Kitchen extract cleaning in BH25: how it works
Insurers often want evidence of regular TR19 cleaning, and some may refuse or reduce a claim when it’s missing. The certificate and photo report from each clean in BH25 give you that record for the maintenance log. Common call-outs are for an extract that no longer clears the smoke and cleaning needed before an insurance renewal or survey, on vertical risers, extract fans and canopies and hoods.
We work around your opening hours, not the other way round. Most visits are booked for when the area is out of use, such as evenings, overnight, early mornings or weekends. Once we’re in, the area is sheeted and anything that has to be off is turned off and cooled, and the work takes a few hours for a small kitchen, longer for a large system.
- First the diagnosis: a survey of the whole system and its access points.
- Grease readings set the baseline, and a fixed quote follows.
- After the kitchen closes, we sheet the area and set up to contain grease and water.
- The treatment: heavy grease scraped out, then every part degreased to TR19® Grease.
- The sign-off: post-clean readings, a TR19 certificate and a photo report with the next clean date.
What you will pay
The cost depends on the size of the system, what state it’s in and access to every part of it. You get a fixed price before we start, so there are no surprises.

Kitchen extracts across BH25
Across BH25, from New Milton, Barton on Sea and Ashley outwards, kitchens range from town-centre restaurants and takeaways to pubs, hotels, schools and care homes. Every one gets the same full TR19® clean, from the canopy to the discharge.
In England, the Fire Safety Order puts the duty on the responsible person to assess and reduce fire risk, and a TR19® certificate and photo report give you a record of the work. Parts of BH25 are on or near the coast, where salt air is hard on rooftop fans, discharge cowls and fixings. Fans and cowls on sea-facing roofs are worth checking at every visit.
New Milton: If you run a café or takeaway near New Milton station, early starts and late finishes leave little time to clean, so overnight extract cleaning suits. Church and community hall kitchens, near Parish Church of St Magdalene or anywhere around New Milton, are easy to forget, but their extracts collect grease like any other.
What your team can do, and what needs us
Away from the kitchen, the in-house job is mainly checking: keeping grilles clear, noting unusual noise or smells and logging filter changes. Cleaning inside ducts and units is specialist work.
Day-to-day cleaning is something your team can do: wiping down canopy surfaces, cleaning filters and keeping a simple log. What they cannot safely do is clean inside the ductwork, the fan or the risers, and that’s where we come in.
Landlords, agents and facilities managers
Where a tenant occupies the premises but the landlord owns the building, the lease normally sets out who maintains what. We can quote either party and send the paperwork to whoever needs it.
Multi-site operators often want one contractor and one number. We work across London and the South East, so visits at different addresses can be planned together and kept on a regular cycle.
Part by part
Grease filters
Between TR19 cleans, filters still need regular cleaning and we offer a filter exchange service for that. Clean filters slow the build-up further down the system.
Canopy and plenum
Grease meets the system first at the canopy and the plenum behind the filters. We clean both inside and out, with the filter housing cleaned too.
When something else is needed
A few issues sit outside what this work can do:
- Extraction that cannot cope with the cooking because of its design
- Blocked drains from a neglected grease trap (a separate service)
- A fan motor that has burnt out
Signs you need kitchen extract cleaning
The reason for all this is fire. Flames from a pan or grill can be pulled into the canopy by the fan, and once grease in the duct catches, fire can spread through the building’s ductwork. That’s why controlling extract grease belongs in the fire risk assessment.
What we’re most often called out for:
- Cleaning needed before an insurance renewal or survey
- An extract that no longer clears the smoke
- Heavy grease build-up inside the duct runs
- Grease smells coming from the extract
Your questions about kitchen extract cleaning in BH25
How long will the clean take?
Length of duct, grease levels and access all affect it. Most jobs take a single shift for most kitchens, with long duct runs and tall risers needing more time.
How far ahead should we book?
It depends on the time you need and how big the job is. Mention your preferred dates with your enquiry, and if it’s an emergency, call us any time.
What does a TR19 kitchen extract clean include?
Every part the air passes through, as far as access allows. Where there aren’t enough access panels to reach a section, it’s recorded, and we can fit new ones.
How do you protect the area?
We cover floors and nearby surfaces with sheeting before any work starts, and anything we remove is contained. Before we leave, we tidy up and clean down.
Can you quote from photos?
Yes, if we can see what we need. Otherwise, we book a survey at a time that suits the site, and the quote follows that.
Are you a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member?
We clean to BESA TR19® Grease as a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, and certificates go through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal. We have been trading since 2009.
Is TR19 a legal requirement?
TR19® is BESA’s specification, not legislation. The law is the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, which makes the responsible person assess and reduce fire risk, and cleaning to TR19 is the recognised way to show you’ve dealt with extract grease.
