Canopy cleaning in Ash

About our canopy cleaning in Ash

Grease troughs, seams and the inside edge of the canopy are the spots a daily wipe misses. Thick deposits are scraped off by hand, then the surfaces degreased to suit what’s there, using hot water or steam where it helps. If you are dealing with a greasy hood noticed by an inspector and filters that clog soon after cleaning, we can put it right, from canopy light fittings, baffle filters and wall canopies onwards.

In a small place like Ash, kitchens are often in older or extended buildings, with long single-storey duct runs, and those horizontal sections are where grease settles. Access, parking and timings are agreed before the day.

Our accreditations include CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are fully insured. We’re also a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we’ve been trading since 2009.

What happens if it’s left?

Fresh grease comes off far more easily than old. Over months, the heat hardens it into a stubborn coating, which makes a later clean slower and harder. Equipment tucked in a roof space or outbuilding near Ash rarely gets looked at unless someone books it.

What you pay depends on the size of the system, what state it’s in and access to every part of it. We give you a fixed price before any work starts, so there are no surprises.

Why us?

  • Fixed quotes, normally within one working day
  • Fully insured

Ash kitchens: local notes

The Food Standards Agency lists about 3 pubs, bars and clubs as registered food businesses within roughly a mile and a half of the centre of Ash. Where they serve hot food, their kitchen extracts need cleaning to TR19® like any restaurant’s. Food hygiene inspections in Ash are the job of Sevenoaks council’s environmental health team. The cleanliness of the kitchen and its equipment, extraction included, is part of what they check. A TR19® certificate and photo report after each clean gives you a record to show an inspector. The fire and rescue service for Ash is Kent Fire and Rescue Service. Its fire safety officers can audit commercial kitchens, and grease in the extract is part of a kitchen’s fire risk.

For schools such as New Ash Green Primary School, kitchen extract cleaning is typically booked for the holidays, when the canteen is closed. Kitchens that cook twelve hours or more a day, as some healthcare kitchens do, fall into BESA’s three-monthly minimum; Darent Valley Hospital is the nearest hospital to Ash, about 5.6 miles north. Older buildings often hide long, awkward duct runs, and if you run a kitchen at a historic venue in the area (Lullingstone Castle is about 4.2 miles west), access may need planning.

Ash is about 6 miles south-west of Northfleet, in Kent. Wherever you are in the TN15 postcode area, we cover canopy cleaning for commercial sites. Our area takes in 922 places across Kent, large and small. You can also see our page for Maidstone, about 12 miles away.

All of TN15 and DA3 is within our area for canopy cleaning, from busy streets to back roads. Local streets include Ash Road, The Street and Billet Hill, all of which we cover for canopy cleaning. Nearby, we also carry out canopy cleaning in West Yoke (1 mile north), Fawkham Green (1 mile north-west), Speed Gate (1 mile north-west), Stansted (2 miles south) and West Kingsdown (2 miles south-west). We also work in nearby towns such as Maidstone (12 miles south-east), Dartford (7 miles north-west), Sevenoaks (7 miles south-west), Royal Tunbridge Wells (15 miles south), Gravesend (6 miles north-east) and Tonbridge (11 miles south).

How we price canopy cleaning

Sites vary more than people expect. What affects the quote:

  • Parking and loading at the site
  • Site rules, permits and inductions
  • Whether several sites go on one quote
  • When the work can happen, such as evenings, overnight or weekends

No two sites are the same, so each one gets its own fixed quote. Size, access, the condition of the system and when we can work all play a part.

Asking for a quote

Photos let us diagnose from a distance. The most useful are:

  • Where the site is and what kind of site it is
  • Any previous report or certificate
  • How we’d reach plant on a roof or in a plant room
  • Anything you’ve noticed, such as smells, noise, drips or poor airflow

Photos are the quickest way to a quote: wide shots of the system, close-ups of anything that worries you and how we’d get to it. Tell us what kind of site it is and when it’s open, and many jobs can be priced from that alone.

