How we handle TR19 inspection in Ringshall

Not every kitchen fits neatly into a calendar. In a busy kitchen, grease can build faster than the minimum intervals allow for, which is why measurement matters. Our readings give your risk assessment real numbers to work from. The work covers insurer audits, wet film thickness tests and access surveys, and people most often call us about heavy grease suspected in the plenum or ducts and kitchens whose menu or hours have changed.

For a kitchen in or near Ringshall, the visit is planned around opening hours and the journey, and the clean itself is the same full TR19® job as in any town: canopy, filters, duct, fan and discharge, with a certificate and photo report at the end.

For insurers and inspectors, the record counts. So every job comes with a written report and pictures, plus a TR19® certificate through the BESCA VHE portal where the work is a TR19® Grease clean.

Ringshall: your questions answered

Do you cover smaller places like Ringshall?

Yes, Ringshall is part of our area, however small the site. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the site when you book.

Do you do school kitchen extract cleaning in Ringshall in the summer holidays?

Yes, holiday work suits schools best. Around Ringshall, the Food Standards Agency lists about 2 schools and colleges with registered kitchens within a mile and a half or so. Send us your term dates when you give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line, and we’ll fit the work in.

What is TR19?

BESA’s ventilation hygiene specification, with two parts that matter most here: TR19® Grease for kitchen extracts and TR19® Air for supply and extract systems. It is not legislation, but it’s the standard people check against.

When should we have our next grease test?

Each report recommends when to test and clean next, based on the readings and how the kitchen is used. A risk assessment based on measured grease should set the interval.

Can one contract cover all our sites?

Yes. Tell us the addresses and what each needs and you will get one fixed quote.

What accreditations do you have?

Duct Doctor is a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are fully insured.

How much does TR19 inspection cost?

There’s no set price, as it depends on the job: how big it is, what state it’s in, how we reach it and the working hours. We fix the price before we start.

Is TR19 a legal requirement?

No, TR19® is not legislation. The Fire Safety Order 2005 still requires the responsible person to manage fire risk, which in a kitchen includes grease in the extract. Many insurance policies also require TR19 adherence.

What the work involves, part by part

Vertical risers

Access to risers is often limited. We record what can and can’t be reached.

Extract fan and discharge

The discharge at the end of the system is checked as well, as grease can build up there too.

Between visits

How long the results last depends on use and care. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Flag oily drips near the extract
  • Keep grease filters clean and fitted properly
  • Share inspection reports with your insurer or broker when asked
  • File every inspection report with your certificates

The report recommends when the system should next be cleaned and tested, from the measured grease and the kitchen’s hours.

Fit access panels where the survey finds sections can’t be reached, so every part of the duct can be cleaned.

What your team can do, and what needs us

Your own staff can handle the daily basics: wiping canopies, washing grease filters and recording it in a log. What they cannot safely do is clean inside the ductwork, the fan or the risers, which is where we come in.

Logging matters as much as cleaning. A dated log of in-house cleaning and checks shows an inspector that the system is looked after between visits, next to our reports.

How it works

We’re used to working while the site is closed. A lot of visits happen overnight or at weekends, so the site can open as normal afterwards. On site, the work takes around an hour or two per canopy and duct system. If the van will struggle with a lane or gateway near Ringshall, let us know and we’ll plan around it.

  1. We go through any past certificates and reports.
  2. We follow the extract from canopy to discharge.
  3. We note where access panels are and where more are needed.
  4. We measure the grease and photograph each point.
  5. You get a report and a fixed quote for the clean.

Preparing for the visit

  • Mention any sign-in, permit or induction we need
  • Arrange a key holder or contact on site
  • Let us know about parking and loading

Ask for a quote

To help us quote: the address, the type of site and when it’s open, a few pictures and the last certificate or report, if there is one. Then phone us on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form.

Advice

When to call us in Ringshall

Menus, opening hours and cooking styles change over time, and more frying or longer hours mean more grease. The old cleaning schedule may not match the kitchen any more.

It’s time to book a visit if you see:

  • An insurer’s request for a TR19 audit
  • Extracts that may be over the 200 micron mean
  • Checking the result of a recent clean
  • Missing access panels found on survey

For a kitchen near Ringshall, the paperwork matters as much as the clean, so you get a certificate and pictures every time.

Fixed quotes for TR19 inspection in Ringshall

Sites vary more than people expect. What affects the quote:

  • Access, including roofs, risers and ceiling voids
  • The times the site is available
  • One-off work versus a regular cycle
  • Where the site is and how we reach it

What you pay reflects the actual work. That is why we survey first, from photos or on site, and why the quote is fixed before any work starts.

What to send for a quote

What to send for a quote:

  • Any access panels or hatches you can see
  • The site address and the type of premises
  • Photos showing the whole system and its surroundings
  • Anything you’ve noticed, such as smells, noise, drips or poor airflow

Every quote begins with a look at the system, either from photos and details you send or from a site visit. After that, you get a fixed price for the work, before work begins.

Honest limits

TR19 inspection can’t fix everything, and we will tell you before work begins. It will not put right:

  • Mechanical faults in the extract
  • Removing the grease, which is a separate clean
  • Fire safety duties beyond the extract system

If you’re not sure, just call us on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email and we’ll give you a straight answer.
