AHU cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Temple Valley
Coils are where a lot of the dirt ends up. Dirt on the fins holds back air and makes the unit work harder to do the same job. We clean coils with methods suited to their condition, taking care not to damage the fins. Common call-outs are for dirty filters cutting the airflow and odours coming through the supply air, on dampers and louvres, drain trays and supply and extract fans.
Somewhere as small as Temple Valley, ducted ventilation is normally limited to a school, a care home, a surgery or a converted business building, wherever there is one, but those that do need it inspected and cleaned like any other.
Nothing is signed off by word of mouth: a dated report with photos of the work, and for TR19® Grease cleans, a certificate issued through the BESCA VHE portal. Any parts we couldn’t reach are recorded on it too.

For landlords and multi-site operators
We regularly work with managing agents. Send the address, what’s needed and how access works, and we’ll send a fixed quote.
Where a tenant occupies the premises but the landlord owns the building, it’s worth checking the lease for who maintains the systems. We’re happy to deal with either side, and the report can go to both.
What affects the cost of AHU cleaning
Every site gets its own quote. This is what makes a difference:
- How easy every part is to reach
- What state the system is in
- Whether it’s a one-off visit or part of a schedule
- Travel, parking and unloading
A single site or a whole portfolio, the quote is built the same way: the work involved, the access and the timing. The price is fixed before we start.
What we need to know
Photos let us diagnose from a distance. Try to include:
- Detail shots of panels, filters and grilles
- The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it
- The site address and the type of premises
- Your opening hours and when the area is out of use
Every quote begins with a look at the system, either from pictures and details you send or from a site visit. After that, you get a fixed price for the work so you know the cost before we start.

In-house cleaning or a specialist?
Your own staff can handle the daily basics: wiping down canopy surfaces, cleaning filters and keeping a simple log. What they cannot safely do is clean inside the ductwork, the fan or the risers, which is where we come in.
If your staff spot something between visits, like drips, unusual noise, smells or damaged filters, they should report it rather than try to fix it. We can diagnose it and quote.
Leave it or put it right?
A slimy drain tray only gets worse. Leave it and you risk overflows, leaks into the space below and odours carried round the building. Dealing with it early keeps the clean straightforward. Out of sight is the usual reason a rural system goes too long without attention.
No two sites are the same, so we price each one individually. Size, access, the condition of the system and when we can work all make a difference.

Temple Valley: your questions answered
Can you work in Temple Valley outside opening hours?
Yes, nights and weekends are routine for us. The work in Temple Valley can fit around your hours. Let us know the hours you’re closed and we will book within them.
Will you come out to Temple Valley?
Yes. Temple Valley is within the area we cover across London and the South East. Photos of the system and directions to the site help us plan the visit.
What’s TR19?
BESA’s ventilation hygiene specification in two main parts: TR19® Grease for kitchen extract systems and TR19® Air for general ventilation. It is not legislation, but it’s the standard people check against.
Which accreditations do you hold?
Duct Doctor is a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 are in place too, and we’re fully insured.
Do you give a certificate after the clean?
Yes. You get a TR19® certificate plus before and after pictures. Keep them in the maintenance log.
Do you offer maintenance contracts?
Yes. Send details of the systems and how they’re used, and we will suggest a schedule and quote for it.
How often should an air handling unit be cleaned?
There’s no single answer; it comes down to the building and the unit. Inspection tells you when cleaning is needed, and the report recommends a next date.
Will the ventilation be off while you clean?
Yes. We can’t clean a running unit, so it’s switched off and made safe first. The shutdown is planned with whoever runs the building.
How it works
On the day, we arrive at the time agreed with you, often in the evening, overnight or at the weekend so the site keeps working. Equipment that has to be off is switched off and allowed to cool before work begins, and floors and nearby surfaces are sheeted. The work itself takes one overnight shift for many single units, with bigger plant phased. Pictures of the system and its access let us plan the work in Temple Valley before we set off.
- We start with a survey of the unit and a fixed quote for the work.
- The unit is shut down with your site team and the area protected.
- We clean or change the filters as agreed, then clean the coils, fan and internal panels.
- Standing water and slime come out of the tray and the drain is checked.
- A TR19® certificate and photo report follow the clean.
Getting ready for the visit

- Plan for cooking equipment or plant to be off before we arrive

Getting a quote
There’s no standard price list, because every site is different. We look at your system first, from photos or on a visit, and then send you a fixed quote. To start, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email.
Advice
Honest limits
To be straight with you, there are a few things this work will not fix:
- Building management system faults
- Ductwork downstream of the unit, which is a separate clean
- Breakdowns that need a mechanical engineer
If you’re not sure, just call 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we’ll give you a straight answer.
What we work on in Temple Valley
- Drain trays
- Filter sections
- Dampers and louvres
- Supply and extract fans
- Heating and cooling coils
- Internal panels
Part by part
Filters
Dirty filters cut airflow and let dirt slip past their frames. The filter section is cleaned so new or cleaned filters sit properly.
Heating and cooling coils
Heating and cooling coils have tightly packed fins that trap fine dust. They’re cleaned using methods that won’t bend or flatten the fins.
