AHU cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Ducklington

The fan pushes every bit of air in the system, so dust on its blades and housing ends up in the airstream. We clean the fan section along with the rest of the unit, once the unit has been shut down and isolated. Common call-outs are for plant that needs cleaning after a refit and dust-coated heating and cooling coils, on dampers and louvres, supply and extract fans and heating and cooling coils.

Rural buildings with mechanical ventilation, such as care homes and country hotels, often keep their units in roof spaces or outbuildings, which makes them easy to overlook.

We’ve been trading since 2009, as a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are fully insured.

FAQs for Ducklington

Can a school’s ventilation in Ducklington be done out of term time?

Yes, and it’s the easiest time to do it. There are about 8 schools, colleges and universities on the FSA’s food hygiene register within about 1.5 miles of Ducklington. Tell us your holiday dates and we’ll book the visit for when the site is empty.

Do you cover smaller places like Ducklington?

Yes. Ducklington is within the area we cover across London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the site when you book.

Can you clean the AHU out of hours?

Yes. We work evenings, overnight and weekends, so offices, schools and shops can carry on.

How do you keep the site clean during the work?

We start with protection: sheeting over floors, worktops and anything close to the work. The area is left tidy, with our waste taken away.

What happens to the waste?

We take it away at the end of the visit. During the work, it’s contained so the area stays clean.

Can you fix a faulty AHU?

AHU cleaning is what we offer here, not mechanical repairs. Any faults we notice are recorded for your maintenance team to follow up.

What is TR19?

TR19® is BESA’s specification for ventilation hygiene. Since 2019, TR19® Grease has been a standalone specification for grease in kitchen extract systems, while TR19® Air covers other supply and extract ductwork.

Are you accredited?

Duct Doctor is a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 are in place too, and we carry full insurance.

Leave it or put it right?

Tenants, auditors and owners may want proof that the air handling plant is kept clean. A TR19® certificate and photo report give you that, ready to show anyone who asks. Planning a trip to Ducklington ahead is easier for everyone than a rushed one.

What you pay depends on the size of the system, what state it’s in and access to every part of it. We give you a fixed price before we start, so you know where you stand.

The process

At the end of the visit, someone from your team can look over the work with us. We point out anything that couldn’t be reached or needs a follow-up, and it goes on the report too. The visit takes a single shift for a typical unit, longer for large or heavily soiled ones. Pictures of the system and its access let us plan the work in Ducklington before we set off.

  1. First we agree when the unit can be switched off, including evenings or weekends.
  2. We take before pictures of each section of the unit.
  3. We work through the unit from the intake to the outlet.
  4. The fan and drain tray are cleaned and the drain checked.
  5. After photos are taken and the certificate issued.

How to prepare

  • Mention any parking or loading restrictions
  • Let us know how we reach the system, including roofs, risers and plant rooms
  • Allow time for equipment near the work to be turned off and cool down

Getting a quote

Photos are enough for some jobs, while others need a look on site. Big or complicated sites, and systems that are hard to see in photos, get a survey first. Either way, the quote is fixed before any work is booked.

Advice

Fixed quotes for AHU cleaning in Ducklington

We do not publish a price list, because sites vary so much. The quote depends on:

  • The condition of the system
  • Whether we need access equipment or extra panels
  • Parking and loading at the site
  • Whether several sites go on one quote

Putting the work off seldom saves money. Problems in a system tend to grow, and a neglected system can mean more work. If you are unsure, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we will give you an honest view and a fixed quote.

What to send for a quote

Photos let us diagnose from a distance. The most useful are:

  • The times we could work without disrupting the site
  • The roof, plant room or outside wall the system runs to
  • Any access panels or hatches you can see
  • Problems your staff have spotted

The quickest way to a quote is to send photos: wide shots of the system, close-ups of anything that worries you and how we’d get to it. Add the site type and your opening hours, and many jobs can be priced from that alone.

Different parts, different methods

Internal casing and panels

Loose or damaged linings inside a unit can break up into the airstream. Anything like that is recorded with pictures.

Drain trays

Drain trays can rust and leak over time. Their condition goes into the report with photos so repairs can be planned.

When it’s something else

AHU cleaning can’t fix everything, and we’d rather say so up front. It will not put right:

  • Damaged coils beyond cleaning
  • The supply and extract ducts, quoted separately
  • Airflow problems caused by the system’s design

If in doubt, phone us on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Parts of the system we cover

  • Supply and extract fans
  • Internal panels
  • Dampers and louvres
  • Filter sections
  • Drain trays
  • Heating and cooling coils

Keeping the system healthy

Aftercare is simple, and it makes the next visit easier:

  • Look at the condensate drain whenever the unit is serviced
  • Report water on the plant room floor
  • Flag stale or damp smells in the supply air
  • Plan the next inspection before the last report gets filed away

Keep filter changes on schedule between cleans, because good filters protect everything downstream. Log every change so it’s easy to see when the next is due.

Do not let leaves, litter or stored materials build up near the fresh air intake. Anything around the intake is likely to be drawn in.

What your team can do, and what needs us

Keep a record of what your team does. A simple log of filter washes, wipe-downs and checks helps show that the system is managed between specialist visits, next to our reports.

Good housekeeping makes our visits easier, not unnecessary. Regular in-house cleaning slows the build-up, but hidden parts of the system still need specialist attention.
