TR19 inspection in Wildridings

About our TR19 inspection in Wildridings

A fixed schedule does not always match how a kitchen really cooks. Some kitchens build up grease faster than the minimum intervals assume, and only measurement shows it. Our readings give your risk assessment real numbers to work from. If you have post-clean verification after another contractor’s clean and an insurer’s request for a TR19 audit, we can help.

Kitchens around a place like Wildridings are often in older buildings or single-storey extensions, where the duct may cross a roof void or climb an outside wall. Long horizontal runs like that hold grease and need access panels to reach.

Nothing is signed off by word of mouth: a written report, dated and illustrated with photos, plus a certificate through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal when the work is a TR19® Grease clean. Any parts we couldn’t reach are recorded on it too.

What the work involves, part by part

Extract fan and discharge

The extract fan and its housing collect grease too. We check and test them as part of the inspection.

Schools, hospitals and care homes

Inspections are planned around mealtimes and holidays so meals aren’t affected.

What your team can do, and what needs us

If your staff spot something between visits, such as dripping grease, a noisy fan, a smell or a filter that won’t come clean, it’s best reported rather than tackled in-house. We can diagnose it and quote.

Logging matters as much as cleaning. A simple log of filter washes, wipe-downs and checks helps show that the system is managed between specialist visits, next to our reports.

Landlords, agents and facilities managers

Multi-site operators often want one contractor and one number. We cover South East England and London, so visits at different addresses can be planned together and kept to a regular schedule.

The Fire Safety Order 2005 puts the duty to manage fire risk on the responsible person, which may be the employer, owner, landlord, FM or managing agent. With shared responsibility, good records help everyone.

What affects the cost of TR19 inspection

We do not publish a price list, because sites vary so much. The quote depends on:

  • Access, including roofs, risers and ceiling voids
  • A single visit or a regular plan
  • Where the site is and how we reach it
  • How big the system is

Leaving it longer rarely makes the work cheaper. Problems in a system tend to grow, and a neglected system can mean more work. If you are not sure what’s needed, phone us on 0345 646 2711 or email us for straight advice and a fixed quote.

What we need to know

Before you ask for a quote, gather:

  • Problems your staff have spotted
  • The postcode and the type of business
  • Any access panels or hatches you can see
  • The times we could work without disrupting the site

Some systems can be priced from pictures; others need a survey. Larger sites, and anything hidden behind walls, ceilings or floors, are normally surveyed first. Either way, you get a fixed price before work begins.

Signs you need TR19 inspection in Wildridings

Not every section of a kitchen extract is easy to get to, so those sections can be skipped time and again. A survey finds the sections that cannot be reached, so the gaps can be closed.

These are the problems we see most often:

  • Kitchens taken over with no cleaning records
  • Checking the result of a recent clean
  • Surveys needed before quoting a full clean
  • Sections of duct that cannot be reached

If you run a church or community hall kitchen, near St Michael and St Mary Magdalene's Church or elsewhere in Wildridings, its extract still collects grease from every lunch and event.

What your quote should include

  • Whether they recommend a next date
  • Whether a written report and pictures are included
  • Their accreditations, such as BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite, CHAS or SafeContractor
  • Whether VAT is included

FAQs for Wildridings

Is Wildridings within the area you cover?

Yes. Villages and rural sites across the South East are part of our work, Wildridings included. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

Can school kitchens in Wildridings be cleaned in the holidays?

Yes. Half-terms and the summer break are the natural time for school work. With about 13 schools and colleges on the FSA’s register within roughly a mile and a half of Wildridings, it pays to plan holiday dates ahead. Send us your term dates when you call us on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email, and we’ll fit the work in.

Which sectors do you work in?

Commercial premises of every kind: from restaurants, pubs and hotels to schools, hospitals, care homes, offices, shops and food production sites. We fit the work around how the site operates.

Can you price the work without visiting?

In many cases, yes. Photos of the system and the access, plus your opening hours and last report, are often enough. Larger or hidden systems need a survey on site first.

What if parts of the system cannot be reached?

They’re marked on the report. Often the fix is extra access, such as new panels in ductwork, which we can install.

How often should a kitchen extract be inspected?

That varies with the kitchen’s daily use. BESA sets minimum cleaning intervals of 3, 6 or 12 months by daily use, and grease readings help set the real interval.

What is grease thickness testing?

It’s a measurement of how much grease is coating the inside of the extract, using the Wet Film Thickness Test (WFTT) or Deposit Thickness Test (DTT). Each reading is recorded in microns.

Can the work be done while we are closed?

Yes. Give us your opening hours with your enquiry and we’ll book around them.

What we do, step by step

There’s very little for your team to do on the day. A contact on site lets us in at the agreed time and points us to the system, and we take it from there. Afterwards, the area is left tidy and the written report follows. A site near Wildridings typically has room to park, so the questions are about access to the system and your hours.

  1. We go through any past certificates and reports.
  2. We follow the extract from canopy to discharge.
  3. We note where access panels are and where more are needed.
  4. Grease readings are taken and photos recorded.
  5. You get a report and a fixed quote for the clean.

How to prepare

  • Move anything stored near the system
  • Let us know how we reach the system, including roofs, risers and plant rooms
  • Agree a time when the area can be out of use

Getting a quote

To help us quote: the address, the type of site and when it’s open, a few photos and the last certificate or report, if there is one. Once you have those, phone us on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email.