Honest limits

Not every problem is solved by canopy cleaning, and we will tell you before any work starts. It doesn’t solve:

  • A hood that does not cover the cooking line
  • A light fitting that doesn’t work
  • A fan that can’t pull enough air because it’s worn out

Not sure which it is? You can call 0345 646 2711 or email us and we will tell you honestly.

Parts of the system we cover

  • Canopy light fittings
  • Baffle filters
  • Grease gutters
  • Wall canopies
  • Plenum chambers
  • Island canopies

What happens on the day

The first job on site is protection: sheeting goes over floors and surfaces close to the work. Then we make the system safe and start. The work on site takes part of a shift for most kitchens, more where there are several canopies or heavy deposits, and we clear up before we go. For a village or hamlet like Ash, tell us about narrow lanes, gates and parking when you book.

  1. We start by checking the canopy, filters and plenum.
  2. The range is turned off and allowed to cool before we cover it.
  3. With the filters out, the plenum and housing are cleaned back.
  4. Inside and out, the canopy and its grease channels are degreased.
  5. Filters go back, the area is cleaned down and pictures are taken.

Before we arrive

  • Name a contact who can let us in at the agreed time
  • Mention any sign-in, permit or induction we need
  • Let us know how we reach the system, including roofs, risers and plant rooms

Ask for a quote

Some systems can be priced from photos; others need a survey. Big or complicated sites, and systems that are hard to see in pictures, get a survey first. Either way, the quote is fixed before any work is booked.

Managing agents and facilities teams in Ash

For anyone managing more than one site, we can plan visits across the whole estate and price them together. Each site gets its own report and pictures, so each one has its own record.

We work for landlords, managing agents and facilities managers as well as the people running the site. Where a system serves more than one tenant, such as a shared riser, it helps to agree who arranges the work, and we’re happy to quote for all of it.

FAQs for Ash

Which environmental health team covers Ash?

That is Sevenoaks council, whose environmental health officers carry out food hygiene inspections in Ash. Ratings are published by the Food Standards Agency, so a clean extract and good records are worth keeping up.

Which fire service covers Ash?

Ash is in the area of Kent Fire and Rescue Service. If a fire safety officer visits a commercial kitchen, they may ask about the fire risk assessment and how the extract is kept clean.

Does the law say we must follow TR19?

No. The law sets the duty, and TR19® is the recognised benchmark for meeting it. Under the Fire Safety Order 2005, the responsible person must reduce fire risk, and many insurers can refuse or reduce a claim without proof of cleaning.

Do you offer emergency callouts?

Yes. For anything urgent, such as a fan failure or damage after a fire, ring the 24/7 line and we’ll talk you through the next steps.

Is canopy cleaning enough for TR19?

A canopy-only clean is possible, but it is not a full TR19 clean. For TR19, the whole system needs cleaning, at intervals set by BESA guidance.

Which canopies and hoods do you clean?

Canopies in pubs, restaurants, hotels, schools, care homes, offices and other kitchens. The routine stays the same whatever the kitchen, with the equipment off and cool.

Which kinds of sites do you work on?

Any site with a kitchen or a ventilation system to look after, from a single café to a large school. Hotels, schools, care homes, offices, shops and leisure sites are all part of our work.

Do you work in Ash?

Yes. We work in Ash and the rest of Kent, within our South East and London area. For a fixed quote, call us on 0345 646 2711, or email photos.

Staff cleaning versus specialist work

Keep a record of what your team does. A dated log of in-house cleaning and checks shows an inspector that the system is looked after between visits, alongside our reports.

Some jobs should never be done in-house: opening up ductwork, cleaning fans, drop testing fire dampers and measuring grease call for the right kit, training and safe access. Leave those to us.

Part by part

Island canopies

The underside of an island canopy is in full view, so the finish matters. We degrease it thoroughly and photograph the result.

School and staff canteen kitchens

School and canteen kitchens often cook to set hours, which makes a canopy clean easy to schedule. We often clean them in holidays or at weekends.
