Kitchen extract cleaning in Crowmarsh Gifford
Duct Doctor has been cleaning kitchen extract systems since 2009. We’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 and are fully insured. We’re often asked to deal with an inspection that picked up a dirty extract and grease dripping from the canopy or filters, on plenums and filters, extract fans and vertical risers. Canopy cleaning, extract cleaning and duct cleaning are often used to mean the same thing, but a proper TR19® clean in Crowmarsh Gifford covers all of it, from the hood to the fan.
BESA sets minimum intervals by hours of cooking a day: 3-monthly for heavy use, 6-monthly for moderate use and yearly for light use, adjusted by what the grease readings show.
Work in a small place like Crowmarsh Gifford starts with a call to agree access and timings, and the clean itself is the same full TR19® job as in any town: canopy to discharge, then a TR19® certificate and a photo report.
We have been trading since 2009, and we are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured.

Keeping the system healthy
Good habits slow the build-up between visits. Our tips:
- File each certificate with the fire risk assessment
- Switch the fan on before cooking starts
- Book the next clean before the date on the report
- Refit filters properly after cleaning
If we couldn’t get into part of the duct, the report says so plainly. A TR19 report should record what wasn’t cleaned as well as what was, and new access panels can be fitted so the next clean covers it.
Stick to the cleaning interval on the certificate. If the kitchen starts cooking longer hours, the interval should be looked at again, and grease readings will show it.
What staff can safely do
If your staff spot something between visits, like drips, unusual noise, smells or damaged filters, they should report it rather than try to fix it. We can diagnose it and quote.
Some jobs should never be done in-house: opening up ductwork, cleaning fans, drop testing fire dampers and measuring grease need training, the right equipment and safe access. That’s our job.
Fixed quotes for kitchen extract cleaning in Crowmarsh Gifford
A fixed price needs a few facts first. We look at:
- Parking and loading at the site
- When the work can happen, such as evenings, overnight or weekends
- Whether we need access equipment or extra panels
- What state the system is in
When the work has to happen, how we reach it and how big the site is can all change the price. Each of those is built into the quote, and the price is fixed before any work starts.
What we need to know
To speed up the quote, send us:
- Where the plant sits or the system leaves the building, such as a roof or outside wall
- Wide photos of the system and the area around it
- The times we could work without disrupting the site
- Close-ups of filters, grilles, hatches or access panels
Getting a quote does not take long. Call or email with a few details and you will usually have a fixed price within one working day. Where a survey is needed, we arrange a time that suits the site.
The process
There’s very little for your team to do on the day. A contact on site lets us in at the agreed time and points us to the system, and the rest is down to us. Before we leave, the area is tidied and the paperwork follows. Visits to a village like Crowmarsh Gifford are booked in advance, at a time that suits whoever runs the site.
- You send photos or we visit, and the system is surveyed from canopy to discharge.
- Grease thickness is measured and the price is fixed before work starts.
- On the night, the equipment is off and cool and the kitchen is sheeted.
- Filters, canopy and plenum are cleaned, then the ducts, risers, fan and discharge.
- Readings are repeated, photos taken, and your TR19 certificate and photo report issued.
Preparing for the visit
- Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, plant rooms, ceilings or locked areas
- Move anything stored near the system
- Plan for cooking equipment or plant to be off before we arrive
Get a fixed quote
To get a fixed quote, ring 0345 646 2711, or email photos with the site type, your trading hours and a short description of the system. A few pictures and your last certificate or report help a lot. We typically come back within one working day.
Advice
What the work involves, part by part
Extract fan and discharge
At the end of the system is the discharge, which can collect grease and stain the surface around it. It’s cleaned as far as safe access allows, and any limits are recorded.
Schools, hospitals and care homes
In a care home or hospital, the kitchen may cook every day of the year. We plan the clean around meal times and work in a contained, tidy way with as little disruption as possible.
