AHU cleaning in Tetsworth

AHU cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Tetsworth

An AHU clean is a thorough examination and treatment of the unit. We look inside each section, clean what we find and record it with pictures, so the report shows exactly what was done. The work covers heating and cooling coils, supply and extract fans and drain trays, and people most often call us about dirty coils holding back the airflow and leaves and litter drawn into the unit.

Rural buildings with mechanical ventilation, such as care homes and country hotels, often keep their units in roof spaces or outbuildings, which makes them easy to overlook.

Think of the report as the system’s health record: a dated account with photos of everything we did. Grease extract cleans are also certificated to TR19® Grease through the BESCA VHE portal and sits alongside the report.

What affects the quote in Tetsworth

The price is fixed before any work begins. It takes into account:

  • Site requirements such as sign-in and permits
  • Working hours and out-of-hours timing
  • Where the site is and how we reach it
  • The condition of the system

Working hours, access and the scale of the site can all change the price. We take each of them into account and give you a fixed price before we start.

Asking for a quote

What to send for a quote:

  • When the site is open and when it’s quiet
  • Where the site is and what kind of site it is
  • Any previous report or certificate
  • A few general shots of the system

Here’s what helps us quote: the address, the type of site and when it’s open, pictures of the system and the last certificate or report, if there is one. Once you have those, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form.

Landlords, agents and facilities managers

Whether it’s one building or many, the standard is the same: diagnosis, a fixed price, work booked around your hours and a written report with pictures.

Multi-site operators often want one contractor and one number. We cover South East England and London, so visits at different addresses can be planned together and kept to a regular schedule.

What a clean won’t put right

We won’t sell you work that doesn’t address the problem, so here are the limits:

  • Building management system faults
  • Dirty ducts beyond the unit itself
  • A system that is undersized for the building

If in doubt, call us on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form and we will say what we think before you book.

What we work on in Tetsworth

  • Dampers and louvres
  • Heating and cooling coils
  • Filter sections
  • Drain trays
  • Internal panels
  • Supply and extract fans

Keeping the system healthy

How long the results last depends on use and care. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Note any water around the unit or leaks below it
  • Keep the area around the fresh air intake clear
  • Look at the condensate drain whenever the unit is serviced
  • Flag stale or damp smells in the supply air

Photos in the report cover the filters, coils, drain tray, fan and casing, along with anything we couldn’t reach. Any defects we noticed, like a leaking tray or damaged lining, are listed.

Regular filter changes are the best protection an AHU has. Overloaded filters let more dirt through to the coils and fan.

What staff can safely do

A few tasks are always specialist work: entering ducts, working on fans, testing dampers and taking grease readings call for the right kit, training and safe access. Leave those to us.

If your staff spot something between visits, such as dripping grease, a noisy fan, a smell or a filter that will not come clean, they should report it rather than try to fix it. We’ll take a look and send you a fixed quote.

Tetsworth: your questions answered

Do you clean school ventilation in Tetsworth in the holidays?

Yes, and it’s the easiest time to do it. Around Tetsworth, the Food Standards Agency lists about 2 schools and colleges with registered kitchens within a mile and a half or so. Just ring 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form with your term dates and we’ll plan around them.

Do you work at weekends in Tetsworth?

Yes, we can come after you close and finish before you open. The work in Tetsworth can fit around your hours. Just ring 0345 646 2711 or send us an email with your opening times and we will plan around them.

What should I send you?

Just the basics: where it is, what kind of site, when it’s open and the access. Photos and the last report help too. After that, simply give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line.

How often do AHUs need cleaning?

That’s set by inspection, in line with TR19® Air. A hard-working unit, or one serving a hospital or care home, may need cleaning more often.

How do you keep the site clean during the work?

With sheeting and covers, before anything else happens. The work is kept contained and leave the area clean.

Do you look at the system first?

Yes. Every job is surveyed first, from your photos and details, or with a visit where necessary. Then you get a fixed quote.

Are you insured?

Yes, fully. CHAS and SafeContractor accreditation sit alongside it, for sites that check contractor safety.

Can you look after several sites?

Yes. Tell us the addresses and what each needs and we will quote them together.

What happens if it’s left?

Dirt left in an air handling unit does not stay in the unit. It’s carried through the ductwork and out of the grilles, so cleaning the ducts without the unit only goes so far. Systems in rural buildings are often out of sight and out of mind.

Leaving it longer rarely makes the work cheaper. Build-up, wear and faults tend to get worse, not better, which can make the next visit longer. If you are not sure what’s needed, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email and we will give you an honest view and a fixed quote.

What we do, step by step

Protection comes first: floors, worktops and anything near the work are covered. After that, the system is made safe and the work begins. The work on site takes one overnight shift for many single units, with bigger plant phased, and the area is cleaned down before we leave. We agree a date with you, plan the drive to Tetsworth and turn up when the site is quiet.

  1. We start with a survey of the unit and a fixed quote for the work.
  2. With your site team, the unit is switched off and isolated, then the area around it protected.
  3. We clean or change the filters as agreed, then clean the coils, fan and internal panels.
  4. Standing water and slime come out of the tray and the drain is checked.
  5. We close up the unit and send the certificate and before and after photos.

How to prepare

  • Let us know how we reach the system, including roofs, risers and plant rooms
  • Name a contact who can let us in at the agreed time
  • Make sure equipment near the work can be switched off and left to cool

How to get a quote

The quickest way to a quote is to send photos: wide shots of the system, close-ups of anything that worries you and how we’d get to it. Tell us what kind of site it is and when it’s open, and we can price many jobs without a visit.
