Commercial kitchen extraction cleaning in Hyde End

We’ve been trading since 2009, cleaning kitchen extracts across the South East and London. We’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we are fully insured, with CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001. The work covers horizontal duct runs, extract fans and canopies and hoods, and the jobs we see most are a TR19 certificate needed for the insurer and a kitchen with no current TR19 certificate. Whether you call it kitchen extract cleaning, TR19 cleaning or kitchen duct cleaning, it’s the job we do every week across West Berkshire.

A clean in Hyde End covers the canopy, plenum, filters, ductwork, risers and fan, and the discharge where it can be reached.

In a small place like Hyde End, kitchens are often in older or extended buildings, with long single-storey duct runs, where grease settles in the flat sections. Access, parking and timings are agreed before the day.

A written report with pictures follows each visit, so there’s a dated record of the work. Where the work is a TR19® Grease clean, the certificate is issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.

Kitchen extract cleaning in Hyde End: the local picture

Hyde End, about 49 miles from central London, is within our usual area. A survey and a fixed quote come first, then the visit at a time that suits you. Hyde End is covered by Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service. Its fire safety officers can audit commercial kitchens, and grease in the extract is part of a kitchen’s fire risk.

Healthcare kitchens cannot easily close, so their extracts are cleaned overnight or between meal services; the nearest hospital to Hyde End is West Berkshire Community Hospital, about 4.3 miles north-west. Volunteers running a hall kitchen near Church of St Peter, or anywhere in Hyde End, may not know when the extract was last cleaned, and a grease test settles it. If you look after a school kitchen, at a school such as Brimpton C.E. Primary School or anywhere near Hyde End, the holidays are the usual time for a TR19® clean.

Hyde End is about 3 miles south-east of Thatcham, in West Berkshire. From the centre of Hyde End to the outskirts, we cover kitchen extract cleaning for every kind of premises, from small sites to large estates. Across West Berkshire, we cover 155 places, and Hyde End is one of them. Our Reading page covers sites nearby (11 miles or so).

How it works

Your staff don’t need to do much on the day. A contact on site lets us in at the agreed time and points us to the system, and the rest is down to us. Afterwards, the area is left tidy and the written report follows. We agree a date with you, plan the drive to Hyde End and turn up when the site is quiet.

  1. You send pictures or we visit, and the system is surveyed from canopy to discharge.
  2. Grease thickness is measured and the price is fixed before work starts.
  3. On the night, the equipment is off and cool and the kitchen is sheeted.
  4. We work through the system from the canopy to the fan and discharge.
  5. We re-test, photograph and send your certificate and photo report.

How to prepare

  • Let us know about permits to work or site inductions
  • Find the previous report, if there is one
  • Make sure someone can let us in and lock up afterwards

Advice

Multi-site and managed buildings

For anyone managing more than one site, we can schedule visits across all of them on one quote. Each site gets its own report and pictures, so each one has its own record.

Running several sites is easier with one contractor. We cover South East England and London, so visits at different addresses can be planned together and kept on a regular cycle.

How we price kitchen extract cleaning

Every site gets its own quote. These are the things that affect it:

  • The size of the system
  • Whether several sites go on one quote
  • A single visit or a regular plan
  • How easy every part is to reach

The price reflects the work, not guesswork. That’s why we survey first, from pictures or on site, and the price is agreed before any work starts.

Asking for a quote

Photos and a few facts are often enough to price the work. Useful things to send:

  • The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it
  • Where the site is and what kind of site it is
  • Photos showing the whole system and its surroundings
  • Where the plant sits or the system leaves the building, such as a roof or outside wall

Every quote begins with a look at the system, either from pictures and details you send or from a site visit. Then we send a fixed price, before any work starts.

Honest limits

An honest diagnosis matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what this work can’t put right:

  • Fat blocking the kitchen drains
  • A broken extract fan that won’t run
  • Fire dampers that won’t close (that needs damper testing and remedials)

Not sure which it is? You can give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form and we will tell you honestly.

What we work on in Hyde End

  • Plenums and filters
  • Horizontal duct runs
  • Vertical risers
  • Extract fans
  • Discharge points

What your team can do, and what needs us

Staff cleaning does not replace a specialist visit; it supports it. Clean filters and tidy surfaces slow the build-up, but the parts you cannot see still need a specialist at the right interval.

Some jobs should never be done in-house: entering ducts, working on fans, testing dampers and taking grease readings call for the right kit, training and safe access. Leave those to us.

Hyde End: your questions answered

Who carries out food hygiene inspections in Hyde End?

Kitchens in Hyde End are inspected by Basingstoke and Deane council’s environmental health officers. An officer may look up into the canopy, so clean filters on the day and a recent certificate on file both help.

Which fire and rescue service is responsible for Hyde End?

It’s Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service, which covers Hyde End. A recent cleaning certificate and a note of the next clean date show that grease in the extract is being managed.

What does TR19 mean?

It’s BESA’s specification and the benchmark insurers, fire officers and EHOs look to. It covers how systems are inspected, cleaned and checked and expects a risk-based approach.

Do you offer maintenance contracts?

Yes. Plans on a 3, 6 or 12-monthly cycle are available, depending on what the system needs.

How much does kitchen extract cleaning cost?

There’s no set price, as it depends on the job: how big it is, what state it’s in, how we reach it and the working hours. We fix the price before work begins.

Why do insurers care about extract cleaning?

Because a dirty extract can spread a fire through a building. Many policies say the extract must be cleaned to TR19, and a claim may be reduced without proof, so keep every certificate.

Does the law say I must clean to TR19?

TR19® itself is not law. The law is the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, which makes the responsible person assess and reduce fire risk, and TR19 is the benchmark used to show extract grease is under control.

How far ahead should we book?

Earlier is better, especially for out-of-hours work. Quotes usually come back within one working day, and there’s a 24/7 line for emergencies.

Looking after it afterwards

Looking after the system between visits is straightforward, and it helps at the next visit:

  • File each certificate with the fire risk assessment
  • Keep to the recommended cleaning interval
  • Refit filters properly after cleaning
  • Switch the fan on before cooking starts

You get a photo report after every clean. It shows the system before and after, part by part, and lists what was cleaned, any areas we couldn’t reach and the date the next clean is due.

Keep the outside of the canopy wiped and any grease cups emptied. A daily wipe is not a deep clean, but it helps between visits.

How the job changes from site to site

Grease filters

Baffle filters are cleaned as part of every TR19 clean, and refitted so they sit properly in the housing. Damaged ones are noted on the report.

Extract fan and discharge

Attenuators, where fitted, can soak up grease and need attention. We clean what can be reached and note anything that cannot.
