AHU cleaning in Gaskins

What staff can safely do

Your own staff can handle the daily basics: wiping canopies, washing grease filters and recording it in a log. Inside the ducts, risers and fan is specialist work, which is where we come in.

Keep a record of what your team does. A dated log of in-house cleaning and checks helps show that the system is managed between specialist visits, alongside our reports.

How we handle AHU cleaning in Gaskins

Our AHU cleaning covers sites in Gaskins and the rest of the Isle of Wight, in buildings such as offices, schools, healthcare sites and shops. Units are cleaned when the site can spare them, often evenings, overnight or weekends. If you have air handling units due a clean after building work and dirty coils holding back the airflow, we can put it right, from heating and cooling coils, internal panels and dampers and louvres onwards.

Somewhere as small as Gaskins, ducted ventilation is typically limited to a school, a care home, a surgery or a converted business building, wherever there is one, but those that do need it inspected and cleaned like any other.

Accreditations are easy to claim and worth checking. Ours are BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, plus CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured.

How it works

On the day, we arrive at the time agreed with you, often in the evening, overnight or at the weekend so the site keeps working. Equipment that has to be off is switched off and allowed to cool before work begins, and the area around the work is covered and protected. The work itself takes one overnight shift for many single units, with bigger plant phased. For a village or hamlet like Gaskins, tell us about narrow lanes, gates and parking when you book.

  1. The survey covers the unit, its access and how it can be shut down.
  2. The area is protected and the unit made safe.
  3. Dirt and debris are removed from each section.
  4. We clean the coils and clear the tray and drain.
  5. The unit is closed up and handed back, with a report to follow.

How to prepare

  • Tell us where we can park and unload
  • Arrange a key holder or contact on site
  • Make sure equipment near the work can be switched off and left to cool

Keeping the system healthy

Looking after the system between visits is straightforward, and it makes the next visit easier:

  • File each AHU report in the maintenance log
  • Keep inspection doors on the unit in good order
  • Plan the next inspection before the last report gets filed away
  • Flag stale or damp smells in the supply air

Restart the unit with your site team or maintenance contractor once we’ve finished. Keep an eye on the condensate drain over the next few days to confirm water is draining away.

Check drain trays and condensate drains during routine maintenance. A drain that’s cleared early never gets to the slime stage.

Common problems we fix in Gaskins

It matters for two reasons: the unit supplies the air people breathe, and a dirty unit has to work harder. For the people using the building every day, that’s the air they breathe for hours on end.

If you notice any of these, it’s worth a diagnosis:

  • Plant that has been serviced but not cleaned
  • Leaves and litter drawn into the unit
  • Fan sections that haven’t been cleaned in years
  • Condensate trays that will not empty

For schools like St Helens Primary School, the holidays are the usual time to inspect and clean ventilation.

  • Whether a written report and photos are included

Questions to ask before booking

Your questions about AHU cleaning in Gaskins

Will you come out to Gaskins?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Photos of the system and directions to the site help us plan the visit.

Can you clean school ventilation in Gaskins during the holidays?

Yes, out-of-term visits are normal for schools. With about 3 schools and colleges on the FSA’s register within roughly a mile and a half of Gaskins, it pays to plan holiday dates ahead. Tell us your holiday dates and we will book the visit for when the site is empty.

Are you accredited?

CHAS, SafeContractor, ISO 9001 and BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We are fully insured and have been trading since 2009.

What’s included in an AHU clean?

We clean the filter section, heating and cooling coils, drain trays, fan and internal casing. Filters are cleaned or changed as agreed in the quote.

What do you need from me for a quote?

A short description and a few pictures, with the address and opening hours. If we need more, we’ll ask.

Is there a report after cleaning?

Yes. Every clean comes with a TR19® certificate and a photo report. They’re worth keeping with the plant records.

Which sectors do you work in?

We work for restaurants, pubs, hotels, schools, colleges, hospitals, care homes, offices and shops, plus food production and leisure sites.

Can one contract cover all our sites?

Yes. We work across South East England and London, so we can schedule a run of sites on one programme. Every site has its own report.

For landlords and multi-site operators

Where a tenant occupies the premises but the landlord owns the building, the lease normally sets out who maintains what. We’re happy to deal with either side, and the report can go to both.

Whether it’s one building or many, the standard is the same: a survey first, a fixed quote, the work timed around the site and a report with photos.

AHU cleaning in Gaskins: local notes

There are about 3 schools, colleges and universities on the FSA’s food hygiene register within roughly a mile and a half of the centre of Gaskins. Different parts, different methods

Rooftop and plant room units

Smaller units in ceiling voids are part of the work as well. We protect the area below before opening them.

Heating and cooling coils

Coil fins are close together and catch the dust the filters miss. They’re cleaned using methods that won’t bend or flatten the fins.

How we price AHU cleaning

Your quote is based on your site. We take into account:

  • When the work can happen, such as evenings, overnight or weekends
  • Site rules, permits and inductions
  • How big the system is
  • The number of sites or systems

Kitchens, offices, schools and hospitals are all priced the same way: the size of the job, access, condition and working hours. Call for a fixed quote and we will explain each part.

Helping us quote

To help us quote quickly, please include:

  • Where the site is and what kind of site it is
  • The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it
  • Wide photos of the system and the area around it
  • When the site is open and when it’s quiet

Every quote begins with a look at the system, from your pictures and details or, where that is not enough, a survey on site. Then we send a fixed price so you know the cost before any work starts.
