Agency, so a clean extract and good records are worth keeping up.
Is a quote from pictures possible?
Yes, where the pictures show enough. Otherwise, we book a survey at a time that suits the site, then a fixed quote.
Do you survey before quoting?
Yes. Photos often do the job, while bigger or harder-to-see systems are surveyed on site.
How is kitchen extract ductwork cleaned?
After a survey and grease readings, the duct is opened up through its access panels. Each run and riser is scraped and degreased, and test again when we are done.
How can I tell if my extract ducts are dirty?
The date on the last certificate is the first thing to check. No record, or a passed date, means it’s due, and grease readings will confirm how urgent it is.
Can extra access doors be added to the duct?
Yes, we install duct access panels. Panels go where they give the best access to sections that couldn’t be reached, and we’ll recommend where.
Can one contract cover all our sites?
Yes. Our area covers London and the South East, so sites at different addresses can be planned together on one programme. Each site gets its own report and pictures.
How the job changes from site to site
Vertical risers
A riser takes the duct up through one or more floors. Grease runs down the walls and gathers at the base, which is one of the points we test.
Horizontal duct runs
Long horizontal runs need access panels at regular intervals. Any stretch out of reach is noted and can fit extra panels.
What happens on the day
Your staff do not need to do much on the day. Someone lets us in at the agreed time and shows us where everything is, and the rest is down to us. Afterwards, the area is left tidy and the written report follows. Somewhere as small as Blackmore, the date and timings are agreed with you well before the day.
- The duct route is surveyed and every access point found.
- Grease thickness is measured at set points.
- Out of hours, the area is protected and the access panels opened.
- Heavy deposits come out by hand, then each section is degreased.
- Panels are closed, readings and photos repeated, and unreachable sections recorded.
Preparing for the visit
- Make sure someone can let us in and lock up afterwards
- Tell us where we can park and unload
- Mention any locked doors, roof access or ceiling voids

Some systems can be priced from photos; others need a survey. Larger sites, and anything hidden behind walls, ceilings or floors, are normally surveyed first. Either way, you get a fixed price before work begins.
Advice
Grease, kitchens and Blackmore
Food Standards Agency records include about 5 pubs and bars in and around Blackmore, up to about a mile and a half out. Where they serve hot food, their kitchen extracts need cleaning to TR19® like any restaurant’s. It’s Brentwood council that sends environmental health officers to food businesses in Blackmore. A greasy canopy or dripping filters are the sort of thing an inspection can pick up. A TR19® certificate and photo report after each clean gives you a record to show an inspector. Essex County Fire and Rescue Service covers Blackmore. Grease in a kitchen extract is a recognised fire risk, and the fire authority enforces the law on managing it in most commercial premises.
Bursars and site managers at schools such as Blackmore Primary School tend to book extract cleaning for when the kitchen is empty. Older buildings often hide long, awkward duct runs, and if you run a kitchen at a historic venue in the area (Ingatestone Hall is about 3.8 miles south-east), access may need planning. Church and community hall kitchens, near Church of St Laurence or anywhere around Blackmore, are easy to forget, but their extracts collect grease like any other.

Why act early in Blackmore
Fire inside a duct is out of sight and out of reach. It can travel through the ductwork to other parts of the building, which is why the duct matters as much as the canopy. Equipment tucked in a roof space or outbuilding near Blackmore rarely gets looked at unless someone books it.
You will not find a price list here, because each job is priced on what it involves. Call for a fixed quote, and we will talk you through it.

Fixed quotes for ductwork cleaning in Blackmore
The price is fixed before any work begins. It takes into account:
- When the work can happen, such as evenings, overnight or weekends
- Whether we need access equipment or extra panels
- Site requirements such as sign-in and permits
- One-off work versus a regular cycle
Kitchens, offices, schools and hospitals are all priced the same way: how much there is, how we reach it, what state it’s in and when we can work. Call for a fixed quote and we’ll go through it with you.
Asking for a quote
To help us quote quickly, please include:
- A few general shots of the system
- Anything you’ve noticed, such as smells, noise, drips or poor airflow
- The roof, plant room or outside wall the system runs to
- Any access panels or hatches you can see
For a fixed quote, call 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form with the site type, your trading hours and a short description of the system. Photos and the last report, if you have one, make the quote quicker. You’ll normally have a quote within one working day.
Between visits
No system stays clean for ever, but care slows the build-up. A few tips:
- Leave a way through to the access panels
- Keep your cleaning records together
- Do not switch the extract off early
- Flag drips from the duct right away
When the duct is cleaned as part of a full TR19® Grease clean, a TR19 certificate is issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal. It records the date, the location and the technician.
The less grease gets past the canopy, the cleaner the duct stays. Clean, properly seated filters are the duct’s best protection.
Landlords, agents and facilities managers
Where a tenant occupies the premises but the landlord owns the building, the lease normally sets out who maintains what. We can quote either party, and the report can go to both.
Whether it’s one building or many, you get the same standard: the system surveyed, the price fixed, the visit fitted around trading and everything written up afterwards.
