Need canopy cleaning in Bluetown?

About our canopy cleaning in Bluetown

Every TR19® Grease clean includes the canopy, but a canopy can also need cleaning on its own, between full system cleans. Where that is the case, we will be clear that the ducts and fan aren’t included, so your records stay accurate. If you’re dealing with filters that clog soon after cleaning and grease dripping from the canopy edge, we can help.

For a kitchen in or near Bluetown, the visit is planned around opening hours and the journey, and the clean itself is the same full TR19® job as in any town: canopy, filters, duct, fan and discharge, with a certificate and photo report at the end.

It’s worth checking any contractor’s accreditations. We’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured.

Grease, kitchens and Bluetown

In Bluetown, food businesses are inspected by environmental health officers from Swale council. The cleanliness of the kitchen and its equipment, extraction included, is part of what they check. Our report lists what was cleaned and when, which is useful to have ready. Kent Fire and Rescue Service covers Bluetown. Grease in a kitchen extract is a recognised fire risk, and the fire authority enforces the law on managing it in most commercial premises.

Term dates shape school work: for a school like Milstead and Frinsted Church of England Primary School, an extract clean fits neatly into a half-term or summer break. Older buildings often hide long, awkward duct runs, and if you run a kitchen at a historic venue in the area (Belmont House and Gardens is about 4.4 miles east), access may need planning.

Bluetown is about 4 miles south of Sittingbourne, in Kent. For canopy cleaning in and around Bluetown, please ring 0345 646 2711 or email us for a fixed quote. Our area covers London and the South East, including Bluetown. Bluetown is one of 922 towns, villages and districts in Kent where we work for canopy cleaning. Do you need canopy cleaning in Bluetown?

Grease does not build up any differently in Bluetown: the hours and the type of cooking decide how fast. High-heat cooking coats it fastest.

It’s time to book a visit if you see:

  • A canopy that no longer draws the smoke away
  • Filters that never seem to stay clean
  • An EHO comment about the canopy
  • Greasy streaks across the canopy

Volunteers running a hall kitchen near Church of St Catherine, or anywhere in Bluetown, may not know when the extract was last cleaned, and a grease test settles it.

Before you book anyone

  • Proof of insurance
  • If they look at the system before pricing
  • Whether the quote shows VAT
  • How areas they cannot reach will be recorded

Aftercare tips

Think of this as the after-treatment advice, in brief:

  • Keep the fan on through service
  • Clean the hood’s outer surfaces daily
  • Keep filters on a set cleaning routine
  • Tell us when the canopy starts to drip

Keep the photo report with your maintenance log where an inspector can see it. Before and after photos speak for themselves.

Keep the fan running throughout service and for a short while after. Air that keeps moving carries less grease onto the canopy.

Staff cleaning versus specialist work

If your staff spot something between visits, such as dripping grease, a noisy fan, a smell or a filter that won’t come clean, it’s best reported rather than tackled in-house. We can diagnose it and quote.

Day-to-day cleaning is something your team can do: wiping canopies, washing grease filters and recording it in a log. Inside the ducts, risers and fan is specialist work, and that is where we come in.

Different parts, different methods

Grease troughs and gutters

Grease channels around the canopy collect what runs down the inside. They’re emptied and cleaned during the job, so they can do their job again.

Plenums and filter housings

Behind the grease filters is the plenum. It catches whatever gets past the filters, and it’s cleaned every time we clean the canopy.

What a clean won’t put right

It’s worth knowing the limits before booking:

  • Filters that no longer seal in the housing
  • Ductwork and fans beyond the canopy (those need a full TR19 clean)
  • A hood that does not cover the cooking line

If you’re not sure, just ring 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

What the work covers

  • Canopy light fittings
  • Wall canopies
  • Grease gutters
  • Baffle filters
  • Island canopies
  • Plenum chambers

Bluetown questions

Which fire service covers Bluetown?

Kent Fire and Rescue Service is the fire and rescue service for Bluetown. If a fire safety officer visits a commercial kitchen, they may ask about the fire risk assessment and how the extract is kept clean.

Is Bluetown within the area you cover?

Yes, Bluetown is part of our area, however small the site. A survey first, from pictures or a visit, means we arrive with the right kit.

What types of premises do you cover?

We work for restaurants, pubs, hotels, schools, colleges, hospitals, care homes, offices and shops, as well as food production and leisure sites.

Do you look at the system first?

Yes. Every job is surveyed first, from your photos and details, or with a visit where necessary. Then you get a fixed quote.

How much of the canopy do you clean?

Everything from the outer face to the plenum behind the filters. Troughs, gutters and filter housings are cleaned too.

Are you accredited?

We hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. Vent Hygiene Elite is run by BESCA and independently audited.

Does a canopy clean meet TR19?

A canopy-only clean is possible, but it is not a full TR19 clean. For TR19, the whole system needs cleaning, at intervals set by BESA guidance.

Do you provide pictures of the cleaned canopy?

Before and after photos go into a report, listing what was cleaned. A full TR19 clean adds a certificate from the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.

How it works

We turn up at the time agreed with you, often in the evening, overnight or at the weekend so the site keeps working. Anything that needs to be off for the work is switched off and left to cool before we start, and floors and nearby surfaces are sheeted. The work itself takes an hour or two for one small canopy, longer where there are several. Pictures of the system and its access let us plan the work in Bluetown before we set off.

  1. Diagnosis first: we look behind the filters as well as at the hood.
  2. Equipment is turned off and cooled, and the area under the canopy is protected.
  3. Heavy deposits come off by hand, then the surfaces are degreased.
  4. We finish the plenum, troughs and canopy and check them over.
  5. The canopy is signed off with before and after photos and a next clean date.

How to prepare

  • Mention any locked doors, roof access or ceiling voids
  • Find the previous report, if there is one
  • Arrange a key holder or contact on site

Getting a quote

We don’t publish a price list, because no two systems are the same. We look at your system first, from pictures or on a visit, and then give you a fixed quote. To start, call 0345 646 2711 or send us an email.

How we price canopy cleaning

We quote each job individually. These are the things that affect it:

  • Site requirements such as sign-in and permits
  • How many systems or sites are involved
  • How big the system is
  • A single visit or a regular plan

What you pay depends on how big the system is, the condition it’s in and access to every part of it. We give you a fixed price before any work starts, so you know where you stand.

What we need to know

What to send for a quote:

  • Anything you’ve noticed, such as smells, noise, drips or poor airflow
  • How we’d reach plant on a roof or in a plant room
  • Any access panels or hatches you can see
  • A few general shots of the system

The quickest way to a quote is to send pictures: wide shots of the system, close-ups of anything that worries you and how we’d get to it. Add the site type and your opening hours, and we can price many jobs without a visit.
