Canopy cleaning for sites in Frogmore

Canopy cleaning in Frogmore, done properly

We clean canopies in Frogmore when the kitchen is not cooking: after service, overnight or at the weekend. The equipment underneath is switched off, left to cool and sheeted so the kitchen is ready when we go. The work covers plenum chambers, island canopies and grease gutters, and common reasons people get in touch are a filter housing caked in grease and grease filters blocking between washes.

Rural kitchens often have long, low duct runs through a roof space or along an outside wall, and those horizontal sections are where grease settles. We agree access and timings in advance.

Our accreditations include CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured. On top of that, we are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, trading since 2009.

What your team can do, and what needs us

If your staff spot something between visits, such as dripping grease, a noisy fan, a smell or a filter that will not come clean, it’s best reported rather than tackled in-house. We can diagnose it and quote.

Logging matters as much as cleaning. A simple log of filter washes, wipe-downs and checks helps show that the system is managed between specialist visits, alongside our reports.

Why it’s worth doing now in Frogmore

Fresh grease comes off far more easily than old. Over months, the heat hardens it into a stubborn coating, which makes a later clean slower and harder. Systems in rural buildings are often out of sight and out of mind.

You won’t find a price list here, because the cost depends on the site in front of us. For a fixed quote, phone us on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line, and we will talk you through it.

Why us?

  • One contact for all your sites in London and the South East

Take a look at how cleaning jobs are priced and our accreditations.

How the visit works

We work around your opening hours, not the other way round. Most visits are booked for when the area is out of use, such as evenings, overnight, early mornings or weekends. Once we are in, the area is sheeted and anything that has to be off is turned off and cooled, and the work takes a few hours for most canopies. If you can send photos, we can arrive in Frogmore knowing what to expect.

  1. We look at the canopy, filters and troughs first.
  2. Once the kitchen has closed, the cooking line is cooled and sheeted.
  3. With the filters removed, the plenum and filter channels are cleaned.
  4. The canopy shell, seams, troughs and gutters are degreased inside and out.
  5. We put the filters back, tidy up and photograph the finished canopy.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Find the previous report, if there is one
  • Mention any sign-in, permit or induction we need
  • Allow time for equipment near the work to be turned off and cool down

How to get a quote

Every quote begins with a look at the system, from your photos and details or, where that is not enough, a survey on site. After that, you get a fixed price for the work, before any work starts.

Questions from Frogmore

Can school kitchens in Frogmore be cleaned in the holidays?

Yes, out-of-term visits are normal for schools. With about 5 schools and colleges on the FSA’s register within roughly a mile and a half of Frogmore, it pays to plan holiday dates ahead. Tell us your holiday dates and we’ll book the visit for when the site is empty.

Do you work in villages like Frogmore?

Yes. Villages and rural sites across the South East are part of our work, Frogmore included. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

What’s TR19?

TR19® is the BESA specification for keeping ventilation systems clean. TR19® Grease, a standalone specification since 2019, covers grease in kitchen extract systems, and TR19® Air covers general supply and extract systems.

Do we lose a day’s trading?

Not usually. The area we’re working in has to be out of use while we are there, so the visit goes in a quiet slot.

Can you look after several sites?

Yes. You deal with one contact for every site in our area, with visits on a regular schedule.

Does the law say we must follow TR19?

Not in itself. Insurers, fire officers and EHOs look to TR19® as the benchmark, and many insurance policies ask for proof of TR19® cleaning. The law behind it is the Fire Safety Order 2005, which applies in England and Wales.

Which canopies and hoods do you clean?

Canopies in pubs, restaurants, hotels, schools, care homes, offices and other kitchens. The routine stays the same whatever the kitchen, with the equipment off and cool.

Will I get a report after the canopy clean?

A photo report, with before and after pictures of the canopy and plenum. The report includes a recommended next clean date.

Looking after it afterwards

Here’s the after-treatment advice, in brief:

  • Tell us when the canopy starts to drip
  • Check filters are not leaving gaps
  • Leave the extract running until cooking stops
  • Check and empty canopy gutters regularly

We point out anything we noticed while the canopy was apart: damaged filters, gaps around the housing or troughs that need emptying more often. We keep it to what matters.

A change in how the canopy behaves is worth reporting. It can mean the cooking has changed or the interval is too long, which a grease thickness test can confirm.

Managing agents and facilities teams in Frogmore

Where a tenant occupies the premises but the landlord owns the building, the lease normally sets out who maintains what. We can quote either party and send the paperwork to whoever needs it.

Whether it’s one building or many, you get the same standard: the system surveyed, the price fixed, the visit fitted around trading and everything written up afterwards.

Canopy cleaning around Frogmore

There are about 15 restaurants, cafés and works canteens and about 14 takeaways in and around Frogmore, up to about a mile and a half out, according to the Food Standards Agency’s register. Every kitchen among them that cooks under a canopy has a hood, plenum and filters collecting grease. Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service covers Frogmore. In most workplaces, including commercial kitchens, it’s the fire and rescue authority that enforces the Fire Safety Order. It’s St Albans City council that sends environmental health officers to food businesses in Frogmore. A greasy canopy or dripping filters are the sort of thing an inspection can pick up. A TR19® certificate and photo report after each clean gives you a record to show an inspector.

For kitchens close to How Wood station, where the day often starts early and ends late, the extract can be cleaned overnight. If you look after a school kitchen, at a school such as Park Street Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School or anywhere near Frogmore, the holidays are the usual time for a TR19® clean.

What canopy cleaning can’t fix

A few issues sit outside what this work can do:

  • A light fitting that doesn’t work
  • A canopy too small for the cooking under it (that’s a design question)
  • Ductwork and fans beyond the canopy (those need a full TR19 clean)

Not sure which it is? You can call us on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

The quote reflects the site in front of us. We consider:

  • Parking and loading at the site
  • Whether it’s a one-off visit or part of a schedule

  • The size of the system

Helping us quote

  • Problems your staff have spotted
  • Any previous report or certificate
  • Where the site is and what kind of site it is
  • Any access panels or hatches you can see

Photos are the quickest way to a quote: wide shots of the system, close-ups of anything that worries you and how we’d get to it. Tell us what kind of site it is and when it’s open, and we can price many jobs without a visit.
