About kitchen extract cleaning in EN10

We’ve been trading since 2009, cleaning kitchen extracts across the South East and London. As a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, we clean to BESA TR19® Grease, and we’re fully insured, with CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001. Typical jobs include an extract that has never been cleaned to TR19 and a new tenancy or takeover with no cleaning history, on vertical risers, discharge points and canopies and hoods.

Each visit runs to the same pattern: sheeting and protection first, isolate whatever needs isolating, do the work, tidy up and hand over the paperwork. The visit itself takes a few hours for a small kitchen, longer for a large system.

  1. We start with a survey, so we know every part of the system before we quote.
  2. We measure the grease at set points along the system, then give you a fixed price.
  3. On the day, cooking equipment is switched off and left to cool, and everything nearby is sheeted.
  4. The whole route is cleaned, from the canopy through the ductwork to the fan and the discharge.
  5. We test again, photograph the result and issue your TR19 certificate and photo report.

Kitchen extract cleaning around EN10

Kitchens across EN10 cook for very different hours, from all-day town-centre sites to part-time hall and school kitchens. Grease readings and BESA’s minimum intervals set the schedule for each.

We work across London and the South East, and EN10 is part of that area. Every job is surveyed first and quoted at a fixed price, wherever it is in EN10.

Broxbourne: For schools such as Sheredes Primary School, kitchen extract cleaning is usually booked for the holidays, when the canteen is closed. Volunteers running a hall kitchen near Church of St Augustine, or anywhere in Broxbourne, may not know when the extract was last cleaned, and a grease test settles it.

Managing agents and facilities teams in EN10

From a single site to a large estate, you get the same standard: the system surveyed, the price fixed, the visit fitted around trading and everything written up afterwards.

We regularly work with managing agents. Tell us the site, the work and the access arrangements and we will come back with a fixed quote.

How we price kitchen extract cleaning

Before we fix a price, we need to know a few things. We look at:

  • Access, including roofs, risers and ceiling voids
  • Site requirements such as sign-in and permits
  • Whether several sites go on one quote
  • One-off work versus a regular cycle

Whatever the type of site, the quote works the same way: how much there is, how we reach it, what state it’s in and when we can work. Ask for a fixed quote and we will go through it with you.

What we need to know

What to send for a quote:

  • The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it
  • When the site is open and when it’s quiet
  • Close-ups of filters, grilles, hatches or access panels
  • A few general shots of the system

Quotes are quick. Send a few details and photos, and we typically reply with a fixed quote within one working day. If we need to see the system first, we book a survey around your hours.

Common problems we fix in EN10

In EN10, as anywhere, grease gathers where the air slows down: long horizontal runs, bends, the base of risers and around the fan. The cooler the duct, the more grease drops out of the air.

It’s time to book a visit if you see:

  • Stale cooking odours from the system
  • An extract that no longer clears the smoke
  • Missing paperwork after a change of operator
  • Heavy grease build-up inside the duct runs

In-house cleaning or a specialist?

For ventilation and air handling systems, in-house care is mostly about checks: keeping grilles clear, noting unusual noise or smells and logging filter changes. The inside of ducts and units needs a specialist.

In-house cleaning and specialist cleaning do different jobs. Wiping filters daily and washing them weekly keeps the visible parts in order, but they don’t reach the grease that builds up further in. Reaching it takes a specialist with the right equipment.

Different parts, different methods

Grease filters

A filter that’s missing or bent lets grease straight past. Each filter is checked as it goes back in, and flag any that do not.

Schools, hospitals and care homes

Some healthcare kitchens never fully close. We plan the clean around meal times and work in a contained, tidy way with as little disruption as possible.

FAQs for EN10

What does kitchen extract cleaning cost?

We do not publish prices, because the cost depends on the job: the size of the system, its condition, access and when we can work. We fix the price before any work starts.

Are you accredited for kitchen extract cleaning?

We’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured.

Do you clean the whole extract system or just the canopy?

Every part the air passes through, as far as access allows. Sections with no access are listed on the report, and extra panels can be fitted.

How much notice should we give?

That depends on the slot you want and the size of the job. Mention your preferred dates with your enquiry, and if it’s an emergency, call us any time.

Do you offer maintenance contracts?

Yes, of course. Send details of the systems and how they’re used and we will propose a schedule with a fixed quote.

How long will the clean take?

That depends on the size of the system, the amount of grease and the number of access points. Most jobs take as long as the system needs, from a few hours to several planned visits.

Do insurers need proof of extract cleaning?

Grease-filled ducts can carry fire well beyond the kitchen. Many insurers require TR19 cleaning, and may refuse or reduce a claim without proof, so keep every certificate.
