TR19 inspection in Finmere

About our TR19 inspection in Finmere

Grease thickness testing tells you how much grease is sitting in the canopy, ducts and fan. Readings are taken at set points using the Wet Film Thickness Test (WFTT) or the Deposit Thickness Test (DTT). From the numbers, you can see whether cleaning is due. We’re often asked to deal with missing TR19 certificates or history and insurance renewals needing proof of TR19 cleaning, across access surveys, post-clean checks and pre-clean surveys.

Somewhere as small as Finmere, commercial kitchens are few: perhaps a pub, a school or care home kitchen, or a hall used for events. Each still has a canopy and duct that collect grease, whatever the size of the place.

Our accreditations include CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are fully insured. We are also a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we’ve been trading since 2009.

Between visits

So the system stays in good health:

  • Have the latest report ready for insurance renewals
  • Diary the next grease test and clean
  • Look out for grease drips round the canopy edge
  • File every inspection report with your certificates

Where sections couldn’t be reached, the report says where access panels would help. Fitting them before the next clean means the whole system gets done.

Keep certificates, reports and readings in one place so the history is easy to show.

Staff cleaning versus specialist work

Away from the kitchen, the in-house job is mainly checking: clear grilles, a log of filter changes and reporting anything odd. The inside of ducts and units needs a specialist.

Day-to-day cleaning is something your team can do: wiping down canopy surfaces, cleaning filters and keeping a simple log. What they can’t safely do is clean inside the ductwork, the fan or the risers, and that’s where we come in.

Why deal with it now?

Skipping grease testing leaves the cleaning interval to guesswork. If grease reaches 500 microns anywhere, TR19® Grease calls for immediate spot cleaning, and you can only act on that if you’ve measured it. Planning a trip to Finmere ahead is easier for everyone than a rushed one.

We do not list prices on the website, because each job is priced on what it involves. Call for a fixed quote, and we’ll talk you through it.

How the visit works

There’s very little for your team to do on the day. A contact on site lets us in at the agreed time and points us to the system, and we take it from there. Afterwards, the area is left tidy and the written report follows. For a village or hamlet like Finmere, tell us about narrow lanes, gates and parking when you book.

  1. We agree a time when the kitchen is closed or quiet.
  2. The system is checked from canopy to discharge.
  3. We take WFTT or DTT readings at set points along the system.
  4. Photos are taken at each point, and access gaps noted.
  5. You get a report with readings, pictures and recommendations.

How to prepare

  • Arrange a key holder or contact on site
  • Tell us where we can park and unload
  • Allow time for equipment near the work to be turned off and cool down

Get a fixed quote

The quickest way to a quote is to send photos: wide shots of the system, close-ups of anything that worries you and how we’d get to it. Add the site type and your opening hours, and we can price many jobs without a visit.

Finmere questions

Which council inspects kitchens in Finmere?

The local authority for Finmere is Buckinghamshire council, and its environmental health team does the inspecting. Have your latest TR19® certificate and photo report to hand, as an officer may ask how the extract is maintained.

Do you work at weekends in Finmere?

Yes, evening, overnight and weekend work is normal for us. That way a site in Finmere does not have to lose a day’s trading. Just phone us on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line with your opening times and we will plan around them.

Do you carry out TR19 audits for insurers?

Yes. Our TR19 audits cover readings, photos, access and a recommended cleaning interval. It’s set out for your insurer or broker.

Can one contract cover all our sites?

Yes. Our area covers London and the South East, so we can schedule a run of sites as one programme. Each site gets its own report and photos.

How do you keep the site clean during the work?

By covering it before any work starts. The work is kept contained and clean down when we finish.

Do you survey before quoting?

Yes. For many sites, pictures and a few details are enough, while bigger or harder-to-see systems are surveyed on site.

What does a pre-clean survey involve?

We check the layout, the grease levels and the access, before anyone starts cleaning. Missing access panels are noted so they can be sorted first.

How do you measure grease in a kitchen extract?

It’s a measurement of how much grease is coating the inside of the extract, using the Wet Film Thickness Test (WFTT) or Deposit Thickness Test (DTT). Each reading is recorded in microns.

When to call us in Finmere

Looking at a canopy tells you little about what’s in the duct. A system can look clean at the filters and be heavily coated further in, which is why readings matter.

These are the problems we see most often:

  • Insurers asking for TR19 evidence
  • Kitchen extract systems with no recent grease readings
  • Systems that need surveying before cleaning
  • Missing access panels found on survey

Older buildings often hide long, awkward duct runs, and if you run a kitchen at a historic venue in the area (Stowe House is about 3.7 miles north-east), access may need planning.

Before you book anyone

  • What’s included in the scope, part by part
  • What hours they’ll be on site
  • What records you will receive afterwards
  • How they set the interval to the next visit

For landlords and multi-site operators

From a single site to a large estate, the standard is the same: a survey first, a fixed quote, the work timed around the site and a report with pictures.

We also work for facilities teams across offices, schools and healthcare across Buckinghamshire. Larger estates can be phased building by building to keep disruption down.
