AHU cleaning across Lunsford

AHU cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Lunsford

Where a building in Lunsford has had little more than filter changes, the coils, fan and casing can be carrying far more dirt than anyone has seen. A full clean deals with all of it. The work covers drain trays, dampers and louvres and internal panels, and people most often call us about air handling units with blocked filters and units needing a clean before a new tenant or handover.

Around a place like Lunsford, ventilation systems tend to be in schools, surgeries, care homes and workplaces. Smaller systems still gather dust and need inspecting.

Duct Doctor has been trading since 2009, and we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 are in place too, and we carry full insurance.

What we do, step by step

We turn up at the time agreed with you, often in the evening, overnight or at the weekend so the site keeps working. Equipment that has to be off is switched off and allowed to cool first, and floors and nearby surfaces are sheeted. On site, it takes one overnight shift for many single units, with bigger plant phased. Because the survey comes first, a visit to Lunsford can usually be finished without a second trip.

  1. The survey covers the unit, its access and how it can be shut down.
  2. The area is protected and the unit made safe.
  3. Dirt and debris are removed from each section.
  4. We clean the coils and clear the tray and drain.
  5. We close every panel, hand the unit back and send the report and certificate.

Photos are enough for some jobs, while others need a look on site. Larger sites, and anything hidden behind walls, ceilings or floors, are normally surveyed first. Either way, you get a fixed price before we start.

Advice

AHU cleaning in Lunsford: local notes

Food Standards Agency data includes about 23 schools, colleges and universities and about 14 care, childcare and hospital premises across Lunsford and its immediate surroundings (about a mile and a half). Where buildings like these have air handling units, filters, coils and drain trays need regular attention. Lunsford, about 26 miles from central London, is within our usual area. We work evenings, overnight and at weekends, so the visit fits around the site. About 3.2 miles south-east of Lunsford is Maidstone Hospital, the nearest hospital. Hospitals show how much a building can rely on its ventilation, and smaller healthcare sites rely on theirs too.

If you run a surgery, dental practice or care home near Lunsford, clean ventilation matters as much to you as to a hospital like Maidstone Hospital (about 3.2 miles south-east). If you manage a school such as Lunsford Primary School, ventilation cleaning is best booked for the holidays.

How the job changes from site to site

Heating and cooling coils

Heating and cooling coils have tightly packed fins that trap fine dust. They’re cleaned using methods that will not bend or flatten the fins.

Drain trays

Standing water in a tray sits right where the air passes. We clean it and report anything about the tray or drain that needs fixing.

What staff can safely do

Day-to-day cleaning is something your team can do: wiping down canopy surfaces, cleaning filters and keeping a simple log. What they cannot safely do is clean inside the ductwork, the fan or the risers, which is where we come in.

Good housekeeping makes our visits easier, not unnecessary. Clean filters and tidy surfaces slow the build-up, but hidden parts of the system still need specialist attention.

Looking after it afterwards

Results last longer with the right care. We suggest:

  • Book the next check in line with the report
  • Watch for drips or damp patches near the plant
  • Keep the certificate and photo report with the plant records
  • Keep inspection doors on the unit in good order

If the ductwork hasn’t been cleaned, consider it next. A clean unit feeding dirty ducts only solves half the problem, and we can survey both.

Do not let leaves, litter or stored materials build up near the fresh air intake. Anything around the intake is likely to be drawn in.

Your questions about AHU cleaning in Lunsford

Is Lunsford within the area you cover?

Yes. Villages and rural sites across the South East are part of our work, Lunsford included. Photos of the system and directions to the site help us plan the visit.

Can ventilation in schools around Lunsford be cleaned out of term?

Yes. Half-terms and the summer break are the natural time for school work. There are about 23 schools, colleges and universities on the FSA’s food hygiene register within about 1.5 miles of Lunsford. Booking early in the term gives the best choice of holiday dates.

Can one contract cover all our sites?

Yes. One number covers all your sites across London and the South East, with visits on a regular schedule.

How much notice do you need?

Book as early as you can for planned work, especially if the next clean or test is due soon. For emergencies, we take calls 24/7.

How long does it take to clean an air handling unit?

As a guide, it takes half a day to a full day per unit, with large plant planned over several shifts. The shutdown is planned to fit, out of hours if needed.

What about areas you can’t get to?

We never leave them off the paperwork. You’ll know exactly which parts weren’t reached and why, and we can quote to improve the access.

Are you accredited?

We hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, alongside BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. Vent Hygiene Elite is run by BESCA and independently audited.

Which kinds of sites do you work on?

All kinds of commercial and public premises: from restaurants, pubs and hotels to schools, hospitals, care homes, offices, shops and food production sites. Work is timed around how each site runs.

Why deal with it now?

Dirty coils and fans make the unit strain to move the same air. That means more wear on the motor and rooms that feel less fresh, and a planned clean is far less disruptive than a breakdown. Around Lunsford, a kitchen or building out of action is missed straight away.

No two sites are the same, so we price each one individually. Size, access, the condition of the system and when we can work all make a difference.

Why us?

  • Fixed quotes from a survey or photos
  • CHAS and SafeContractor accredited, with ISO 9001
  • Member of BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease
  • Evenings, overnight and weekends, plus 24/7 emergency callout

Fixed quotes for AHU cleaning in Lunsford

We do not publish a price list, because no two systems are the same. The quote depends on:

  • How easy every part is to reach
  • Whether it’s a one-off visit or part of a schedule
  • What state the system is in
  • Whether several sites go on one quote

The price reflects the work, not guesswork. That’s why every job is surveyed first, and the price is agreed before work begins.

Asking for a quote

Photos and a few facts are often enough to price the work. Send what you can of the following:

  • Your opening hours and when the area is out of use
  • Problems your staff have spotted
  • Photos showing the whole system and its surroundings
  • Close-ups of filters, grilles, hatches or access panels

For AHU cleaning in Lunsford, ring 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form. Let us know the site type and the opening hours, and send photos or your last report if you can. A fixed quote normally follows within one working day.

Do you need AHU cleaning in Lunsford?

No filter stops everything. What gets through settles on coils, fans and the inside of the casing, building up layer by layer.

The symptoms we are asked about most include:

  • Dust built up on fan impellers
  • Odours coming through the supply air
  • Plant that needs cleaning after a refit
  • Air handling units never cleaned inside

If you manage shops or offices close to New Hythe station, a TR19® Air inspection shows whether the ductwork needs cleaning.

Comparing quotes

  • When the next visit should be, and why
  • Whether inaccessible sections are listed on the report
  • What paperwork you get at the end
  • If the quote is a fixed price or an estimate
