Ductwork cleaning in Askett

Landlords, agents and facilities managers

For anyone managing more than one site, we can plan visits across the whole estate and price them together. Each site gets its own report and photos, so records stay tidy.

Keeping records across a portfolio is half the battle. Each visit produces a dated report with pictures, ready to show insurers, fire officers or EHOs.

Ductwork cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Askett

We have been trading since 2009, working across London and the South East. As a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, our duct cleaning is done to BESA TR19® Grease, with each certificate issued through the BESCA portal. The work covers horizontal duct runs, vertical risers and bends and junctions, and common reasons people get in touch are sections of duct with no access panels and proof of duct cleaning for the insurer.

In a small place like Askett, kitchens are often in older or extended buildings, with long single-storey duct runs, and those horizontal sections are where grease settles. Access, parking and timings are agreed before the day.

It’s worth checking any contractor’s accreditations. Ours are BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, plus CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured.

Questions from Askett

Can the work in Askett be done at night or at weekends?

Yes. We work evenings, overnight and at weekends. Your customers, staff or residents in Askett needn’t be disturbed. Your opening times are the first thing we ask for.

Which fire authority looks after Askett?

Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service is the fire and rescue service for Askett. TR19® is not law, but it’s the benchmark many fire officers and insurers look to when they ask how often the extract is cleaned.

Can you come out in an emergency?

Yes, day and night, every day of the year. Our office is open from 8am to 6pm on weekdays, with the emergency line covering every other hour.

What do you do to protect the area?

We start with protection: floor sheeting and covers over nearby surfaces and equipment. We tidy up and take our waste away before we leave.

Do you have insurance?

Yes, fully. We also hold CHAS and SafeContractor for clients who vet their contractors.

What happens if you cannot reach some of it?

The report shows them clearly. In ductwork, new access panels are often the answer, and we can fit those.

Can you set up regular visits?

Yes. Scheduled maintenance plans are part of what we do, with visits at the interval your system needs. Each report recommends when the next visit should be.

What if part of the duct can’t be reached?

Sections out of reach are written down on the report, as TR19 expects. New panels can be fitted to reach them in future.

What staff can safely do

Keep a record of what your team does. A dated log of in-house cleaning and checks helps show that the system is managed between specialist visits, next to our reports.

Away from the kitchen, the in-house job is mainly checking: keeping grilles clear, noting unusual noise or smells and logging filter changes. The inside of ducts and units needs a specialist.

Kitchen extracts in Askett

Food Standards Agency records list about 14 restaurants, cafés and works canteens and about 4 sandwich bars and takeaways within about 1.5 miles of central Askett. Wherever those kitchens cook under a canopy, the horizontal runs and risers need cleaning as well as the hood. Fire safety in Askett falls to Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service. Its fire safety officers can audit commercial kitchens, and grease in the extract is part of a kitchen’s fire risk. Food hygiene inspections in Askett are the job of Buckinghamshire council’s environmental health team. An officer looking round a kitchen will see the canopy, and grease there is hard to miss. Our report lists what was cleaned and when, which is useful to have ready.

Bursars and site managers at schools such as Monks Risborough CofE Primary School tend to book extract cleaning for when the kitchen is empty. Kitchens that cook twelve hours or more a day, as some healthcare kitchens do, fall into BESA’s three-monthly minimum; Stoke Mandeville Hospital is the nearest hospital to Askett, about 4.1 miles north. For kitchens close to Monks Risborough station, where the day often starts early and ends late, the extract can be cleaned overnight.

Askett is about 5 miles south of Aylesbury, in Buckinghamshire. Why deal with it now?

Dealing with the ductwork in Askett now beats dealing with it after a problem. The work takes a shift or more, depending on the length of the runs and the number of access points, done out of hours so the kitchen keeps cooking. Somewhere as small as Askett, losing a kitchen or building to a fault is felt by everyone who uses it.

Kitchens, offices, schools and hospitals are all priced the same way: the size of the job, access, condition and working hours. Call for a fixed quote and we will explain each part.

Why book with us

  • CHAS and SafeContractor accredited, with ISO 9001
  • Fixed quotes, normally within one working day
  • A written report with pictures after every visit
  • Fully insured

Take a look at how cleaning jobs are priced or how to check a contractor.

Looking after it afterwards

A little care between visits keeps the system in better shape. Our advice:

  • Make sure filters are seated properly
  • Flag drips from the duct straight away
  • Check readings when the menu changes
  • Keep your cleaning records together

After the clean, the same points are tested again, so the report shows the before and after figures. Photos of each section go alongside them.

Watch for warning signs between cleans: grease leaking from duct joints, smells, or a fan that sounds rough. A grease thickness test can confirm whether a spot clean is needed.

When it’s something else

A few issues sit outside what this work can do:

  • Duct sealed behind fixed ceilings or walls
  • Duct sections that need replacing
  • An extract fan that has stopped working

If in doubt, call 0345 646 2711 or email us and we will say what we think before booking.

What the work covers

  • Bends and junctions
  • Vertical risers
  • Multi-storey ducts
  • Access panels
  • Attenuators
  • Horizontal duct runs

The process

On the day, we arrive at the time agreed with you, which is often after service, overnight or at a weekend. Equipment that has to be off is switched off and allowed to cool before any work starts, and the area around the work is covered and protected. On site, it takes a shift or more, depending on the length of the runs and the number of access points. Somewhere as small as Askett, the date and timings are agreed with you well before the day.

  1. We map the duct route and check where the access panels are.
  2. Grease readings are taken at set points along the duct.
  3. Access panels are opened and heavy deposits scraped out by hand.
  4. The duct is degreased with the method that suits the grease, from degreasers to hot water or steam.
  5. Readings and photos are repeated and any section we couldn’t reach is recorded.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any locked doors, roof access or ceiling voids
  • Agree a time when the area can be out of use
  • Tell us about site rules, permits or sign-in

How we price ductwork cleaning

The diagnosis comes before the price. We look at:

  • When the work can happen, such as evenings, overnight or weekends
  • One-off work versus a regular cycle
  • How easy every part is to reach
  • Travel, parking and unloading

A single site or a whole portfolio, we price it on the same basis: what needs doing, how we get to it and when. The price is fixed before any work starts.

Asking for a quote

There’s no need for technical detail. Just send:

  • Any access panels or hatches you can see
  • Anything you’ve noticed, such as smells, noise, drips or poor airflow
  • Where the plant sits or the system leaves the building, such as a roof or outside wall
  • Your opening hours and when the area is out of use

Quoting starts with a diagnosis, from your photos and details or, where that isn’t enough, a survey on site. After that, you get a fixed price for the work so you know the cost before work begins.
