Burdrop canopy cleaning
Canopy cleaning in Burdrop from ventilation hygiene specialists trading since 2009. Evenings, overnight and weekends, plus a 24/7 emergency line.
- A canopy flagged at an environmental health inspection
- Grease filters blocking between washes
- Wet, greasy drips from the hood
How we handle canopy cleaning in Burdrop
Canopy cleaning is part of every full TR19® Grease clean, but a canopy can also need cleaning on its own, between full system cleans. In that case, the report makes clear what was and wasn’t cleaned, so your records stay accurate. If you’re dealing with filters that never seem to stay clean and an EHO comment about the canopy, we can put it right.
Somewhere as small as Burdrop, commercial kitchens are few: perhaps a pub, a school or care home kitchen, or a hall used for events. Every one of them still needs its extract kept clear of grease.
Our accreditations include CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are fully insured. On top of that, we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we’ve been trading since 2009.

How the job changes from site to site
Island canopies
Everything about an island canopy is on show so a clean, even finish matters. We degrease it thoroughly and photograph the result.
Plenums and filter housings
Filter housings hold the filters in place, and their channels fill with grease. Clean housings let the filters seat properly and leave no gaps.
When something else is needed
In fairness, there are a few things this work will not fix:
- Weak extraction caused by a failing fan motor
- Grease in the duct runs and risers behind the canopy
- A hood that doesn’t cover the cooking line
If you are not sure, just give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or email us and we will give you a straight answer before booking.
What we work on in Burdrop
- Island canopies
- Wall canopies
- Baffle filters
- Canopy light fittings
- Grease gutters
- Plenum chambers
When to call us in Burdrop
Moisture in the air mixes with the grease on the canopy. Water vapour condenses on the cooler canopy surfaces and drips, carrying grease with it. The result is sticky streaks and drips onto the range.
If you notice any of these, it’s worth a diagnosis:
- Overflowing grease troughs and gutters
- Drips from the canopy onto the range
- A canopy that no longer draws the smoke away
- Condensation and grease dripping together
Historic houses near Burdrop, such as Broughton Castle about 3.8 miles east, are a reminder that older buildings with event kitchens can have long, awkward duct routes.
What your quote should include
- Whether they’re fully insured
- When the next visit should be, and why
- Whether the quote is based on a survey or pictures
- What records you’ll receive afterwards
How the visit works
There are three stages on the day: getting the area ready, doing the work and signing it off. Set-up means sheeting and making equipment safe, and the sign-off is a written report with pictures. Most of the time goes on the work itself, which takes a few hours, depending on the size of the canopy and how much grease has built up. If the van will struggle with a lane or gateway near Burdrop, let us know and we will plan around it.
- We look at the canopy first, from pictures or on a visit.
- Cooking equipment is left to cool and the area under the canopy protected.
- We remove the grease filters and clean the plenum and filter housing.
- Inside and out, the canopy and its grease channels are degreased.
- We refit the filters, clear up and photograph the finished canopy.
Getting ready for the visit
- Let us know when the site is closed or quiet
- Tell us about site rules, permits or sign-in
- Plan for cooking equipment or plant to be off before we arrive
Ask for a quote
There’s no standard price list, because every site is different. Instead, we look at your site first, from pictures or a survey, and then give you a fixed quote. To start, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email.
Advice
Common questions in Burdrop
Who enforces fire safety at workplaces in Burdrop?
It’s Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service, which covers Burdrop. If a fire safety officer visits a commercial kitchen, they may ask about the fire risk assessment and how the extract is kept clean.
Do you cover smaller places like Burdrop?
Yes. Villages and rural sites across the South East are part of our work, Burdrop included. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
How much does canopy cleaning cost?
We don’t publish prices, because the cost depends on the job: how big it is, what state it’s in, how we reach it and the working hours. We fix the price before work begins.
How far ahead should we book?
Book as early as you can for planned work, especially if the next clean or test is due soon. For emergencies, we take calls 24/7.
Can you come out in an emergency?
Yes, any time. If something urgent happens, like a fan failing or damage after a fire, call our 24/7 line and we will talk you through the next steps.
Do we need to close the kitchen for a canopy clean?
We clean when you’re not cooking, so most kitchens do not lose a service. We work evenings, nights and weekends.
Do you provide pictures of the cleaned canopy?
A photo report shows the canopy and plenum before and after. If the canopy is cleaned as part of a full TR19 clean, a TR19 certificate is issued too.
Do you have insurance?
Yes, we are fully insured. We also hold CHAS and SafeContractor for clients who vet their contractors.
For landlords and multi-site operators
For anyone managing more than one site, we can schedule visits across all of them on one quote. Every building has its own written report, so records stay tidy.
Managing agents often deal with us directly. Send the address, what’s needed and how access works and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.
Why act early in Burdrop
A greasy canopy is fuel directly above the flame. A flare-up can catch it and be drawn into the plenum and duct, where a fire is much harder to stop. A clean canopy takes that fuel away. Our emergency line runs 24/7, but a planned visit to Burdrop is calmer for everyone.
No two sites are the same, so we price each one individually. The size of the job, how we reach it, its condition and the working hours all play a part.

Between visits
Simple habits between visits make a real difference. Our advice:
- Clean the baffle filters often
- Run the extract the whole time you’re cooking
- Keep grease cups and drawers emptied
- Use non-abrasive cloths on the hood
A before and after photo report follows the clean. It notes what was cleaned and anything we couldn’t reach, so the record is honest and complete.
A daily wipe of the hood keeps fresh grease from baking on. It doesn’t reach the plenum, but it stops the outside building up.
Kitchen extracts in Burdrop
In Burdrop, food businesses are inspected by environmental health officers from Cherwell council. They look at how clean the premises and equipment are, and the kitchen extract is part of that. A dated certificate in the maintenance file answers the question before it’s asked. The fire and rescue service for Burdrop is Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service. Its fire safety officers can audit commercial kitchens, and grease in the extract is part of a kitchen’s fire risk.
If you run a church or community hall kitchen, near Church of Holy Trinity or elsewhere in Burdrop, its extract still collects grease from every lunch and event. For schools such as Sibford Gower Endowed Primary School, kitchen extract cleaning is normally booked for the holidays, when the canteen is closed.
