Ventilation duct cleaning for sites in Tattenhoe

How we handle ventilation duct cleaning in Tattenhoe

Beyond the kitchen, TR19® Air covers the ordinary supply and extract systems that serve offices, schools and other buildings. It works by inspecting first and cleaning where the risk calls for it, so every job starts with a look inside the ducts. Common call-outs are for stuffy rooms and stale air and extract ducts clogged with lint and dust, across supply ductwork, toilet extract systems and hospitals and care homes.

In a smaller place like Tattenhoe, buildings with ducted ventilation are more likely to be a school, a surgery, a care home or a small business unit than an office block. Smaller systems still gather dust and need inspecting.

Accreditations are easy to claim and worth checking. Ours are BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, plus CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, with full insurance on top.

What a clean will not put right

Not every problem is solved by ventilation duct cleaning, and we will tell you before work begins. It will not put right:

  • Damp or mould problems coming from the building fabric
  • Damaged ductwork beyond cleaning
  • Kitchen extract ductwork, which needs a TR19® Grease clean

Not sure which it is? You can call us on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we’ll tell you honestly.

Parts of the system we cover

  • General extract ductwork
  • Offices and schools
  • Grilles and diffusers
  • Hospitals and care homes
  • Toilet extract systems
  • Supply ductwork

How it works

Protection comes first: floors, worktops and anything near the work are covered. Then we make the system safe and start. It takes a weekend for a modest system, with large buildings phased floor by floor, and we clear up before we go. In a smaller place like Tattenhoe, parking is rarely the issue, but tell us about gates, roof access and opening hours.

  1. We start by looking at the layout of the ductwork and how it can be reached.
  2. Inspection comes next, with photos of the inside of the ducts.
  3. Floors and furniture are covered and the ventilation turned off.
  4. Debris is cleared from the duct runs, then grilles and diffusers are cleaned.
  5. We issue a TR19® certificate and a photo report listing what was cleaned.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Name a contact who can let us in at the agreed time
  • Allow time for equipment near the work to be turned off and cool down
  • Agree a time when the area can be out of use

Getting a quote

Photos are the quickest way to a quote: the system from a couple of angles, plus any access panels or hatches. Tell us what kind of site it is and when it’s open, and we can price many jobs without a visit.

Advice

Multi-site and managed buildings

If you look after several sites, we can plan visits across the whole estate and price them together. Each site gets its own report and pictures, so records stay tidy.

Whether it’s one building or many, you get the same standard: a survey first, a fixed quote, the work timed around the site and a report with pictures.

In-house cleaning or a specialist?

Good housekeeping makes our visits easier, not unnecessary. Clean filters and tidy surfaces slow the build-up, but the parts you cannot see still need a specialist at the right interval.

If your staff spot something between visits, like drips, unusual noise, smells or damaged filters, it’s best reported rather than tackled in-house. We can diagnose it and quote.

Keeping the system healthy

To keep the system working properly between visits:

  • Store cleaning certificates where auditors can find them
  • Keep filters changed on time
  • Book the next inspection on the date the report recommends
  • Flag any dust coming out of the vents

What was cleaned is listed, along with any parts that weren’t accessible, backed up by before and after pictures. We’ll suggest where new access panels would help.

Protect the system during building work by turning it off or covering the openings.

When to call us in Tattenhoe

Damp ducts hold onto dirt. Where there’s condensation or a leak, dust clings and builds faster, and it becomes harder to remove.

Look out for any of the following:

  • Systems with no record of inspection or cleaning
  • Rooms that feel airless when the system runs
  • Ductwork with too few access panels to clean
  • Dirty diffusers dropping dust into rooms

If you run a surgery, dental practice or care home near Tattenhoe, clean ventilation matters as much to you as to a hospital like Bletchley Community Hospital (about 1.8 miles east).

What to look for in a quote

  • Which accreditations they hold, and whether you can check them
  • Whether a survey comes first
  • Whether the price is fixed
  • Proof of insurance

Common questions in Tattenhoe

Can you get to a site in Tattenhoe?

Yes, Tattenhoe is part of our area, however small the site. Photos of the system and directions to the site help us plan the visit.

Do you clean school ventilation in Tattenhoe in the holidays?

Yes. The holidays are the usual time for school work. With about 16 schools and colleges on the FSA’s register within roughly a mile and a half of Tattenhoe, it pays to plan holiday dates ahead. Tell us your holiday dates and we’ll book the visit for when the site is empty.

How long does ventilation cleaning take?

Expect it to take a shift or two for a small system, longer for a whole building. How much ductwork there is and how easily it’s reached decide the rest.

How do you protect the area?

Protection goes down first: sheeting over floors, worktops and anything close to the work. We tidy up and take our waste away before we leave.

Will you look at the ducts before quoting?

Yes. TR19® Air is inspection-led, so we look inside the ducts at set points, with pictures of the inside. We recommend cleaning where the inspection shows it’s due.

Can one contract cover all our sites?

Yes. Our area covers London and the South East, so sites at different addresses can be planned together as one programme. Every site has its own report.

Who is responsible for fire safety on the premises?

The law calls them the responsible person. It’s normally the employer, or whoever controls the building, and in shared buildings more than one person can have duties. If you are not sure, check your lease and fire risk assessment.

Can you clean without closing the building?

Yes. We work evenings, overnight and weekends, to keep the building open.

Part by part

Extract ductwork

A dirty extract duct makes its fan work harder. A clean duct takes the load off.

Hospitals and care homes

Hospitals and care homes are occupied day and night. The work is sequenced with staff to keep disruption down.
