How we handle ventilation duct cleaning in Weeke

We always start by inspecting. The ducts are opened at access points and the condition recorded, then recommend cleaning where it’s needed. That keeps the work in proportion to the risk. We are often asked to deal with ductwork never cleaned since it was installed and dirty diffusers dropping dust into rooms, on supply ductwork, toilet extract systems and grilles and diffusers.

Visits to a place like Weeke are fitted around opening hours. The work is the same as in any town: inspect, clean, record.

Duct Doctor has been trading since 2009, and we are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 are in place too, and we are fully insured.

Ventilation duct cleaning around Weeke

There are about 18 schools, colleges and universities, about 33 caring premises (care homes, nurseries and hospitals) and about 3 hotels and B&Bs on the FSA’s food hygiene register within roughly a mile and a half of the centre of Weeke. Many buildings of this kind have supply and extract ductwork that gathers dust and needs inspecting. For Weeke, the closest hospital is Royal Hampshire County Hospital, roughly 0.7 miles south. Healthcare buildings depend on clean supply and extract ventilation, and the same applies to surgeries, clinics and care homes.

If you manage shops or offices close to Winchester station, a TR19® Air inspection shows whether the ductwork needs cleaning. Hospitals such as Royal Hampshire County Hospital (about 0.7 miles south) show how much a building can rely on clean ventilation, and smaller healthcare sites near Weeke are no different. Classrooms and halls at schools such as Weeke Primary School are easiest to work in when pupils are away.

Weeke is about 1 mile north-west of Winchester, in Hampshire. Whether your site is in the middle of Weeke or further out, ventilation duct cleaning is available to all kinds of commercial premises, from a single unit to a large public building. If your site is just outside Weeke, we cover Harestock (1 mile north), Hyde (1 mile east), Abbotts Barton (1 mile east), Winchester (1 mile south-east) and Littleton (1 mile north-west). Larger places within reach include Eastleigh (7 miles south), Andover (12 miles north-west), Totton (13 miles south-west), Chandler's Ford (6 miles south), Hedge End (11 miles south) and Romsey (8 miles south-west).

Different parts, different methods

Schools and colleges

Classrooms full of people, paper and coats produce plenty of dust. Inspection shows when cleaning is due.

Grilles and diffusers

Grilles and diffusers are where the ducts meet the room. They’re cleaned along with the ductwork, so dust on them isn’t blown back in.

What a clean won’t put right

We’d rather tell you now than book work that won’t help, so these are the things it will not cover:

  • Damaged ductwork beyond cleaning
  • A system that is not designed to move enough air
  • Grease in kitchen extract systems, cleaned to TR19® Grease instead

If in doubt, call 0345 646 2711, or email photos and we will say what we think.

What affects the quote in Weeke

We quote each job individually. These are the things that affect it:

  • Site rules, permits and inductions
  • The scale of the work
  • Whether several sites go on one quote
  • When the work can happen, such as evenings, overnight or weekends

Working hours, access and the scale of the site all affect the cost. We take each of them into account and give you a fixed price before any work starts.

Helping us quote

Photos and a few facts are often enough to price the work. Useful things to send:

  • Photos showing the whole system and its surroundings
  • Your last certificate, test record or report
  • Any symptoms, from odd noises to smells or leaks
  • Your opening hours and when the area is out of use

To get a fixed quote, phone us on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email with the site type, your trading hours and a short description of the system. Photos and the last report, if you have one, make the quote quicker. You’ll typically have a quote within one working day.

The process

When we arrive, we check the system against the survey or the pictures you sent. If anything is different, we talk it through with the person on site before carrying on. After that, the work takes anything from a single shift for a small office to a planned programme of nights for a large building. Because the survey comes first, a visit to Weeke can normally be finished without a second trip.

  1. First we check the layout and any past paperwork.
  2. Inspection points are chosen and the ducts examined.
  3. We cover the area below and turn off the system.
  4. We clean the system and remove the debris from site.
  5. We report on the work, listing any inaccessible sections and the next inspection date.

How to prepare

  • Clear loose items from the work area
  • Let us know about permits to work or site inductions
  • Let us know how we reach the system, including roofs, risers and plant rooms

Ask for a quote

Quoting starts with a diagnosis, from your pictures and details or, where that is not enough, a survey on site. Then we send a fixed price so you know the cost before we start.

Advice

What staff can safely do

Day-to-day cleaning is something your team can do: wiping canopies, washing grease filters and recording it in a log. Inside the ducts, risers and fan is specialist work, which is where we come in.

In-house cleaning and specialist cleaning do different jobs. Wiping filters daily and washing them weekly keeps the visible parts in order, but grease that has passed the filters is out of reach. That part needs specialist access and equipment.

Questions from Weeke

Can ventilation in schools around Weeke be cleaned out of term?

Yes, out-of-term visits are normal for schools. There are about 18 schools, colleges and universities on the FSA’s food hygiene register within about 1.5 miles of Weeke. Tell us your holiday dates and we will book the visit for when the site is empty.

Can you come to Weeke after we close?

Yes, we can come after you close and finish before you open. That way a site in Weeke does not have to lose a day’s trading. Let us know the hours you’re closed and we will book within them.

Will you clean the vents in the rooms?

Yes, together with the ductwork. They show up in the photo report before and after.

How much time does a ventilation clean need?

Work on site takes a day or less for a small system and a series of visits for a large one. We will know more after the survey, and you can give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line to arrange it.

How much notice should we give?

Earlier is better, particularly for night and weekend visits. Quotes usually come back within one working day, and emergencies are covered by our 24/7 line.

What happens to the waste?

We contain it and take it with us. Grease, debris and waste water are collected as the work goes on rather than letting it spread.

Can you come out in an emergency?

Yes, day and night, every day of the year. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm, and the emergency line covers the rest.

Will we have paperwork to show the system was cleaned?

Yes. Every clean comes with a TR19® certificate and a photo report. BESA advises keeping certificates in the maintenance log.

Why act early in Weeke

Landlords, tenants and auditors may want proof the ventilation is looked after. A TR19® certificate and photo report from a recent clean give them that. Around Weeke, a kitchen or building out of action is missed straight away.

Whatever the type of site, the quote works the same way: the size of the job, access, condition and working hours. Ask for a fixed quote and we will explain each part.

For landlords and multi-site operators

Landlords, managing agents and facilities managers book us, not only the businesses that use the systems. Shared systems, like a riser serving several units, need a clear agreement on who books the work, and we’re happy to quote for all of it.

Multi-site operators often want one contractor and one number. We work across London and the South East, so a run of sites can go into one programme and kept on a regular cycle.
