Cove kitchen extract cleaning
Kitchen extract cleaning across Cove and nearby, timed so the site keeps working and finished with a written report and photos.
- A kitchen taken over without any extract records
- Fat running down the canopy edge
- An extract that no longer clears the smoke
Commercial kitchen extraction cleaning in Cove
The part of the system nobody sees is often the dirtiest. We reach horizontal runs and vertical risers through access panels, removing thick grease by hand, then using degreasers, hot water or steam to suit the deposit. Anything out of reach is noted in the report and extra access panels can be added. Typical jobs include poor airflow at the canopy and an inspection that picked up a dirty extract, across discharge points, vertical risers and canopies and hoods. Need a TR19 duct cleaning contractor for Cove? Duct Doctor has covered London and the South East since 2009, with a certificate and photo report after every clean.
BESA sets minimum intervals by hours of cooking a day: 3-monthly for heavy use, 6-monthly for moderate use and yearly for light use, with grease readings setting the real interval.
In a smaller place like Cove, many kitchens sit in older buildings or later extensions, where the duct may cross a roof void or climb an outside wall. Flat runs collect grease and need proper access to clean.
Duct Doctor has been trading since 2009, and we are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are fully insured.

Staff cleaning versus specialist work
Good housekeeping makes our visits easier, not unnecessary. Clean filters and tidy surfaces slow the build-up, but hidden parts of the system still need specialist attention.
For ventilation and air handling systems, in-house care is mostly about checks: keeping grilles clear, noting unusual noise or smells and logging filter changes. Cleaning inside ducts and units is specialist work.
What the work involves, part by part
Schools, hospitals and care homes
Institutional kitchens tend to cook to set hours, so cleans can be planned for holidays or quiet times. The certificate and report suit estates and compliance files.
Grease filters
Between TR19 cleans, filters still need regular cleaning, and a filter exchange service can take that off your hands. Clean filters slow the build-up further down the system.
What affects the cost of kitchen extract cleaning
The survey tells us what the work involves. We look at:
- Access, including roofs, risers and ceiling voids
- The times the site is available
- Travel, parking and unloading
- A single visit or a regular plan
Kitchens, offices, schools and hospitals are all priced the same way: how much there is, how we reach it, what state it’s in and when we can work. Call for a fixed quote and we will go through it with you.
What to send for a quote
You do not need the technical terms. Just send:
- Close-ups of filters, grilles, hatches or access panels
- Photos showing the whole system and its surroundings
- When the site is open and when it’s quiet
- The roof, plant room or outside wall the system runs to
The quickest way to a quote is to send photos: wide shots of the system, close-ups of anything that worries you and how we’d get to it. Tell us what kind of site it is and when it’s open, and we can price many jobs without a visit.
Multi-site and managed buildings
Managing agents often deal with us directly. Tell us the site, the work and the access arrangements and we will come back with a fixed quote.
If you look after several sites, we can plan visits across the whole estate and price them together. Every building has its own written report, so records stay tidy.
Kitchen extracts in Cove
The FSA’s data shows about 13 bars, pubs and nightclubs registered within 1.5 miles or so of the middle of Cove. Breakfasts, bar meals and functions all put grease into the extract wherever they’re cooked. It’s Rushmoor council that sends environmental health officers to food businesses in Cove. Extraction counts as kitchen equipment, so its condition can come up on the day. A dated certificate in the maintenance file answers the question before it’s asked. The fire and rescue service for Cove is Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service. Fire and rescue authorities enforce the Fire Safety Order in most non-domestic premises, and in a kitchen that fire risk includes the grease in the extract.
Church and community hall kitchens, near St John the Baptist or anywhere around Cove, are easy to forget, but their extracts collect grease like any other. If you look after a school kitchen, at a school such as Parsonage Farm Nursery and Infant School or anywhere near Cove, the holidays are the usual time for a TR19® clean. Kitchens that cook twelve hours or more a day, as some healthcare kitchens do, fall into BESA’s three-monthly minimum; Fleet Community Hospital is the nearest hospital to Cove, about 2.4 miles west.

What a clean won’t put right
We’ll always give you a straight diagnosis, so here’s what kitchen extract cleaning will not do:
- Blocked drains from a neglected grease trap (a separate service)
- A duct that’s holed or coming apart
- An undersized canopy or fan
If you are not sure, just call us on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

What happens on the day
There’s very little for your team to do on the day. Someone lets us in at the agreed time and shows us where everything is, and we take it from there. Before we leave, the area is tidied and the paperwork follows. Because the survey comes first, a visit to Cove can usually be finished without a second trip.
- First comes a survey of the whole system, by pictures or a visit.
- We measure the grease at set points along the system, then give you a fixed price.
- On the day, cooking equipment is switched off and left to cool, and everything nearby is sheeted.
- We clean the canopy, plenum, filters, ducts, risers, fan and discharge.
- Finally the system is re-tested and photographed, and the certificate and report follow.
Getting ready for the visit
- Have your last certificate or report to hand
- Arrange a key holder or contact on site
- Make sure equipment near the work can be switched off and left to cool

FAQs for Cove
Which environmental health team covers Cove?
That is Rushmoor council, whose environmental health officers carry out food hygiene inspections in Cove. It helps to keep the extract cleaning records with your food safety paperwork, so they’re ready if asked for.
Which fire service covers Cove?
It’s Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, which covers Cove. Records of extract cleaning are a sensible thing to have ready if a fire safety officer carries out an audit.
Do you work with multi-site operators?
Yes. Our area covers London and the South East, so sites at different addresses can be planned together as one programme. Every site has its own report.
What happens to the waste?
Waste is contained during the work and removed when we leave, including grease, debris and dirty water. We don’t leave it behind.
How far ahead should we book?
Earlier is better, particularly for night and weekend visits. We usually quote within one working day, and there’s a 24/7 line for emergencies.
What types of premises do you cover?
We work for restaurants, pubs, hotels, schools, colleges, hospitals, care homes, offices and shops, as well as food production and leisure sites.
Does the law say I must clean to TR19?
TR19® is BESA’s specification, not legislation. Under the Fire Safety Order 2005, the responsible person must assess and reduce fire risk, and TR19 is the benchmark used to show extract grease is under control.
Can you price the work without visiting?
Typically, yes. Send a few wide photos plus close-ups of panels, filters or grilles, and a fixed quote usually follows within one working day. Some sites still need a visit, and we will say so.
Aftercare tips
Good habits slow the build-up between visits. A few tips:
- Make sure every filter is fitted before cooking
- Run the extract fan throughout cooking
- Clean grease off the canopy surfaces regularly
- Diarise the next clean as soon as you get the certificate
The certificate records when the clean was done, where and by whom. File it with the fire risk assessment and the maintenance log so it’s ready when anyone asks to see it.
Clean the grease filters often, not just on clean day. Clean, well-fitted filters catch more fat before it reaches the duct, which slows build-up further down the system.
