Landlords, agents and facilities managers

From a single site to a large estate, the standard is the same: diagnosis, a fixed price, work booked around your hours and a written report with photos.

Landlords, managing agents and facilities managers book us, not only the businesses that use the systems. Where a system serves more than one tenant, such as a shared riser, it helps to agree who arranges the work, and we can quote for the whole system.

Canopy cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Langrish

The canopy is where the extract system breathes in. If it’s coated in grease, everything downstream gets more of it. We start the check-up there, and the treatment is a thorough degrease of the hood, plenum and housing. We’re often asked to deal with a plenum thick with grease behind the filters and a canopy that no longer draws the smoke away, across plenum chambers, baffle filters and grease gutters.

Somewhere as small as Langrish, commercial kitchens are few: perhaps a pub, a school or care home kitchen, or a hall used for events. Every one of them still needs its extract kept clear of grease.

Insurers, fire officers and environmental health officers all look at records. So every job comes with a written report and pictures, plus a TR19® certificate through the BESCA VHE portal where the work is a TR19® Grease clean.

What canopy cleaning can’t fix

It’s worth knowing the limits before booking:

  • A hood that does not cover the cooking line
  • Filters that no longer seal in the housing
  • Ductwork and fans beyond the canopy (those need a full TR19 clean)

If you are not sure, just give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email and we will give you a straight answer.

Where we work

  • Island canopies
  • Baffle filters
  • Wall canopies
  • Grease gutters
  • Canopy light fittings
  • Plenum chambers

Keeping the system healthy

Looking after the system between visits is straightforward, and it helps at the next visit:

  • Wash or exchange the filters on a regular cycle
  • Keep every filter in place while cooking
  • Tell us when the canopy starts to drip
  • Use non-abrasive cloths on the hood

Anything worth knowing goes into the report: damaged filters, gaps around the housing or troughs that need emptying more often. We keep it to what matters.

A daily wipe of the hood keeps fresh grease from baking on. It does not reach the plenum, but it stops the outside building up.

What the work involves, part by part

Grease troughs and gutters

Where a trough drains into a grease cup, we empty and clean that as well, and we will show staff where it is.

Pub and hotel kitchens

In pubs and hotels, the kitchen may be busy for much of the day. That’s a lot of grease on the canopy, so it may need cleaning between full TR19 cleans.

Why it’s worth doing now in Langrish

Leaving the canopy until the next full clean can mean months of build-up. In a busy kitchen, the canopy and plenum can need attention between TR19 cleans, and readings or a look behind the filters will show it. A fault that closes a site in a village like Langrish affects everyone who depends on it.

What you pay depends on the size of the system, the condition it’s in and access to every part of it. We give you a fixed price before we start, so you know where you stand.

How it works

Every visit runs to the same pattern: protect the area, make the system safe, do the work, clear away and leave you the report. The visit itself takes a few hours, depending on the size of the canopy and how much grease has built up. Somewhere as small as Langrish, the date and timings are agreed with you well before the day.

  1. First the canopy is surveyed, by pictures or in person.
  2. Equipment below is switched off and left to cool, then sheeted.
  3. Filters come out and the plenum behind them is scraped and degreased.
  4. Inside and out, the canopy and its grease channels are degreased.
  5. We refit the filters, clear up and photograph the finished canopy.

Before we arrive

  • Clear loose items from the work area
  • Let us know about permits to work or site inductions
  • Dig out any earlier paperwork for the system

How to get a quote

Photos are enough for some jobs, while others need a look on site. Big or complicated sites, and systems that are hard to see in pictures, get a survey first. Either way, you get a fixed price before any work starts.

Your questions about canopy cleaning in Langrish

Do you work in villages like Langrish?

Yes, Langrish is part of our area, however small the site. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

Which fire authority looks after Langrish?

That is Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service. Records of extract cleaning are a sensible thing to have ready if a fire safety officer carries out an audit.

Is TR19 a legal requirement?

No. TR19® is BESA’s specification, not legislation. The legal duty comes from the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005: the responsible person must assess and reduce fire risk, and TR19® is the benchmark for showing that grease in the extract is under control.

Why does grease run off the canopy edge?

Grease that builds up inside the canopy has to go somewhere. When the gutters fill, it overflows onto the range, often mixed with condensation. A thorough clean stops it.

Is the inside of the hood cleaned?

The whole canopy, inside and out. The plenum behind the filters is included, since that is where grease hides.

What should I send you?

Some photos and a quick description of the system plus the address and your hours. If we need more, we’ll ask.

What do you do to protect the area?

By covering it before any work starts. We keep the work contained and leave the area clean.

Do you work with multi-site operators?

Yes. Send the list of sites and the work at each and you will get one fixed quote.

What staff can safely do

If your staff spot something between visits, like drips, unusual noise, smells or damaged filters, it’s best reported rather than tackled in-house. We’ll take a look and give you a fixed quote.

Your own staff can handle the daily basics: wiping down canopy surfaces, cleaning filters and keeping a simple log. What they can’t safely do is clean inside the ductwork, the fan or the risers, and that is where we come in.
