AHU cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Dunbridge
We clean the parts of the unit where dirt and moisture gather: filters, coils, drain trays, fans and the internal panels. Every clean comes with a TR19® certificate and before and after photos in a report. The work covers filter sections, heating and cooling coils and internal panels, and the jobs we see most are coils clogged with dust and debris and air handling units never cleaned inside.
In rural areas, ventilation units are often in roof voids or outbuildings, which makes them easy to overlook.
Duct Doctor has been trading since 2009, and we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we carry full insurance.

What affects the cost of AHU cleaning
Every site gets its own quote. This is what makes a difference:
- Access, including roofs, risers and ceiling voids
- One-off work versus a regular cycle
- The scale of the work
- Any permits to work or inductions
One small site or a whole estate, we price it on the same basis: what needs doing, how we get to it and when. The price is fixed before work begins.
What we need to know
Before you ask for a quote, gather:
- The site address and the type of premises
- When the site is open and when it’s quiet
- Any symptoms, from odd noises to smells or leaks
- Wide photos of the system and the area around it
To help us quote: where the site is, what it is and its opening hours, a few pictures and any previous report or certificate. Then phone us on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email.
Staff cleaning versus specialist work
Some jobs should never be done in-house: opening up ductwork, cleaning fans, drop testing fire dampers and measuring grease need training, the right equipment and safe access. That is our job.
In-house cleaning and specialist cleaning do different jobs. Wiping filters daily and washing them weekly keeps the visible parts in order, but grease that has passed the filters is out of reach. That part needs specialist access and equipment.
What the work involves, part by part
Drain trays
Standing water in a tray sits right where the air passes. We clean it and note if the slope or the drain needs attention.
Fans and fan sections
Every bit of air passes the fan, so a dirty fan sends dirt downstream. The impeller, its housing and the fan chamber are cleaned.
Common questions in Dunbridge
Do you offer AHU cleaning in Dunbridge?
Yes, Dunbridge is covered. You can give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form and tell us what needs doing.
Do you work in villages like Dunbridge?
Yes, Dunbridge is part of our area, however small the site. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the site when you book.
Are you fully insured?
Yes. Duct Doctor is fully insured, and the details are available on request.
What’s TR19?
It’s the industry benchmark for cleaning ventilation and kitchen extract systems, written by BESA. It covers how systems are inspected, cleaned and checked, and it takes a risk-based approach.
Are you accredited?
Duct Doctor is a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured.
What do you do to protect the area?
Protection goes down first: floor sheeting and covers over nearby surfaces and equipment. The area is left tidy, with our waste taken away.
Can we book visits on a schedule?
Yes. Regular plans can run on 3, 6 or 12-monthly cycles, depending on what the system needs.
How often should an air handling unit be cleaned?
That is set by inspection, in line with TR19® Air. A hard-working unit, or one serving a hospital or care home, may need cleaning more often.

For landlords and multi-site operators
We work for landlords, managing agents and facilities managers as well as the people running the site. Shared systems, like a riser serving several units, need a clear agreement on who books the work, and we are happy to quote for all of it.
If you look after several sites, we can schedule visits across all of them on one quote. Each site gets its own report and pictures, so records stay tidy.
Leave it or put it right?
Stuffy rooms and stale smells in a building in Dunbridge can sometimes be traced back to the AHU. A clean tackles the source instead of masking it. Equipment tucked in a roof space or outbuilding near Dunbridge rarely gets looked at unless someone books it.
We don’t list prices on the website, because the cost depends on the site in front of us. Call for a fixed quote, and we will explain what it covers.

How it works
Night work is normal for us. A lot of visits happen overnight or at weekends, so a kitchen or building can carry on as usual the next day. The visit itself takes half a day to a full day per unit, with large plant planned over several shifts. A few photos of the system help us make the most of a visit to a place like Dunbridge.
- We look at the unit and the plant area during the survey.
- We sheet the area and the unit is isolated.
- Each section is cleaned of dust, debris and slime.
- We clean the coils and clear the tray and drain.
- The unit is closed up and handed back, with a report to follow.
Getting ready for the visit
- Clear loose items from the work area
- Mention any locked doors, roof access or ceiling voids
- Agree a time when the area can be out of use
