Common questions in Badlesmere

Do you work at weekends in Badlesmere?

Yes, nights and weekends are routine for us. That way a site in Badlesmere does not have to lose a day’s trading. Tell us your opening hours when you ask for a quote.

Who is the fire and rescue service for Badlesmere?

That is Kent Fire and Rescue Service. TR19® is not law, but it’s the benchmark many fire officers and insurers look to when they ask how often the extract is cleaned.

Which sectors do you work in?

All kinds of commercial and public premises: from restaurants, pubs and hotels to schools, hospitals, care homes, offices, shops and food production sites. Work is timed around how each site runs.

How much does ductwork cleaning cost in Badlesmere?

It depends on the site, so we quote each one individually. To get one, ring 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form and tell us about the site and its opening hours.

Do you have insurance?

Yes, we are fully insured. CHAS and SafeContractor accreditation sit alongside it for clients who vet their contractors.

Where does the waste go?

It’s contained and taken away. Grease, debris and waste water are collected as the work goes on, so it does not spread.

Who is responsible for fire safety on the premises?

Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, it’s the responsible person: normally the employer or whoever controls the premises. In shared or managed buildings, a landlord, facilities manager or managing agent can share the duty.

Do we need to close while you work?

Usually not. Booking the work out of hours means the site can carry on as normal. Bigger sites can be done in stages to keep things running.

About our ductwork cleaning in Badlesmere

Each extract duct we take on in Badlesmere goes through the full routine: readings at set points, heavy grease scraped out by hand, then degreasing to suit the deposit. Readings are taken again afterwards and photos go into your report. The work covers attenuators, vertical risers and horizontal duct runs, and people most often call us about grease seeping out of the duct seams and readings above 200 microns from a grease thickness test.

For a kitchen in or near Badlesmere, the visit is planned around opening hours and the journey, and the clean covers the whole system, as it would anywhere: canopy, filters, duct, fan and discharge, with a certificate and photo report at the end.

We’re CHAS and SafeContractor accredited, we hold ISO 9001 and we’re fully insured. On top of that, we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, trading since 2009.

How it works

The first job on site is protection: sheeting goes over floors and surfaces close to the work. Then we make the system safe and start. The work on site takes a shift or more, depending on the length of the runs and the number of access points, and we clear up before we go. Photos of the system and how to reach it help us plan a visit to Badlesmere.

  1. The duct route is surveyed and every access point found.
  2. Grease thickness is measured at set points.
  3. Out of hours, the area is protected and the access panels opened.
  4. Thick grease is scraped out, then the runs and risers are degreased.
  5. We close up, re-test, photograph and record anything out of reach.

How to prepare

  • Let us know when the site is closed or quiet
  • Mention any parking or loading restrictions
  • Plan for cooking equipment or plant to be off before we arrive

Getting a quote

Some systems can be priced from photos; others need a survey. Larger sites, and anything hidden behind walls, ceilings or floors, are normally surveyed first. Either way, you get a fixed price before any work starts.

For landlords and multi-site operators

Running several sites is easier with one contractor. We cover South East England and London, so a run of sites can go into one programme and kept to a regular schedule.

If you look after several sites, we can schedule visits across all of them on one quote. Every building has its own written report, so each one has its own record.

Looking after it afterwards

No system stays clean for ever, but care slows the build-up. Our tips:

  • Ask us about extra access panels where sections can’t be reached
  • File each certificate and photo report in the maintenance log
  • Keep access panels clear of stored items
  • Diarise the next duct clean

Keep the certificate and report with the fire risk assessment. An insurer, fire officer or EHO may ask to see it, and the pictures make the duct’s condition easy to see.

The less grease gets past the canopy, the cleaner the duct stays. Keep the filters clean, well fitted and in place whenever you cook.

In-house cleaning or a specialist?

For ventilation and air handling systems, in-house care is mostly about checks: clear grilles, a log of filter changes and reporting anything odd. Cleaning inside ducts and units is specialist work.

A few tasks are always specialist work: opening up ductwork, cleaning fans, drop testing fire dampers and measuring grease need training, the right equipment and safe access. Leave those to us.

What ductwork cleaning looks like in Badlesmere

Badlesmere is covered by Kent Fire and Rescue Service. Fire and rescue authorities enforce the Fire Safety Order in most non-domestic premises, and in a kitchen that fire risk includes the grease in the extract. Badlesmere is about 45 miles from central London, well within the area we cover across London and the South East. We work evenings, overnight and at weekends, so the visit fits around the site.

Older buildings often hide long, awkward duct runs, and if you run a kitchen at a historic venue in the area (Belmont House and Gardens is about 1.9 miles north-west), access may need planning. If you look after a school kitchen, at a school such as Sheldwich Primary School or anywhere near Badlesmere, the holidays are the usual time for a TR19® clean.

Badlesmere is about 4 miles south of Preston, in Kent. Sites in Badlesmere get the same service as everywhere we cover: a survey first, a fixed quote, work timed around your hours and a report with photos. Across Kent, we cover 922 places, Badlesmere among them. There’s also a page for Maidstone, about 15 miles away.

When it’s something else

Ductwork cleaning can’t fix everything, and we’ll tell you before any work starts. It does not solve:

  • Leaking duct joints that need repair
  • Fire dampers that don’t close (they need testing and remedials)
  • A failed fan motor at the end of the duct (a fan repair job)

If in doubt, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we’ll say what we think.

Where we work

  • Horizontal duct runs
  • Vertical risers
  • Access panels
  • Bends and junctions
  • Multi-storey ducts
  • Attenuators

How we price ductwork cleaning

Before we fix a price, we need to know a few things. We look at:

  • When the work can happen, such as evenings, overnight or weekends
  • The scale of the work
  • Site rules, permits and inductions
  • Whether several sites go on one quote

A single site or a whole portfolio, we price it on the same basis: the work involved, the access and the timing. The price is fixed before we start.

Asking for a quote

To speed up the quote, send us:

  • Problems your staff have spotted
  • How we’d reach plant on a roof or in a plant room
  • The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it
  • Wide pictures of the system and the area around it

Want a quote for ductwork cleaning? Please ring 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form and tell us about the site. We will explain what we’d do and send a fixed quote before you commit to anything.

Common problems we fix in Badlesmere

Ducts in Badlesmere gather grease for the same reasons as ducts anywhere: daily cooking hours, the menu and the state of the filters. Under BESA guidance, the minimum interval is 3, 6 or 12 months, by daily cooking hours.

Keep an eye out for these warning signs:

  • Heavy grease at the base of a riser
  • Duct runs that can’t be reached
  • A duct clean needed for an insurer
  • Duct runs with no cleaning record

A hall kitchen that only cooks for events, whether near Church of St Leonard or elsewhere in Badlesmere, still needs its extract cleaned, just less often.

What your quote should include

  • What happens if part of the system can’t be accessed
  • Whether a survey comes first
  • Whether the whole system is included, or only the parts that are easy to reach
  • What hours they’ll be on site
