Canopy cleaning in Binscombe

Canopy cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Binscombe

Every canopy we clean in Binscombe gets the same treatment: we remove the filters, clean the plenum and housing, then degrease the canopy shell. Before and after pictures go into your report. We’re often asked to deal with grease filters blocking between washes and condensation and grease dripping together, across grease gutters, wall canopies and plenum chambers.

Rural kitchens often have long, low duct runs through a roof space or along an outside wall, where grease settles in the flat sections. Access, parking and timings are agreed before the day.

Our accreditations include CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are fully insured. On top of that, we are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, trading since 2009.

Binscombe questions

Do you work overnight in Binscombe?

Yes. We work evenings, overnight and at weekends. It means the site in Binscombe keeps running as normal. Your opening times are the first thing we ask for.

Which environmental health team covers Binscombe?

The local authority for Binscombe is Guildford council, and its environmental health team does the inspecting. How often a business is inspected depends on the risk rating the council gives it, so it’s worth staying ready all year.

Do you work with multi-site operators?

Yes. Tell us the addresses and what each needs and we’ll quote them together.

Which kinds of sites do you work on?

Commercial premises of every kind: from restaurants, pubs and hotels to schools, hospitals, care homes, offices, shops and food production sites. Work is timed around how each site runs.

Do you have insurance?

Yes. We are fully insured, and we can share the details when you need them.

What should I send you?

Only a few details: where it is, what kind of site, when it’s open and the access. Photos and any previous paperwork make it quicker. Then call 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line.

Will I get a report after the canopy clean?

Before and after photos go into a report that lists what was cleaned and anything we couldn’t reach. Where the whole system is cleaned, you also get a TR19 certificate through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.

What do you do with what you remove?

Waste is contained during the work and removed when we leave, from grease and debris to used cleaning water. None of it is left on site.

What the work involves, part by part

Wall canopies

A long wall canopy may hold several sections of filters. Each section’s plenum and housing is cleaned in turn, with pictures for each.

Plenums and filter housings

Behind neglected filters, the plenum can be heavily coated. We remove thick grease by hand, then degrease.

Landlords, agents and facilities managers

Multi-site operators often want one contractor and one number. We cover South East England and London, so visits at different addresses can be planned together and kept to a regular schedule.

We also work for facilities teams across offices, schools and healthcare in Binscombe and across Surrey. Larger estates can be phased building by building around the people who use them.

What your team can do, and what needs us

Some jobs should never be done in-house: opening up ductwork, cleaning fans, drop testing fire dampers and measuring grease need training, the right equipment and safe access. Leave those to us.

Staff cleaning and specialist work are not the same thing. Wiping filters daily and washing them weekly keeps the visible parts in order, but they do not reach the grease that builds up further in. That part needs specialist access and equipment.

Looking after it afterwards

Looking after the system between visits is straightforward, and it makes the next visit easier:

  • Avoid harsh scourers that scratch the canopy
  • Refit filters the right way round and fully seated
  • Never run the range with a filter out
  • Clean the baffle filters often

Keep the photo report with your maintenance log, so it’s ready when an EHO, insurer or fire officer asks. Photos of a clean canopy and plenum make the record easy to follow.

Wipe the canopy surfaces at the end of each day. It will not replace a professional clean, but it slows the build-up you can see.

What affects the cost of canopy cleaning

The price is fixed before any work begins. It’s based on:

  • Site requirements such as sign-in and permits
  • When the work can happen, such as evenings, overnight or weekends
  • The scale of the work
  • The number of sites or systems

The price reflects the work, not guesswork. That is why every job is surveyed first, and why the quote is fixed before any work starts.

Asking for a quote

We can often survey from photos. Try to include:

  • Where the site is and what kind of site it is
  • Wide photos of the system and the area around it
  • Close-ups of filters, grilles, hatches or access panels
  • The times we could work without disrupting the site

For a fixed quote, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email and tell us the type of site, your opening hours and roughly what the system looks like. A few photos and your last certificate or report help a lot. You will typically have a quote within one working day.

What we do, step by step

The first job on site is protection: sheeting goes over floors and surfaces close to the work. After that, the system is made safe and the work begins. The work on site takes a few hours for most canopies, and we clear up before we go. Somewhere like Binscombe, lanes, gates and parking are worth mentioning in advance.

  1. The canopy is checked from pictures or on a visit.
  2. Out of hours, the range is switched off, cooled and covered.
  3. We lift out the filters and scrape the plenum and housing.
  4. Inside and out, the hood and its troughs are cleaned.
  5. We put the filters back, tidy up and photograph the finished canopy.

Before we arrive

  • Make sure equipment near the work can be switched off and left to cool
  • Have your last certificate or report to hand
  • Make sure someone can let us in and lock up afterwards

Getting a quote

There’s no standard price list, because no two systems are the same. We look at your system first, from photos or on a visit, and then give you a fixed quote. To get going, call us on 0345 646 2711, or email photos.

Canopy cleaning in Binscombe: the local picture

The Food Standards Agency lists about 15 bars, pubs and nightclubs as registered food businesses within 1.5 miles or so of the middle of Binscombe. A pub or hotel kitchen that cooks every day builds up grease in its extract like any other. The fire and rescue service for Binscombe is Surrey Fire and Rescue Service. Fire and rescue authorities enforce the Fire Safety Order in most non-domestic premises, and in a kitchen that fire risk includes the grease in the extract. Kitchens in Binscombe get their food hygiene inspections from Guildford council. A greasy canopy or dripping filters are the sort of thing an inspection can pick up. Keeping each certificate and photo report on file helps show the extract is looked after.

If you run catering at a healthcare site, such as a hospital like Farnham Road Hospital about 2.4 miles north-east, the extract may need cleaning more often than a part-time kitchen. For kitchens close to Farncombe station, where the day often starts early and ends late, the extract can be cleaned overnight. Volunteers running a hall kitchen near St John the Evangelist Church, or anywhere in Binscombe, may not know when the extract was last cleaned, and a grease test settles it.

What happens if it’s left?

A greasy canopy is fuel directly above the flame. A flare-up can catch it and be drawn into the plenum and duct, where a fire is much harder to stop. A clean canopy takes that fuel away. Equipment tucked in a roof space or outbuilding near Binscombe rarely gets looked at unless someone books it.

No two sites are the same, so we price each one individually. The size of the job, how we reach it, its condition and the working hours all make a difference.
