AHU cleaning for sites in Gubblecote

What staff can safely do

Keep a record of what your team does. A dated log of in-house cleaning and checks shows an inspector that the system is looked after between visits, alongside our reports.

For ventilation and air handling systems, in-house care is mostly about checks: clear grilles, a log of filter changes and reporting anything odd. Cleaning inside ducts and units is specialist work.

AHU cleaning in Gubblecote, done properly

Heating and cooling coils trap dust that gets past the filters. Dirt on the fins holds back air and makes the unit work harder to do the same job. Coils are cleaned carefully, with methods chosen so the fins are not flattened. We are often asked to deal with plant that has been serviced but not cleaned and rooms that smell stuffy when the system runs, on dampers and louvres, internal panels and filter sections.

Somewhere as small as Gubblecote, ducted ventilation is normally limited to a school, a care home, a surgery or a converted business building, wherever there is one, but those that do need it inspected and cleaned like any other.

Accreditations are easy to claim and worth checking. Ours are BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, plus CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured.

How the visit works

We are used to working while the site is closed. A lot of visits happen overnight or at weekends, so a kitchen or building can carry on as usual the next day. On site, the work takes half a day to a full day per unit, with large plant planned over several shifts. Pictures of the system and its access let us plan the work in Gubblecote before we set off.

  1. The survey covers the unit, its access and how it can be shut down.
  2. We sheet the area and the unit is isolated.
  3. Dirt and debris are removed from each section.
  4. Coils and trays are cleaned and the condensate drain cleared.
  5. We close every panel, hand the unit back and send the report and certificate.

Preparing for the visit

  • Make sure someone can let us in and lock up afterwards
  • Agree a time when the area can be out of use
  • Let us know about parking and loading

Different parts, different methods

Filters

What’s on the filters is a good clue to what’s further in. We photograph them for the report.

Rooftop and plant room units

Units on roofs and in plant rooms can be awkward to reach. We plan safe access as part of the survey so the quote reflects it.

When it’s something else

Before you book, it helps to know what’s not included:

  • Mechanical faults with motors, belts or bearings
  • A system that’s undersized for the building
  • The supply and extract ducts, quoted separately

Not sure which it is? You can ring 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form and we will tell you honestly before booking.

Your questions about AHU cleaning in Gubblecote

Is AHU cleaning available in Gubblecote?

Yes, Gubblecote is covered. To start, ring 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form with a few photos of the system.

Is Gubblecote within the area you cover?

Yes, we work in villages as well as towns, and Gubblecote is covered. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the site when you book.

How much notice do you need?

It depends on the time you need and how big the job is. Mention your preferred dates with your enquiry, and if it’s an emergency, call us any time.

Can you quote from pictures?

Yes, if we can see what we need. If not, a site survey comes first, and the quote follows that.

What if parts of the system can’t be reached?

Anything we cannot reach goes on the report, with photos where possible, and we explain what access is needed, for example new access panels.

What is TR19?

It’s the industry benchmark for cleaning ventilation and kitchen extract systems, written by BESA. It sets out inspection, cleaning and record keeping and expects a risk-based approach.

How much does AHU cleaning cost?

The cost depends on the size of the system, its condition, access and timing. Call for a fixed quote and we’ll normally reply within one working day.

Do you survey before quoting?

Yes, every time. Diagnosis comes before treatment: the survey shows what needs doing and what access we need and the fixed quote is built on it.

Keeping the system healthy

After the visit, a few habits help the work last:

  • Check the drain tray is emptying during routine visits
  • Clear leaves and litter away from the intake
  • Report stiff or damaged access doors
  • Change filters on schedule and log each change

Stick to the filter change schedule, as that does more than anything to keep the unit clean. Record each change in the maintenance log.

Regular inspection under TR19® Air shows when cleaning is due instead of leaving it to guesswork.

Multi-site and managed buildings

We regularly work with managing agents. Tell us the site, the work and the access arrangements, and we’ll send a fixed quote.

Facilities teams in offices, schools and healthcare sites book us too in Gubblecote and across Hertfordshire. Larger estates can be phased building by building around the people who use them.

If you manage a school such as Long Marston VA Church of England Primary School, ventilation cleaning is best booked for the holidays.

Why it’s worth doing now in Gubblecote

Leave an AHU uncleaned and the dirt does not stay put. It’s carried through the ductwork and out of the grilles, so cleaning the ducts without the unit only goes so far. If the system at a site near Gubblecote fails, there may be nowhere nearby to move to.

A single site or a whole portfolio, the quote is built the same way: what needs doing, how we get to it and when. The price is fixed before work begins.
