Southcourt canopy cleaning
For canopy cleaning in Southcourt, one call is all it takes: survey, fixed quote, work and sign-off. CHAS and SafeContractor accredited, ISO 9001 and fully insured.
- Poor capture at the hood
- Grease filters blocking between washes
- Grease dripping from the canopy edge
How the visit works
Your trading hours come first. We book the visit for a time the area is closed, whether that’s an evening, overnight or a weekend. When the team arrives, the work area is protected and the relevant equipment is switched off to cool, and the job takes a few hours, depending on the size of the canopy and how much grease has built up. Around Southcourt, access is normally simpler than in a town centre, though gates and roof access are worth mentioning.
- We look at the canopy, filters and troughs first.
- Out of hours, the range is switched off, cooled and covered.
- With the filters removed, the plenum and filter channels are cleaned.
- Inside and out, the hood and its troughs are cleaned.
- Filters are refitted, the area cleaned down and the photo report put together.
How to prepare
- Find the previous report, if there is one
- Tell us about site rules, permits or sign-in
- Make sure equipment near the work can be switched off and left to cool
Getting a quote
To get a fixed quote, call 0345 646 2711, or email photos with the site type, your trading hours and a short description of the system. A few photos and your last certificate or report help a lot. You’ll normally have a quote within one working day.

Canopy cleaning in Southcourt, done properly
We clean canopies in Southcourt when the kitchen isn’t cooking: after service, overnight or at the weekend. The equipment underneath is switched off, left to cool and sheeted, and the kitchen is left ready for the next service. The work covers wall canopies, baffle filters and canopy light fittings, and common reasons people get in touch are overflowing grease troughs and gutters and condensation running down the canopy.
In a smaller place like Southcourt, the kitchens with extract systems are more likely to be a pub, a café, a takeaway or a school or care home kitchen than a big restaurant. A kitchen that cooks fewer hours still builds up grease, so cleaning is planned around how much it cooks and what the readings show.
It’s worth checking any contractor’s accreditations. Ours are BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, plus CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, with full insurance on top.

FAQs for Southcourt
Do you work overnight in Southcourt?
Yes, evening, overnight and weekend work is normal for us. Your customers, staff or residents in Southcourt needn’t be disturbed. When you call 0345 646 2711, or email photos, mention when the site is quiet.
Who is the fire and rescue service for Southcourt?
Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service is the fire and rescue service for Southcourt. TR19® is not law, but it’s the benchmark many fire officers and insurers look to when they ask how often the extract is cleaned.
How far ahead should we book?
It depends on the time you need and how big the job is. Tell us your preferred dates when you ask for a quote, and for anything urgent, ring our 24/7 emergency line.
Do you survey before quoting?
Yes, always. Diagnosis comes before treatment: the survey tells us what the system needs and how to reach it, and the quote is based on that.
How long will it take to clean the canopy?
That depends on the size of the canopy and how much grease is on it. Typically it takes a few hours for most canopies.
Do you offer maintenance contracts?
Yes. Scheduled maintenance plans are part of what we do, with visits at the interval your system needs. The report from each visit recommends the next date.
What causes grease to drip from the hood?
Full gutters and a heavily coated plenum are the common causes. With nowhere to collect, the grease overflows, and condensation can carry it too. Cleaning the canopy and plenum clears it.
Which canopies and hoods do you clean?
Canopies in pubs, restaurants, hotels, schools, care homes, offices and other kitchens. Whatever is cooked under it, the canopy is cleaned the same thorough way, with the equipment off and cool.
Why deal with it now?
Grease on the canopy is sitting just above the heat source. Flames from the range can ignite it and be pulled further into the system, where a fire is much harder to stop. A clean canopy takes that fuel away. A site near Southcourt that has to close at short notice is hard to cover for.
One small site or a whole estate, we price it on the same basis: the work involved, the access and the timing. You’ll have a fixed price before we start.

Keeping the system healthy
No system stays clean for ever, but care slows the build-up. A few tips:
- Use non-abrasive cloths on the hood
- Keep every filter in place while cooking
- Clean the baffle filters often
- Give the canopy a wipe after service
We point out anything we noticed while the canopy was apart: bent or poorly fitting filters, a light cover that is cracked, or troughs that fill too quickly. We keep it to what matters.
Clean filters are the canopy’s first defence. Keep them on a regular cleaning or exchange cycle, and make sure they’re all in place before cooking. Less grease gets into the plenum as a result.
What the work involves, part by part
Island canopies
The underside of an island canopy is in full view, so the finish matters. It’s degreased and photographed for your report.
Grease troughs and gutters
A blocked or full trough is the usual cause of grease dripping from the canopy. We clean it out so the grease has somewhere to go.
Common problems we fix in Southcourt
Steam and condensation make canopy grease harder to deal with. Water vapour condenses on the cooler canopy surfaces and drips, carrying grease with it. Drips onto the cooking line are a common result.
Common reasons sites call us are:
- Heavy deposits behind the grease filters
- Greasy streaks across the canopy
- Condensation and grease dripping together
- Smoke hanging around the canopy during service
If you run a church or community hall kitchen, near Church of the Good Shepherd or elsewhere in Southcourt, its extract still collects grease from every lunch and event.

What your team can do, and what needs us
A few tasks are always specialist work: opening up ductwork, cleaning fans, drop testing fire dampers and measuring grease call for the right kit, training and safe access. Leave those to us.
Keep a record of what your team does. A dated log of in-house cleaning and checks helps show that the system is managed between specialist visits, next to our reports.
Southcourt kitchens: local notes
Food Standards Agency records list about 91 restaurants, cafés and canteens and about 52 sandwich bars and takeaways within about 1.5 miles of central Southcourt. Each canopy in those kitchens catches grease on the inside of the hood and behind the filters. The fire and rescue service for Southcourt is Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service. In most workplaces, including commercial kitchens, it’s the fire and rescue authority that enforces the Fire Safety Order. In Southcourt, food businesses are inspected by environmental health officers from Buckinghamshire council. An officer looking round a kitchen will see the canopy, and grease there is hard to miss. Our report lists what was cleaned and when, which is useful to have ready.
Kitchens that cook twelve hours or more a day, as some healthcare kitchens do, fall into BESA’s three-monthly minimum; Stoke Mandeville Hospital is the nearest hospital to Southcourt, about 0.8 miles south-east. If you run a café or takeaway near Aylesbury station, early starts and late finishes leave little time to clean, so overnight extract cleaning suits.
