Kitchen extract cleaning in Burkham
We have been trading since 2009, cleaning kitchen extracts across the South East and London. We are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 and are fully insured. The work covers horizontal duct runs, plenums and filters and extract fans, and people most often call us about a kitchen taken over without any extract records and proof of cleaning requested by an insurer. Whether you call it kitchen extract cleaning, TR19 cleaning or kitchen duct cleaning, it’s the job we do every week across Hampshire.
Each job starts with a look at where grease has built up: wet film or deposit thickness readings show which parts of the duct need the most attention, and the same readings after the clean show the result.
For a kitchen in or near Burkham, the visit is planned around opening hours and the journey, and the clean itself is the same full TR19® job as in any town: canopy, filters, duct, fan and discharge, with a certificate and photo report at the end.
A written report with photos follows every visit, so you have a record of what was done and when. Where the work is a TR19® Grease clean, the certificate is issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.

Burkham questions
Do you work in villages like Burkham?
Yes, Burkham is part of our area, however small the site. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the site when you book.
Which fire service covers Burkham?
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service is the fire and rescue service for Burkham. A recent cleaning certificate and a note of the next clean date show that grease in the extract is being managed.
Do we have to close the kitchen for the clean?
The clean is done when the kitchen is not cooking, so evenings, overnight, early mornings and weekends are all options. Equipment needs to be off and cool before we start.
How much notice should we give?
That depends on the slot you want and the size of the job. Mention your preferred dates with your enquiry, and for anything urgent, ring our 24/7 emergency line.
What happens to the waste?
Waste is contained during the work and removed when we leave, including grease, debris and dirty water. None of it is left on site.
Which sectors do you work in?
We work for restaurants, pubs, hotels, schools, colleges, hospitals, care homes, offices and shops, plus food production and leisure sites.
Will I get a certificate after the clean?
You get both a certificate and a photo report. They belong in the maintenance log so they’re to hand when an insurer asks.
Are you accredited for kitchen extract cleaning?
We’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured.
What happens on the day
Night work is normal for us. Evenings, nights and weekends are when much of our work happens, so the site can open as normal afterwards. The visit itself takes anything from a few hours to a full night, depending on the size of the system. Pictures of the system and its access let us plan the work in Burkham before we set off.
- You send pictures or we visit, and the system is surveyed from canopy to discharge.
- We take grease readings at set points and send you a fixed quote.
- On the night, the equipment is off and cool and the kitchen is sheeted.
- Filters, canopy and plenum are cleaned, then the ducts, risers, fan and discharge.
- Readings are repeated, photos taken, and your TR19 certificate and photo report issued.
How to prepare
- Let us know how we reach the system, including roofs, risers and plant rooms
- Tell us where we can park and unload
- Find the previous report, if there is one
How to get a quote
Every quote begins with a look at the system, from your photos and details or, where that is not enough, a survey on site. Then we send a fixed price, before any work starts.

When to call us in Burkham
Cooking fat leaves the pan as a fine vapour. As the air cools on its way through the duct, the fat condenses and sticks, building a layer that gets thicker with every service. The grease filters stop some, never all of it.
What we are most often called out for:
- A kitchen taken over without any extract records
- Cleaning needed before an insurance renewal or survey
- A system with no record of a TR19 clean
- Ductwork thick with old, hardened grease
If you run catering at a healthcare site, such as a hospital like Alton Community Hospital about 4.4 miles south-east, the extract may need cleaning more often than a part-time kitchen.
What your quote should include
- What’s included in the scope, part by part
- If the quote is a fixed price or an estimate
- Whether a survey comes first
- When they can work, and whether that’s outside your opening hours
How the job changes from site to site
Ductwork and risers
Grease builds up most where the duct turns. Those are among the points where we take readings before and after, so the report shows the difference.
Extract fan and discharge
The discharge is where air leaves the building, and grease can collect there too. It’s cleaned as far as safe access allows, and any limits are recorded.
Between visits
Results last longer with the right care. Here’s what we suggest:
- Keep to the recommended cleaning interval
- Run the extract fan throughout cooking
- Keep grease collection points emptied
- Refit filters properly after cleaning
The certificate records when the clean was done, where and by whom. File it with the fire risk assessment and the maintenance log so it’s ready when anyone asks to see it.
Stick to the cleaning interval on the certificate. BESA guidance links the minimum interval to daily cooking hours, so a change in hours may mean a change in interval, and grease readings will show it.
Multi-site and managed buildings
If you look after several sites, we can schedule visits across all of them on one quote. Each site gets its own report and photos, so each one has its own record.
Records are where multi-site compliance often slips. Each visit produces a dated report with pictures, so you can show an insurer or inspector what was done at each site.

Leave it or put it right?
Every week without a clean adds another layer. BESA guidance says the mean should not go above 200 microns between cleans, and 500 microns or more at any point needs immediate spot cleaning. The longer it’s left, the bigger the job becomes. It’s worth booking a check, because nobody sees inside a duct day to day.
When the work has to happen, how we reach it and how big the site is can all change the price. We take each of them into account, and the price is fixed before any work starts.
