AHU cleaning across Atherfield Green

AHU cleaning in Atherfield Green, done properly

We clean the parts of the unit where dirt and moisture gather: the filter section, heating and cooling coils, drain trays, fan and casing. Every clean comes with a TR19® certificate and before and after photos in a report. We’re often asked to deal with dirty coils holding back the airflow and air handling units never cleaned inside, across drain trays, dampers and louvres and supply and extract fans.

In rural areas, ventilation units are often in roof voids or outbuildings, which makes them easy to overlook.

Good records are part of the job. You get a written report with photos after every visit, listing what was done, anything we couldn’t reach and when the next visit is due. File it in your maintenance log so it’s to hand when an insurer or inspector asks.

Why it’s worth doing now in Atherfield Green

Facilities teams are often asked for evidence that the ventilation is looked after. Our certificate and photo report give you clear evidence, ready to show anyone who asks. It’s worth booking a check, because nobody sees inside a duct day to day.

The cost depends on the size of the system, what state it’s in and how easy it is to reach. You get a fixed price before work begins, so there are no surprises.

What happens on the day

There are three stages on the day: getting the area ready, doing the work and signing it off. Set-up means sheeting and making equipment safe, while signing off means the written report and photos. The middle part takes longest, which takes anything from half a day for one small unit to several shifts for a plant room full of them. Somewhere like Atherfield Green, lanes, gates and parking are worth mentioning in advance.

  1. We look at the unit and the plant area during the survey.
  2. We sheet the area and the unit is isolated.
  3. Each section is cleaned of dust, debris and slime.
  4. Coils and trays are cleaned and the condensate drain cleared.
  5. The unit is closed up and handed back, with a report to follow.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, plant rooms, ceilings or locked areas
  • Move anything stored near the system
  • Find the previous report, if there is one

Honest limits

It’s worth knowing the limits before booking:

  • Damaged coils beyond cleaning
  • A system that is undersized for the building
  • Dirty ducts beyond the unit itself

If you are not sure, just phone us on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Parts of the system we cover

  • Supply and extract fans
  • Drain trays
  • Dampers and louvres
  • Internal panels
  • Heating and cooling coils
  • Filter sections

In-house cleaning or a specialist?

Some jobs should never be done in-house: entering ducts, working on fans, testing dampers and taking grease readings need training, the right equipment and safe access. That’s our job.

Good housekeeping makes our visits easier, not unnecessary. Clean filters and tidy surfaces slow the build-up, but hidden parts of the system still need specialist attention.

Part by part

Drain trays

Older trays can corrode and start leaking. Their condition goes into the report with pictures so repairs can be planned.

Heating and cooling coils

Cooling coils stay damp in use, so dirt on them can turn sticky. The coil and its drain tray are cleaned as one job.

What affects the cost of AHU cleaning

We do not publish a price list, because no two systems are the same. What we look at:

  • What state the system is in
  • Whether we need access equipment or extra panels
  • Site requirements such as sign-in and permits
  • Whether several sites go on one quote

Several systems or sites on one quote often makes better use of the time. Tell us about everything you’d like looked at, and you’ll get one fixed quote.

Asking for a quote

We can often survey from pictures. Try to include:

  • The times we could work without disrupting the site
  • Any access panels or hatches you can see
  • The roof, plant room or outside wall the system runs to
  • The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it

The quickest way to a quote is to send pictures: wide shots of the system, close-ups of anything that worries you and how we’d get to it. Add the site type and your opening hours, and many jobs can be priced from that alone.

When to call us in Atherfield Green

An AHU’s intake draws in outdoor air and everything in it: dust, pollen, leaves and debris. Most of it lands at the intake and the first stage of filters, and the finer material travels on.

Any of these means the system needs a check-up:

  • Stale or musty smells from the ventilation
  • Air handling units with blocked filters
  • Leaves and litter drawn into the unit
  • Dirty coils holding back the airflow

Around Atherfield Green, as anywhere, ventilation cleaning begins with an inspection.

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether the quote is based on a survey or photos
  • Whether they’re fully insured
  • Proof of accreditation you can verify
  • Whether the whole system is included, or only the parts that are easy to reach
