Ventilation duct cleaning in Wymering, done properly

Supply ducts carry air into the rooms and extract ducts take it away. Dust and debris build up in both, and some of it is blown back into the building. Our cleaning covers the ducts, grilles and diffusers, to TR19® Air. We’re often asked to deal with dirty diffusers dropping dust into rooms and ductwork that hasn’t been inspected, across general extract ductwork, toilet extract systems and offices and schools.

Around a place like Wymering, ventilation systems tend to be in schools, surgeries, care homes and workplaces. Smaller systems still gather dust and need inspecting.

Our accreditations include CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured. On top of that, we are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we’ve been trading since 2009.

How the visit works

When we arrive, we check the system against the survey or the photos you sent. If anything is different, we talk it through with the person on site before carrying on. From there, it takes a shift or two for a small system, longer for a whole building. For a site near Wymering, the work is booked around your opening hours, evenings and weekends included.

  1. First the system is surveyed, on site or from pictures and drawings.
  2. Inspection comes next, with pictures of the inside of the ducts.
  3. The area below is protected and the system switched off.
  4. Debris is cleared from the duct runs, then grilles and diffusers are cleaned.
  5. A certificate and before and after pictures follow, with anything not reached recorded.

How to prepare

  • Let us know when the site is closed or quiet
  • Allow time for equipment near the work to be turned off and cool down
  • Mention any locked doors, roof access or ceiling voids

FAQs for Wymering

Can you get to a site in Wymering?

Yes. Wymering is within the area we cover across London and the South East. A survey first, from photos or a visit, means we arrive with the right kit.

Can you come to Wymering after we close?

Yes. We work evenings, overnight and at weekends. The site is handed back ready to open. Just give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line with your opening times and we will plan around them.

Is TR19 a legal requirement?

No, not in itself. TR19® is the benchmark insurers, fire officers and EHOs check against, and many insurance policies ask for proof of TR19® cleaning. The law behind it is the Fire Safety Order 2005, which applies in England and Wales.

Is there a survey before the work?

Yes. We always survey first, either from photos and details you send or on a site visit. A fixed quote follows.

Do you offer maintenance contracts?

Yes. Scheduled maintenance plans are part of what we do, set at the interval the system needs. The report from each visit recommends the next date.

How does TR19 Air differ from TR19 Grease?

TR19® Air deals with general ventilation, while TR19® Grease deals with kitchen extract. TR19® Air takes an inspection-led, risk-based approach.

How far ahead should we book?

The more notice, the better, especially for out-of-hours work. We normally quote within one working day, and emergencies are covered by our 24/7 line.

How often do ventilation ducts need cleaning?

Under TR19® Air, the answer comes from inspecting the ducts. Busy or sensitive buildings may need it more often.

When something else is needed

We’d rather tell you now than book work that won’t help, so these are the things it won’t cover:

  • Damaged ductwork beyond cleaning
  • A system that isn’t designed to move enough air
  • Kitchen extract ductwork, which needs a TR19® Grease clean

If in doubt, phone us on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email and we’ll say what we think.

Parts of the system we cover

  • Grilles and diffusers
  • Offices and schools
  • Supply ductwork
  • Toilet extract systems
  • Hospitals and care homes
  • General extract ductwork

Aftercare tips

To keep the system working properly between visits:

  • Wipe grilles and diffusers during routine cleaning
  • Keep the TR19 certificate and photo report in the maintenance log
  • Get leaks near ductwork fixed quickly
  • Book the next inspection on the date the report recommends

The report includes a recommended date for the next inspection, in line with the risk-based approach of TR19® Air. Put it in the diary now so it is not missed.

Deal with condensation and leaks near ducts promptly, as wet dust is much harder to clean.

What we are called out for in Wymering

Ventilation hygiene often gets left out of planned maintenance. Plant can be well serviced while the ductwork goes untouched for years.

Any of these means the system needs a check-up:

  • Damp or stale smells from grilles
  • Supply ducts with years of dust inside
  • Ventilation that needs a TR19® Air inspection
  • Ducts that need a clean before handover

For schools like Medina Primary School, the holidays are the usual time to inspect and clean ventilation.

What to look for in a quote

  • What insurance they carry
  • Exactly which parts of the system are covered
  • If they look at the system before pricing
  • How areas they cannot reach will be recorded

Managing agents and facilities teams in Wymering

Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the responsible person must assess and reduce fire risk, which may be the employer, owner, landlord, FM or managing agent. With shared responsibility, good records help everyone.

We also work for facilities teams across offices, schools and healthcare in Wymering and across Portsmouth. Larger estates can be phased building by building to keep disruption down.

Why deal with it now?

Dust streaks around grilles and stale rooms suggest the ducts need looking at. Acting early keeps the clean simpler. In a smaller place like Wymering, a site that has to close is felt quickly.

A single site or a whole portfolio, we price it on the same basis: what needs doing, how we get to it and when. The price is fixed before work begins.

Why book with us

  • Evenings, overnight and weekends, plus 24/7 emergency callout
  • Accredited under CHAS and SafeContractor, with ISO 9001
  • In business since 2009
  • A fixed price before any work starts

Classrooms, bedrooms and care spaces are often served by ducted air, and that ductwork collects dust over time. For Wymering, the closest hospital is Queen Alexandra Hospital, roughly less than half a mile north-east. How the job changes from site to site

Grilles and diffusers

Every duct ends at a grille or diffuser in the room. We clean them as part of the job, so dust on them isn’t blown back in.

Schools and colleges

We plan the work around the school calendar, with access agreed with the caretaker or site manager.
