How we handle ventilation duct cleaning in Puckaster

Every clean ends with a TR19® certificate and a photo report. The report lists what we cleaned, any sections not reached and a recommended next inspection, so you have it all on record. We’re often asked to deal with supply ducts with years of dust inside and duct runs that can’t be reached for cleaning, across hospitals and care homes, offices and schools and general extract ductwork.

Somewhere as small as Puckaster, ducted ventilation is normally limited to a school, a care home, a surgery or a converted business building, wherever there is one, but those that do need it inspected and cleaned like any other.

We are CHAS and SafeContractor accredited, we hold ISO 9001 and we’re fully insured. We are also a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we have been trading since 2009.

What staff can safely do

Staff cleaning and specialist work are not the same thing. Wiping filters daily and washing them weekly keeps the visible parts in order, but they do not reach the grease that builds up further in. Reaching it takes a specialist with the right equipment.

Your own staff can handle the daily basics: wiping down canopy surfaces, cleaning filters and keeping a simple log. What they can’t safely do is clean inside the ductwork, the fan or the risers, and that is where we come in.

The process

The visit has three parts: set-up, the treatment itself and the sign-off. Getting ready means protecting surfaces and switching off what needs to be off, and the sign-off is a written report with photos. Most of the time goes on the work itself, which takes a shift or two for a small system, longer for a whole building. Rural roads and tight entrances are worth telling us about before a visit to Puckaster.

  1. We agree timings that suit the building, including evenings and weekends.
  2. We open the ductwork through its access panels.
  3. We photograph the ducts, then clean each section in turn.
  4. We clean the grilles and diffusers and put them back.
  5. After pictures are taken and the certificate and report issued.

What ventilation duct cleaning looks like in Puckaster

Puckaster’s nearest hospital, Arthur Webster Memorial Hospital for Children, is about 5.9 miles north-east. Healthcare buildings depend on clean supply and extract ventilation, and the same applies to surgeries, clinics and care homes.

Classrooms and halls at schools such as Niton Primary School are easiest to work in when pupils are away.

Puckaster is about 6 miles south-west of Shanklin, in the Isle of Wight. Whether your site is in the middle of Puckaster or further out, ventilation duct cleaning is available to all kinds of commercial premises, from small sites to large estates. Our area takes in 125 places across the Isle of Wight, large and small. There’s also a page for Portsmouth, roughly 18 miles from Puckaster.

Ventilation duct cleaning in PO38 is surveyed, quoted and booked the same way as anywhere else. That includes premises on Puckaster Lane and Undercliff Drive and nearby roads. We also cover Niton (1 mile north), Blackgang (1 mile north-west), Bierley (1 mile north), Whitwell (2 miles north-east) and Nettlecombe (2 miles north-east). We also work in nearby towns such as Newport (8 miles north), Ryde (11 miles north-east), Cowes (12 miles north), Sandown (7 miles north-east), Shanklin (6 miles north-east) and Ventnor (3 miles east). If your site is somewhere remote, the visit takes a little more planning, so mention it when you ask for a quote.

Multi-site and managed buildings

For anyone managing more than one site, we can plan visits across the whole estate and price them together. Each site gets its own report and photos, so records stay tidy.

Facilities teams in offices, schools and healthcare sites book us too in Puckaster and across the Isle of Wight. Larger estates can be phased building by building to keep disruption down.

Do you need ventilation duct cleaning in Puckaster?

Ductwork is hidden above ceilings and in risers, so dust collects unseen. Grilles may be wiped, but the ducts behind them rarely are.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • Ductwork never cleaned since it was installed
  • Duct runs that can’t be reached for cleaning
  • Systems with no record of inspection or cleaning
  • Ventilation full of debris from building work

If you run a surgery, dental practice or care home near Puckaster, clean ventilation matters as much to you as to a hospital like Arthur Webster Memorial Hospital for Children (about 5.9 miles north-east).

FAQs for Puckaster

Can you work in Puckaster outside opening hours?

Yes, we can come after you close and finish before you open. The work in Puckaster can fit around your hours. Just call 0345 646 2711 or send us an email with your opening times and we’ll plan around them.

Will you come out to Puckaster?

Yes. Villages and rural sites across the South East are part of our work, Puckaster included. The journey is planned ahead, so a few details about the route help.

How often do ventilation ducts need cleaning?

There’s no single interval; under TR19® Air, inspection decides. Each report recommends when the system should next be inspected.

What does TR19 mean?

TR19® is BESA’s specification for ventilation hygiene. TR19® Grease, a standalone specification since 2019, covers grease in kitchen extract systems, and TR19® Air covers general supply and extract systems.

How do you protect the area?

Floors and surfaces near the work are sheeted before we start, and anything we remove is contained. Before we leave, we tidy up and clean down.

Do you provide a report?

Yes. Every clean comes with a TR19® certificate and a photo report. Keep them in the maintenance log.

Do you clean grilles and diffusers?

Yes. Where they can be removed, they’re taken down, cleaned and refitted. Fixed ones are cleaned in place.

Is there a survey before the work?

Yes. Every job is surveyed first, from your pictures and details, or with a visit where needed. A fixed quote follows.

Leave it or put it right?

After building work, cleaning the ventilation before people move back in makes sense. Otherwise the dust from the works comes out of the grilles once it’s switched back on. Systems in rural buildings are often out of sight and out of mind.

No two sites are the same, so each one gets its own fixed quote. The size of the job, how we reach it, its condition and the working hours all make a difference.

Keeping the system healthy

Here’s the after-treatment advice, short and simple:

  • Keep to the inspection interval in your report
  • Get leaks near ductwork fixed quickly
  • Do not run the ventilation while builders are sanding or cutting
  • Do not block grilles with furniture or storage

Pass the paperwork to your facilities or maintenance team, so it’s all in one place. Over time, it shows how quickly the system gets dirty.

TR19® Air works through regular inspection. Scheduled inspections spot dust before it becomes a major job.
