AHU cleaning in Bockhanger

What happens if it’s left?

Standing water in a drain tray does not clear itself. Left alone, it can overflow, leak into the plant area or ceiling below and spread smells through the system. Clearing it now is a much smaller job. When a site near Bockhanger shuts unexpectedly, the people who rely on it notice at once.

You won’t find a price list here, because the cost depends on the site in front of us. Call for a fixed quote, and we will explain what it covers.

How we handle AHU cleaning in Bockhanger

Our AHU cleans for sites in Bockhanger cover the parts that collect dirt: filters, coils, drain trays, fans and the internal panels. Every clean comes with a TR19® certificate and before and after photos in a report. The work covers filter sections, internal panels and drain trays, and common reasons people get in touch are debris and leaves in the fresh air intake and odours coming through the supply air.

Around a place like Bockhanger, ventilation systems tend to be in schools, surgeries, care homes and workplaces. Even a small system collects dust in its ducts and filters.

We’ve been trading since 2009, and we are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 are in place too, and we’re fully insured.

How the job changes from site to site

Filters

Filters are the first line of defence in the unit. We check them, and clean or change them as agreed in the quote, and clean the filter housing.

Internal casing and panels

Dust settles on every internal surface of the unit. We clean each section from intake to discharge.

How we price AHU cleaning

We do not publish a price list, because no two systems are the same. The quote depends on:

  • How easy every part is to reach
  • Any permits to work or inductions
  • How many systems or sites are involved
  • The condition we find in the survey

When the work has to happen, how we reach it and how big the site is all affect the cost. We take each of them into account, and the price is fixed before we start.

What we need to know

When you call or email, it’s useful to have:

  • How we’d reach plant on a roof or in a plant room
  • Anything you’ve noticed, such as smells, noise, drips or poor airflow
  • The site address and the type of premises
  • A few general shots of the system

For a fixed quote, call 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form and tell us the type of site, your opening hours and roughly what the system looks like. Photos and the last report, if you have one, make the quote quicker. We usually come back within one working day.

What happens on the day

Our technicians bring everything the work needs, including protection sheets, the right tools and access kit. All we need from you is clear access and the right equipment switched off. On site, the work takes anything from half a day for one small unit to several shifts for a plant room full of them. We plan the journey to Bockhanger and bring what the job is likely to need.

  1. We survey the unit from pictures or on site and agree what’s included.
  2. The unit is shut down with your site team and the area protected.
  3. We clean or change the filters as agreed, then clean the coils, fan and internal panels.
  4. Standing water and slime come out of the tray and the drain is checked.
  5. A TR19® certificate and photo report follow the clean.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Allow time for equipment near the work to be turned off and cool down
  • Mention any parking or loading restrictions
  • Let us know when the site is closed or quiet

Get a fixed quote

Photos are enough for some jobs, while others need a look on site. Big or complicated sites, and systems that are hard to see in pictures, get a survey first. Either way, the quote is fixed before any work is booked.

Common questions in Bockhanger

Do you work at weekends in Bockhanger?

Yes, nights and weekends are routine for us. The work in Bockhanger can fit around your hours. Tell us your opening hours when you ask for a quote.

Do you work in villages like Bockhanger?

Yes, we work in villages as well as towns, and Bockhanger is covered. The journey is planned ahead, so a few details about the route help.

Can we book visits on a schedule?

Yes. Regular plans can run on 3, 6 or 12-monthly cycles, depending on what the system needs.

How do you keep the site clean during the work?

By covering it before any work starts. The work is kept contained and leave the area clean.

What’s TR19?

TR19® is the BESA specification for keeping ventilation systems clean. Since 2019, TR19® Grease has been a standalone specification for grease in kitchen extract systems, and TR19® Air covers general supply and extract systems.

How far ahead should we book?

Earlier is better, particularly for night and weekend visits. We normally quote within one working day, and emergencies are covered by our 24/7 line.

What accreditations do you have?

Duct Doctor is a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured.

When should our AHU next be cleaned?

Under TR19® Air, cleaning is led by inspection and risk rather than a set calendar. We recommend a next date in each report.

What staff can safely do

In-house cleaning and specialist cleaning do different jobs. A daily filter wipe and a weekly filter wash keep grease down at the front of the system, but grease that has passed the filters is out of reach. Reaching it takes a specialist with the right equipment.

Away from the kitchen, the in-house job is mainly checking: keeping grilles clear, noting unusual noise or smells and logging filter changes. Cleaning inside ducts and units is specialist work.

Multi-site and managed buildings

Managing agents often deal with us directly. Send the address, what’s needed and how access works, and we will send a fixed quote.

Multi-site operators often want one contractor and one number. We cover South East England and London, so a run of sites can go into one programme and kept to a regular schedule.

Aftercare tips

A little care between visits keeps the system in better shape. Our advice:

  • Watch for drips or damp patches near the plant
  • File each AHU report in the maintenance log
  • Look at the condensate drain whenever the unit is serviced
  • Book the next check in line with the report

Keep filter changes on schedule between cleans, because good filters protect everything downstream. Log every change so it’s easy to see when the next is due.

Don’t let leaves, litter or stored materials build up near the fresh air intake. Anything around the intake is likely to be drawn in.
