Kitchen extract cleaning across Pipsden

For landlords and multi-site operators

Facilities teams in offices, schools and healthcare sites book us too in Pipsden and across Kent. Work can be phased by floor, building or site to keep disruption down.

Multi-site operators often want one contractor and one number. We work across London and the South East, so visits at different addresses can be planned together and kept on a regular cycle.

Kitchen extract cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Pipsden

The part of the system nobody sees is often the dirtiest. We reach horizontal runs and vertical risers through access panels, scraping heavy deposits by hand before degreasing. Anything out of reach is noted in the report, and new panels can be fitted. If you have a kitchen taken over without any extract records and an extract that has never been cleaned to TR19, we can help, from extract fans, canopies and hoods and vertical risers onwards. For TR19 kitchen extract cleaning in Pipsden, you get one team and one number for every site.

Kitchens that fry and grill hardest need the most frequent cleans, so we look at the menu as well as the opening hours when we suggest the next date.

Rural kitchens often have long, low duct runs through a roof space or along an outside wall, and those horizontal sections are where grease settles. We agree access and timings in advance.

We’re CHAS and SafeContractor accredited, we hold ISO 9001 and we are fully insured. On top of that, we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we’ve been trading since 2009.

Leave it or put it right?

Grease build-up causes everyday problems too. Filters block, airflow drops and the kitchen gets hotter and smokier and the fan strains to keep up. Smells, dripping grease and condensation often follow. Systems in rural buildings are often out of sight and out of mind.

Kitchens, offices, schools and hospitals are all priced the same way: the size of the job, access, condition and working hours. Call for a fixed quote and we’ll explain each part.

What we do, step by step

The visit has three parts: getting the area ready, doing the work and signing it off. Getting ready means protecting surfaces and switching off what needs to be off, while signing off means the written report and pictures. The middle part takes longest, and that takes as long as the system needs, from a few hours to several planned visits. Somewhere like Pipsden, lanes, gates and parking are worth mentioning in advance.

  1. First the diagnosis: a survey of the whole system and its access points.
  2. Grease readings set the baseline, and a fixed quote follows.
  3. After the kitchen closes, we sheet the area and set up to contain grease and water.
  4. The treatment: heavy grease scraped out, then every part degreased to TR19® Grease.
  5. Then the clean bill of health: readings, a TR19 certificate and a photo report with the next date.

How to prepare

  • Make sure equipment near the work can be switched off and left to cool
  • Clear the space around the work
  • Mention any sign-in, permit or induction we need

Advice

Part by part

Restaurant and pub kitchens

Busy restaurant and pub kitchens often cook for long hours, frying and grilling, which can put them in BESA’s 3 or 6-monthly bands. We clean after close or before opening.

Canopy and plenum

Canopies vary from a single hood to long runs over several appliances, every section is cleaned and recorded in the photo report before and after.

When something else is needed

To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:

  • A canopy that’s too small or a system that was badly designed
  • A damper that sticks or has a damaged link
  • Ductwork that’s corroded, split or leaking (that’s for a ductwork contractor)

Not sure which it is? You can give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or email photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

What we work on in Pipsden

  • Discharge points
  • Plenums and filters
  • Canopies and hoods
  • Extract fans
  • Vertical risers
  • Horizontal duct runs

Aftercare tips

Think of this as the after-treatment advice, short and simple:

  • Report grease drips, smells or fan noise right away
  • Never cook with filters missing or out of place
  • Keep to the recommended cleaning interval
  • Do not let the canopy gutters overflow

You leave with a date for the next clean, set from your daily cooking hours and the readings we took. A 3, 6 or 12-monthly maintenance plan keeps it on track, so the date is not missed.

Keep the fan on throughout service. Cooking with the extract off lets grease and heat settle in the canopy, and the next clean has more to do.

Pipsden: your questions answered

Which fire authority looks after Pipsden?

Pipsden is in the area of Kent Fire and Rescue Service. It’s worth keeping your fire risk assessment, TR19® certificates and photo reports together, ready to show.

Is Pipsden within the area you cover?

Yes. Pipsden is within the area we cover across London and the South East. A survey first, from pictures or a visit, means we arrive with the right kit.

Do insurers need proof of extract cleaning?

Because a dirty extract can spread a fire through a building. Many policies say the extract must be cleaned to TR19, and a claim may be reduced without proof, so keep every certificate.

Can you quote from pictures?

Yes, for many jobs. Send wide shots, close-ups of any access panels and anything that worries you, and we typically come back within one working day. Some sites still need a visit, and we will say so.

What do you need from me for a quote?

Where the site is, what it is and when it’s open, plus photos of the system and your last certificate or report if you have one.

Where does the waste go?

It leaves the site with us at the end of the visit. While we work, it’s kept contained so the area stays clean.

Are you accredited for kitchen extract cleaning?

Our work is to BESA TR19® Grease, and we are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, with certificates issued through the BESCA portal. Duct Doctor has been trading since 2009.

Can you come out in an emergency?

Yes. If something urgent happens, like a fan failing or damage after a fire, call our 24/7 line, and we will advise on what to do next.

Do you need kitchen extract cleaning in Pipsden?

The type of cooking changes the amount of grease. Fryers, grills and open flames throw much more fat into the extract than gentler cooking, so two kitchens with the same hours can need very different intervals.

Common reasons sites call us are:

  • Ductwork thick with old, hardened grease
  • Cleaning needed before an insurance renewal or survey
  • An inspection that picked up a dirty extract
  • A new tenancy or takeover with no cleaning history

If your kitchen is in a listed or historic building, like the houses around Pipsden (Great Dixter is about 4.3 miles south-east), fitting access panels needs care.

Questions to ask before booking

  • What insurance they carry
  • Proof of accreditation you can verify
  • What happens if part of the system cannot be accessed
  • Whether the quote is based on a survey or pictures
